  • My initial plan was to spend two years in China. Because it’s such a big country, I wanted to spend one year in the north, one year in the south, and then move to Europe.
I ended up spending five years in China and every time I would go back to visit my friends and family in Brazil or visit friends in Europe, they would ask me: "What do you like so much about China?" And I just could not explain in detail all the factors which make China such a great country for expats.
So, I decided to ask some expats who live in China the question: "What do You Like Best About Living in China?" Their answers will give you a better understanding of what makes China so special.

It is not just this video but I have not yet seen any negatives about China from any foreigners whether expats or travelers.

I challenge anyone to come out of their comfort zone and live in China. You will love the people, history, culture and excitement of learning another civilization with friendly, peaceful people. I love it here.

Everyone are taught at the very young age to be respectful towards their elders, parents, teachers, society and being disciplined. All of this is to do with Confucius teachings. The friendliness and respect foreigners get in China is shocking to them, but when it comes to what Chinese people receive when they visit foreign countries like most of Europe and America is nothing but racism and hostility.

Hey Lotus. I learned about the respect for parents, elderly citizens, grandparents, etc. I felt extremely respected by all of my students and that was amazing. I know there is hostility against Chinese people in foreign countries and that is really bad. However, I do think it's impossible to generalize. Take a look at a video I made about "First Impressions of Chinese students in the USA" and see what my students said about living in the US.

@@ReadyGoExpat I will check that video out. I grew up and are still currently living in England, I know first hand what racism is like and back in the eighties it was 10 times worse. Racism has really kicked off again after the pandemic outbreak in many white countries. A harmonious society is also a Confucius belief.

@@Lotus.F I'm sorry to hear that you have gone through racism and all of that. I also hope that things improve all over the world in the near future regarding that issue. Hope there is more love and less hatred.

Not generally true but there are a minority of racists like
Trump, Pompeo and their followers... The main British
public is polite and. Antiracist... The UK has strong culture in love and peace... Strong movement to save Assange...

    • @ReadyGoExpat

Yes, that's right. Qingdao is not really north of China like Beijing or Harbin. I liked the fact that Shandong and Jiangxi provinces are so different as well. I was also able to visit other beautiful cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guilin, Shenzhen, Nanjing, and so on. Thanks for the comment :)
