I used to wake up at times on the bus in Ireland and think I was back in New Zealand. Similar green aspect.
Thank you lovely couple videoing my home town
I live in uk but nice to see home again
I now live in London but grew up in Hamilton, NZ from 1985 to 2011. Thank you for bringing back the memories!
After watching more of the video, I see how dead the CBD is. It’s hard for me to gauge now as I’ve lived in London for 12 years and visited many huge cities around the world. I have heard from family there that the central city died down and I think a big part of it was that they developed large shopping and entertainment sites on the outskirts of the town. Hamilton sprawls over a very large area and as you say, the population is relatively low. The developments on the outskirts also have large and free car parks available. The council made a conscious effort to reduce vehicle use in the CBD and I think it somewhat backfired.
@@69butternut.The Base is busy and the industrial estates in Te Rapa continue to expand.
I’ve lived in Hamilton for 26 years. It’s always quiet like this during the day.
Very good film, hope to see more.
I am loving Hamilton already! Can't wait to visit.
Kiwi people so benevolent and kind!
Kia Ora, my friends Mado & Glenn!
Careful who you call Kiwi in the Waikato….Some like myself don’t like it…It’s like calling an African a “N-word”
Not true.@@mereassassinates550
Hamilton is where i grew up but am currently living in perth thanks for showing me my home once again i really miss my family
Lucky you! Perth is abundantly stunning and sunny city
Best one yet!
If i didnt live in Tauranga I'd be in H-Town. I love it there. My dad's Tribe is from the Waikato so i have a homely connection to the place
I feel that Hamilton is abit nicer actually compared to Tauranga but both have good and bad I suppose! I mean Tauranga has the mount which is the highlight! :) awh wow would be so nice to hear about the history of your dads tribe :)
@GlenAndMado yea Tauranga CBD has been let down by the local hierarchy. It was a great place a few years back with a great night-life. H-Town is University town so the night-life is rather rowdy too lol
Anytime y'all want to have coffee and ask questions about stuff, just gotta holla at me🤙🏾
Even JB hi fi moved out of Hamilton to the base shopping centre to get more customers as Hamilton CBD is quiet
I went to hamilton once and felt like everyone was looking at us like we didnt belong there lol
Whangarei will surprise you.👍
Beautiful Vlog
I love new zealand and Glen and mado so cooling video ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
thanks so much hope you enjoyed brother :)
I was born an breed here in Hamilton an i love it
Beautiful kiwiland
Hello you should come to Taupō 😊
haha we actually just went the other day to see the mountain and ski slope!
Check Napier, or Havelock North. Art Deco Beachside & World Class Gardens, Wine estates
At the Northern outskirts of Hamilton is a shopping complex called “The Base”. This is where everyone is now. That has killed the CBD of Hamilton now leaving it like a ghost town. I use to live there 20 yrs ago before the base and it was awesome. Was the Waikato flag flying near the coffee place you went to. When I first saw it I said to my mate “why are they flying Germanys flag”. Hh they look similar.
Awh that's why, we were wondering. so thats the norm!?? its always quite then. what made you decide to leave good owl Hamilton? did you move far from were you grew up then? I thought it was the world cup flag we seen in Hamilton square. not sure need to look at it again haha
@@GlenAndMado yes it’s the norm, BUT as you seen all the restaurants and bars the place comes alive in the evenings when these are open and with the casino in the Main Street also. The big building where you get your coffee is the main Waikato council buildings where the mayor chambers are. Normally they fly their sporting flag which is Black/ Red and yellow. You see these colours on the uniforms of the local Rugby team. I’m from a tiny village below Mt Ruapehu where my mothers Maori heritage is from. I move to Hamilton to study and work in orcharding. I left that in 2006 and now live in Orewa (North of Auckland) and been at my current job for 18 yrs. Are you’s going to tour the north? Summer is best up here.
@@GlenAndMado if you want to go into history all the land from meremere (south of Auckland) to Kihikihi (south of Hamilton) was confiscated by the crown in the 1800s. Reparations were paid and with this money some Maori tribes have become finically successful. One being Hamilton tribe, Tainui.
Nice vlog 👍
Mexican next to Indian , deadly 😂
I love Hamilton I live there
Come back Switzerland 😃💖
the cars loud cos they hooked up the same speakers as a supermarket intercom lol
haha they waking the whole neighbourhood up!
I'm Born and raised in Hamilton. Hamilton central is always dead quiet. You should go out to "The Base" / Te Awa Mall, in Te Rapa ( a suburb in hamilton) The Mall there is PACKED. No one goes to the Central city anymore they're all at the Mall. Also Night Life/ Night Clubs are DEAD also..... if you came 10 years ago there was a very Lively Night Life on Thursday and Saturday Night at the Night Clubs/Bars. But now its cheaper to get wasted with alcohol and music at home.
John Lawrenson not doing so hot these days

hamilton is nice flat land...easy to walk, not like auckland which is very hilly

Thanks to Covid and money hungry landlords there are now many empty shops. Much like Tauranga sadly. The outlet shops and malls out of town draw more people now too.
I invented revelosionary ideas ,while I am living in this place, yet they throw me out ,now the whole world is paying the price for that.
Glenn, New Zealand history goes back a long way for the Maori, it is just the european side that is new.
I agree, history in NZ goes back a very long way, far longer than the given 1000 years of Maori history. I'd say Polinesians have been coming to NZ for thousands of years. What I find curious is the history of Rats in NZ. rat bones have been dated to 2200 years old, someone brought them to New Zealand, Id say it was the Polynesians of old.
😢😢😢😢
whats wrong? :(
Hamiltonians shouldn't even start to compare their city to Auckland, no contest whatsoever, and the main rivalry is between Auckland and Christchurch. Hamilton is such a snooze fest.
If Auckland stops sending their homeless and drug addicts to Hamilton maybe it would be a better place we are so sick of getting your shit people. Learn how to look after your own people we would never compare our selfs to you Auckland lot we don't think like that just you Auckland lot
Chch wins hands down
Please, don't even go there, Auckland is the last place, to compare other cities, 😂😂
Hamilton is the most boring boring did I mention boring city, I should know have lived here all my life. Hamilton gardens is a top tourist attraction if you like gardens and flowers but honestly it ain't that great. Use to be free but now there's a fee. City council always say Hamilton is vibrant with lots to see and do. Whatever gardens museum and zoo. The best thing bout Hamilton is that it is central to all other towns and cities that actually do have actual attractions to see. For a city it's pathetically lamem. Don't come here and waste your money, drive in, fill the tank up , have a feed or buy to go and move on coz there ain't any shit here worth seeing. Even Jimmy Carr says it's fuckn boring and he wasn't joking lol
Are you two just off the farm in Ireland?? Everywhere you go you find something you didn't expect or were surprised by. If you're that blown away by Hamilton or Auckland you'll be gob-smacked by Dublin or Scunthorpe. London, Paris, Rome or New York - from a future so unimaginable. Your not working for the New Zealand tourist board are you - they're just as remote from reality.
Who are you? 😴😴😴😴
very isolation and lonliness
What fools eat plant-based mince which tries to taste like meat?
I don't have fckig money 🙄
What do you mean? Are you okay? Hope your day is going well 🙂
Stay in Pakistan then. Please!! 🙄
@@lesleyhughes3174perhaps try not to be racist.
Hamilton is still boring 😂😂
Why ur move in new zealand ?
Sure why not? 🤣 only for 10months though.

I just asked, I didn't mean anything else!! Well, great
Hamilton is dead town, only activity is gambling. An economic collopse is expected to come.
Keep playing your poker machines 😂😂😂
