Currently going through DAO with an all-warrior team.. Dagger & Shield, Two Handed, Dual Wield & Archer.. And am loving it! Thanks for the inspiration n guide, planning to go for an all rogue or mage gameplay once finished 😊
Yes! I always give a dagger/shield combo to Alistair. You really notice the speed damage advantage with Flaming Weapons up. And there are some really useful daggers available all game like The Edge, Dead Thaig Shanker, and the Rose's Thorn.
In Shield and Weapon class the main focus is defense and dodging and basically draw enemy attention so that Leliana and Zevran can do some good old backstabbing series while Dual Wielding warrior is more focused on dealing damage quick and swiftly. But dagger and shield I never thought about 😅
Dagger-Shield Duelist-Assassin STR-DEX Rogue is also good. Not as fast as dual wielding, but have more defense, although just doing auto-attacks. It is for "Established Rogue" achievement seeker (not relevant today tough)
Years ago I gave my female Surana a dagger and shield and she did pretty well as an Arcane Warrior with those weapons, even without high dex. I had wondered about a warrior or rogue using them, but never got around to trying it.

I usually show the maximum damage output with any build I make(this can only be achieved if you use poisons). You can use poisons if you want, but during normal gameplay, I don't really use poisons. Just during the demonstartion. Poisons give around 30 additional damage, minus enemy resistance to elemental damage(poisons mostly deal nature damage and almost every single enemy has nature res), so poisons alone are not gonna win me any fights. :)
@@AKisHerceg Thanks for the clarification! It's always bothered me from a lot of guides that use poisons so I always thought they were absolutely needed.

An Arcane Archer can actually be the perfect tank. It can reach extremely high armor and unmatchable defense(the highest possible in the entire game). With Blood Magic, you can also draw an insane amount of aggro with Blood Wound. It can also deal as much damage as a normal archer would plus you can have some nice buff for the team. So kind of like a hybrid between a tank, a support, and a crowd control character. I plan to make a video about it eventually. :)
Me too! I started a a dalish arcane warrior character with the idea that they pretended to be a warrior, and I fell in love with using a bow instead of a staff. Playing as an archer support mage seems like it could work.
So basically, an unhittable tank that also deals great damage, seems kinda op lmaoo Have you tought about going Reaver instead of Berserk because of blood thirst? The more health gets drained, the more damage you should perform right?
Yup, I thought about it. It is definitely viable with a Reaver as well. Devour is actually the best if you plan to have Blood Thirst running all the time and you don't want to use healing poultices.
Reaver adds 1 damage for 10% lost HP, while berserk adds 8 no matter what. So, to achieve berserk level you need to be at 20% health constantly, not to mention that upkeep of reavers ability is 60 vs 20 of berserker. B - balance
