Do you have a dash cam? Has it proven to be useful for you?

Does your cellular data work while the dashcam is connected to your phone via wifi ?

I didn't use a dash cam until I moved to Atlanta. The highways and Interstate roads there are dangerous. I recorded a couple of accidents that happened in front of me. I was thankful I was never involved in a collision. I stopped using a dash cam once I moved to a rural area. If I see a quality dash cam on sale, I may have to get one again because you just never know.

Dashcams are essential nowadays. Having a front and rear in my car has saved me from multiple headaches! Great review!

That seems a high ask for the poor night time use. I had that Vava cam which was only forwarded facing, but at a much lower price, and no wash out at night.
But its app was buggy as well when connecting.

I feel like what you would need to make dashcams truly useful is of course high resolution. but in reality they would just need a more sophisticated solution. like a semi-powerful computer in the car that can recognize license plates, and use a separate black and white high resolution camera to enhance legibility of those license plates. I mean, in the night view it would make sense to use a separate exposure rates, properly adjusted for each reflective license plate in the night and then superimpose those license plates to the live feed. It's requires a bit more engineering, but I mean, that way you could easily read license plates from afar.

I need one of those for sure. I wonder if there is a different model that can be switched between different vehicles easily.

Definitely. Also wondering if there is a good camera for someone with multiple cars.

For this cam I'm pretty sure you can get a suction cup mount which should easily swap between cars. I would definitely like to be able to move from car to car

@@HelloRoad I may look into it. When I go to buy a car and drive it back, a dash cam would be invaluable on Mexican highways. If I had one when I brought back the green 1999 Dodge Ramcharger it would have caught the big rig that rolled over into a ditch right beside me.

Nice dashcam. I've had pretty basic dashcams in my car on and off since 2012, but only with suction cup attachments to the windshield, and only front viewing cams. So far never captured any accidents, Finnish drivers are usually good drivers :)
Dashcam can also capture rare cars if you are into car spotting, and if your travel, captures video of the scenery too, so there's two additional uses for it. I usually leave it on motion sensor mode in parkinglots, running by it's internal battery, just in case someone would bump into my car or something.
I've saved some selected video clips during the years. Sometimes it's fun to re-watch those ten year old videoclips from locations, that have since changed, and see what kind of cars used to be common on roads back then, etc. :)
Got inspired to buy dashcam back then by watching RUclips videos, for example Techmoan used to do a lot of dashcam reviews those days.
