Playing one handed, gain is at horrendous levels, being the absolute, unequaled, master of everything GUITAR, Jimi will never be forgotten. That man was the wizard of electrical guitar...

Jimi was the best guitarist of all time. I was lucky enough to see Jimi twice and it was just incredible. I remember at the 2nd performance at the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston, Jimi ran out on stage dressed in a black body suit with silver sequins running down his arms and legs and a black headband. I could only stare at this epitome of cool before my very eyes. Of course, he just tore the stage down.

Jimi is an amazing legend but greatest guitarist of all time? Sorry, no... there are grade schoolers in garages everywhere that have better technique. He was way too messy... but did he make amazing music? Of course... he's a rock god.

@@greggibson33 Of course, it’s all subjective. But I just love what he does and how he does it. If you were to put Hendrix onstage next to Eric Johnson and the judgement was clean playing, then Eric Johnson would come out on top. Some say Dave Gilmour
is the best ever, or Page, or Clapton, or Beck. If you ask someone to list their 10 favorite players, you’d very likely get 10 opinions.

No other guitarist created from scratch like he did. He created the modern electric guitar sounds. All the rest learned from him and even copied his style and stage presence.

When it comes to the electric guitar there is Pre Jimi Hendrix and Post Jimi Hendrix, he changed to way people listen and played the guitar, no other guitar artist is even in the Building. One of the few guitarists ever who could play rhythm, lead, sing on top of it and do acrobatics on stage. 1. He was incredibly creative 2. His technique was superb 3. He was a great songwriter 4. He was a great singer 5. He was a great frontman. He didn’t need to play fast alternate picking runs or sweep picking or tapping tricks , he was above that. No one even comes close to him He invented a whole new style of playing. He by himself changed the way people thought about the electric guitar. He singlehandedly redefined the musical vocabulary of the electric guitar and changed music forever. When Jimi hit the scene people were hearing noises they had never heard from a guitar.

I was 14 when Hendrix just blew my tiny little mind. Never been the same, thank U Jimi. You should react to The Star Spangled Banner, same performance. Jimi was a vision in Red bandana, White fringe, and Blue jeans. Just look at those hands and long fingers made for guitars. This genius changed the face of music forever. Original, innovative, poet, philosopher and amazing composer of music. So far ahead of his time, so cheated out of years of creativity and explosive breakthroughs in music. Try: Red House, Hey, Joe, Watchtower, Angel, Purple Haze, Castles made of Sand....lots to 'Experience'. RIp, Jimi, ❤. ☮️to all

    1) Band of Gypsies - Live at the Fillmore East (Machine Gun) and whole album
    2) Jimi Hendrix Experience- Concerts (I Don’t Live Today, Red House, Stone Free and Are You Experienced)

He played a right handed guitar. . . backwards! Suggestion: First album (Are You Experienced), side B...The Wind Cries Mary, Fire, Foxy Lady, and the title track (plus, Third Stone From the Sun is in there, if you're up for outer space). Four songs, three classics. And the other side ain't bad, either. Jimi was the whole package: great singing, great playing, way cool song writing, and a stage vibe that's still - IMHO - unmatched.

He could play left handed or right handed with the High E on top OR High E on the bottom!! He wrote right handed , he played “colors” not Tab notes. Sang while playing the guitar ( Much difficulty to do). He also improvised every song he played every time making each song a new work of Art. Tore the Music Universe into pieces several times over, Monterey Pop, Star Spangled banner. Etc etc He completed 4 Albums by the time he was murdered at the age of 27! Yep age of 27. The 101st Airborne classified Jimi as a" Genius Savant” Not a simple Savant, meaning his entire brain was Savant like, not just Musical part. His hands were Huge, not only super strong but delicate as well. Jimi had another ability, he was able to record a solo in “reverse” knowing that when it was Reversed he would have the correct sound and this reverse solo was done in ONE take. Jimi was a brilliant song writer as well…. When the world was listening to "Henry the 8th I am I am” by Jimi debuted with “ Purple Haze” !! Nothing like his music had been heard before … he also was slightly Telepathic and is said to have prophetic Visions…… I’ve listened intently for 50 years and I must say I’ve never got close to feeling his music was hokey or scaled wrong his creative guitar work is more mind blowing music gets. Jimi We will never find anotherJimi or anyone else with anything close to his staggering talents or his even more staggering work ethic! Chas Chandler said that you would look at Jimi’s physical traits and maybe think that he didnt need to try but “ By God Jimi worked like Hell at it.” Thanks

This is why he's been #1 on Rolling Stone Magazines 100 best guitarists of all time for many years. I've Seen him play live twice (I'm 75 yo and am blessed to have lived through the greatest music of all times)
One thing that the younger reactors don't notice is that he played upside down. That's why the pick guard, whammy bar, plug, etc is all on the top thereby increasing the difficulty, as if he had a lefty guitar

When he first began to take interest in Guitar he discovered that left handed Guitars were rare & very few if any so he took the right handed version ,turned it upside and restrung it the way a left handed player would play it with the low E on top. Albert King on the other hand,a Left handed player ,played a right handed guitar upside down without restringing it with the high "E" string on top . Albert was a great blues player but his playing of the instrument was limited . IMHO
