    Absolutely love this. Wow. As someone who is wanting to go full into vintage style design and typography (obviously nailing down any one style is difficult), this tutorial greatly greatly helped me. I've been using most all of those techniques-all the way until Matthew started painting yellow and blue....i was like, what are we doing here, then he hit the soft light and my mind just went 😵. Thanks Matthew!

      @@MatthewEncina I would love to know the process for orchestrating vintage illustration. I think photography/typography lends itself much more easily to accomplish, with all of the tools and assets (like Heritage Type) that are out there, but you can't fake illustration. I guess you could, but it would catch up to you lol. So yea, pairing vintage illustration with other vintage assets/type/color, etc.

    Really enjoyed this! I am curious though when working with projects like these that aim to have a vintage look, would you do anything different if the end result would be printed?
    I am currently working on a project where there will be a physical print that people can potentially have. The trouble I have at times is making printed work that is meant to feel vintage, but when printed is by all means fresh and clean, where the design is just made to look worn down. Is it overkill to give actual weathering to a piece that is printed, or should the design suffice enough that it's no big deal? By all means this is overthinking it, but I like to assume I'm not the only one who wrestles with this.

    • @MatthewEncina
      @MatthewEncina 3 года назад

      I've done this on printed projects too. So it sounds like overthinking. But maybe you know something about your project that I don't.
