BMW N13 engine problems and repair:
    1. Vibration! You need to check fuel injectors and clean them in case of necessity.
    2. Rough idling! This problem is caused by idling valve and throttle flap: You only need to clean them in order to avoid such problem.
    00:00 ENGINE VIBRATION - FUEL INJECTORS cleaning - 160 tkm SERVICE - BMW F20 engine N13
00:35 Intake manifold - Remove from the engine
06:18 Remove fuel pressure line and fuel rail with fuel injectors
09:48 Cleaning Fuel injectors and using service kit for injectors
17:58 Install fuel injectors and rail back to the engine
21:42 Intake plenum and throttle body - Replace gaskets and install back to the engine
24:11 Install new Intake vanos solenoid valve
25:32 Intake plenum - Install back to the engine
    - As in the previous episodes, I do a 160 tkm service for my BMW F20 car
    - Let's continue where we left off in the last episode!
    - The car currently consumes about one liter of oil per 1000 kilometers
    - It seems that the valve stem seals are worn and need to be replaced
    - In addition, one of the type defects of the N13 engine is the contamination of the tips of the fuel nozzles, which causes extra engine vibration
    - Vibration, you need to check fuel injectors and clean them in case of necessity
    - Rough idling, you only need to clean idling valve and throttle flap in order to avoid such problem
    - Let's clean the tips of the fuel injectors while changing the valve stem seals
    - The gasket at the bottom of the sound insulation of the upper part of the bulkhead must not be damaged
    - Remove the DME and its holder
    - Since I'm also replacing the valve stem rubbers, I make room for removing the valve cover at this point
    - Remove charge air duct
    - Remove intake manifold. Remember the hidden bolt (5 bolts in total)
    - Remove pressure line. Loosen the lower nut first. Fuel escapes when fuel lines are detached.
    - Unlock locks (1) and pull off cable channel (2) from rail
    - Detach rail from cylinder head and remove
    - Unlock and pull off connectors from injectors
    - Next, the fuel injectors are cleaned and new seals and hold-down devices are replaced
    - Remove decoupling elements from injectors
    - Remove the fuel injectors from the rail
    - Remove the hold-down device from the fuel injector
    - Remove sealing rings and support rings
    - Remove sealing rings, support rings, hold-down devices and teflon sealing rings
    - Clean the nozzles of the fuel injectors so that the small holes are clean
    - In some of the nozzles, those holes were partially blocked
    - Install the new parts on the fuel injectors
    - Slide new Teflon sealing ring on the place with using the tip of the pen as a guide
    - Insert new hold-down device
    - Put the fuel injectors back to fuel rail
    - Place the fuel rail back on the cylinder head
    - Make sure guide pin (3) of fuel injector is correctly positioned in designated hole in cylinder head (4)
    - Install pressure line
    - Next, intake plenum and throttle body
    - Remove the old intake Vanos solenoid valve and install a new one
    - I also changed the Vanos solenoid valve on the exhaust side without a camera
    - Set of sealing and fastening parts for fuel injectors
    - In the next episode, Valve stem seals will be replaced
Let’s continue with the next episode! Stay tuned!

Again, a great video! How is the carbon buildup of the intake valves? I was thinking of walnut blasting the intake of my F20 118i currently at 193tkm.
Looking forward to your valve stem seals replacement video, my F20 consumes 1L per 7k so I'm ok but I like preventive maintenance.

Terve Jani! Greetings from Estonia, you have awesome videos!
I've been through the same path as you over the last year with a 2012 116i, which is at 120k km - started with the chain, then valve stem seals (oil consumption decreased from 1L/1000km to about 120mL/1000km) and Vanos solenoids cleaning. Now the engine vibration at idle is left to cure ...
Tell me please, did such cleaning help to reduce the vibration? Or are the injectors still contaminated internally, so have to look at replacements or ultrasonic cleaning. I would be interested to know also about how much carbon buildup you saw on the intake valves.
    Many thanks!

Did you have any codes suggesting that you need to clean the injectors. My engine seems to start rough and idles inconsistently after starting it (warm). Timing chain has just been done.

hello, I'm a subscriber from Brazil, I have a f20 116i n13 engine, with this shaking problem and rough start on cold start, when the car is on working temperature, if I turn it of and right after turn on It doesn't show any problems, but if turn it off, and about 20/30 minutes after I turn it on the problem is back, it may be a leaking injector? ps: new spark plugs... I really appreciate if you help me, thank you!!!
