They're really good band, they didn't last very long they only made three albums in the early to mid 80s and then they broke up, they also have a really good song which is even more popular called tell me what you want from the album of the same name from 1983 called who's behind the door.
I'm 52, still remember my introduction to ZEBRA on a camping trip. I was a kid.... THANK YOU to whoever is the wonderful soul that suggested this!!! I hear Randy sounds just as good...
Love this song! That 12 string acoustic intro is priceless. A beautifuly constructed soundscape that transcends that typical 80's sound. This is art and it's music:)
Great reaction video. I remember the first time I heard this song on 98 Rock in Tampa. I was a new teen driver and this song came on and just blew me away. Definitely a strong Led Zepplin influence and they do Zep cover songs during their current tour.
Great to see more people finally appreciating Zebra. Other standouts are on their first album are, 'Take Your Fingers From My Hair', 'One More Chance' and 'The LaLa Song', off their second album, ''Bears', 'Wait until The Summers Gone', off their third album, 'Time', 'Can't Live Without' and finally off their last album, some really great songs, 'Angels Calling' and the incredibly inspirational song, 'Why". On, 'Who's Behind The Door' the main vocals are Randy Jackson but the harmonies backing him up are a combination of bassist/keyboardist Felix Hanemann and drummer Guy Gelso. They are a just three man band and just like Rush and Triumph it's hard to believe its just three people making the music. They were such a strong influence on me musically when I first started playing guitar back when I was a teenager. I saw them in concert often enough and it never got old they put on great shows every time I saw them, great musicians all of them. It's a shame they never got the high praises they so rightly deserved but they stayed on the scene and are still touring every now and then even to this day. I haven't had a chance to see them play live in years, but I did get a chance to see a live video of Randy Jackson not to long ago playing an acoustic version of Led Zeppelin's 'Carouselambra', the entire song from beginning til end and it was impressive.
Great song, cool band! Awesome 12 string intro by Randy Jackson! I ran out to buy the album after hearing this song for the first time (1983). Jackson has one of the most unique falsettos I’ve ever heard.✌️
Zebra the greatest band you never heard of….at one time in 83 this was Atlantic records fastest selling debut album ever but they couldn’t sustain any traction after this….they’re still performing today
This band had their own stripes... for sure. Not to be mistaken for several other similar groups at the time. They had their uniqueness that fans loved.... YES, RUSH, P.F. Zeppelin, Tull, Tramp, STYX, E.L.P., Kansas, Triumph and others all had their own something special this band fed off of for inspiration.
I saw these guys in Cleveland maybe the Agora Ballroom sometime in the 80s. I don’t know. ‘My recollection of the 70s and 80s is kind of blurry but, I do remember the bass player was a stand out with his style of play and the sound was incredible! thanks man.✌🏼
Brings back memories , but there's lots of classic rock to listen to, but I'll give you some more recent rock bands to try: "Gretta Van Fleet" and there label mates another family band but sisters from Mexico the "Warning" (my favorite right now) , "Liliac" family band also , "VOB" Voice of Braceprot (Indonesia) and a all girl very young Ukraine band now in Germany the "Sixsters" and "Dea Matrona" (Ireland).
Try Randy’s homage to John Lennon called “Lullaby,” which is hauntingly Beatlesesque, and from the second LP the title cut, “No Telling Lies.” Great band, terrific musicians (all three) and interesting backstory. New Orleans origins, inducted into to Louisiana Music Hall of Fame a dozen years ago, beside such greats as Louis Armstrong, Fats Domino, Mahalia Jackson and others.
The thing about this song from Zebra was it had several different feelings to it and it had so many different sounds compared to other groups at the time. You just couldn't really compare it to any one group. It had feelings of Triumph, Def Leppard, Tycoon, Sweet, Prism, Led Zeppelin, maybe a bit of Moody Blues, you just couldn't really pick one as a comparison. It's a shame that they didn't go any further.
I haven't heard this song in decades. Hearing now, wow these guys were 10 years ahead of their time. They sound like a 90s band. The only slam I got for Zebra is that awful mix and sound quality..but it was their schtick
These guys were unique enough to Not be compared to Zep. Tired of any band that has a Singer with high pitch, or whenever the sound comes close to a successful predecessor, they're automatically compared to Zep or Beatles, etc. It's a little demeaning to all the hard work, broken relationships, and more miles/km than you can possibly imagine just to sell their music.
Drop the Beatles thing dude, the beatles wished they could sound this good! I don't know where you get the beatles, thus band sounds nothing like them (thank God). Zebra is outstanding, highly underrated. Go back and listen to the beatles you are way off.
I tried to drop it the first time I heard them then I reacted to another song by them and heard the same thing 🤷🏾♂️. I’m not saying it’s a lot but there’s something there….. for me at least. Just an opinion.
Whoever suggested Zebra thank you I love you. I saw them about a year ago and when they're here in NY I'll go again.
Thanks for the reaction, I love this band. I have NO IDEA why they didn't make it big time.

I absolutely LOVE Zebra!!!
This was my first rock\heavy metal concert in 1985. They opened for Sammy Hagar. I was 14
“BEARS” you gotta do this one from Zebra !!!
It's a travesty that Zebra didn't get the exposure they deserved! I mean, listen to this.. unreal.
I LOVED this back in the day.
Love this song! That 12 string acoustic intro is priceless. A beautifuly constructed soundscape that transcends that typical 80's sound. This is art and it's music:)
Mellotron 8-Voice Choirs. One of the most hauntingly beautiful sounds ever!
Great reaction video. I remember the first time I heard this song on 98 Rock in Tampa. I was a new teen driver and this song came on and just blew me away.

Used to hear this on the radio occasionally back in the day!

They did some bad ass Zepplin back when they started.......CYO dances...how many of you out there from NOLA?
No Wonder, it sounded like Over the hills and far away
I introduced this song to a lot of people in my 78 Trans Am.

You are correct in your analysis. Fantastic reaction. Love it. Thank you. Please do Wait Until The Summers Gone by Zebra. It's a banger.

Young man, has anyone ever told you that you look just like Eriq LaSalle? It's remarkable. You could be his kid. Or his much, much younger brother.

Wow this is a first. Blast from the past for sure.

The song is about aliens.

checkin in...
When they first emerged on the scene, I thought for sure they were another UK band. Was surprised to learn they were from New Orleans.
Then relocated to NY where they got more exposure and played live shows all over the Tri-State area.
The Beatles blueprint is powerful many bands have followed that guideline❤
Well my Friend, that was another very in-depth and insightful comprehensive analysis of this complex song, as usual, no surprise, as expected... Smile
I cannot think of anybody that breaks down a song like he does.
@@BlizzardSeeker JM is all alone for the level of Quality in his reactions. I watch several for the past 5 years. Nobody can compare to his content.
🔥
Wait Until The Summer's Gone is my favorite Zebra song. Check it out!
"Action" by Sweet. (Give us a Wink album version).

Nearly sounds like Zeppelin in the beginning
They do Zepplelin very well

Another band with Zeppelin tones is Kingdom Come, some great hits
