- Learn how to do a brake job by changing the front and rear brake pads on your 2011 Toyota Camry 2.5L LE. The model shown here is the Camry 2.5L 4-cylinder, but the process may be applicable to other Toyota models and engine sizes. This how-to video lists the steps, tools, torque specifications, and tips in doing the job properly.
Shop quoted me 500 for the front brake pads. And had the audacity to tell me ill need to replace the calipers too because they don't push the pins back in. So it would be a total of 950. Because of your video I did the whole job in 1 hour and 900 dollars cheaper!
I like how you talked about what to look for if you even need to replace your rotors.
thanks for the comment
It is also a good idea to lube the caliper slide pins. I noticed you didn't do that.
One of the most neglected steps, but, very important not to seize the brake.
Very nice video! Also, thanks for the tips like disconnecting the brake line bracket and putting electrical tape on the lug wrench!
Good video. Why not take the time to clesn, inspect, grease the slider pins and rubber bushing?
Thanks for the excellent video! It really made changing out the brakes on my 2011 XLE a breeze!!
Glad I could help
great video! the chirping birds were a nice touch haha
Thanks for the detailed video. You are a good speaker and easy to understand.
You're very welcome, glad I could help.
Awesome vid Kris.....very concise and was able to see everything you did.....just brought a 2007 and I would like to do some work on it myself....this will make it easier
This is a great video for beginners and experts
Thanks for the positive comment
Great video great lighting... 2 notes 1 is make sure you're using brake cleaner before you work on it that stuff causes cancer your hands were covered in dust even with the gloves on you can still inhale it. The torque wrench only should be clicked once.
Good tips
to mr. Davidcolemanfl .
What happens if it Clicks 2 or 3 times, is it gonna overtight ??
@@Alamin311 Of course not, doesn't matter. Click away!
Well done, from ASE certified old mechanic. I would also recommend using break wash spray and even facemask.
Great tips and glad I could help.
My pleasure.@@KrisKasprzak

Perfect. Exactly what I needed to know and nothing extra. Thank you for making this vid!
Happy to help.
Hey it worked like a charm for me. Very helpful
Cool video man, the first that I see who covers the part of the caliper bolts that you need a wrench
You're very welcome.
Outstanding video, thanks.
I just want to Thank You too.. Easy to follow detailed Speaker ..
256k miles...still had over 50% of the pad on the fronts compared to the new ones..Amazing
impressive.
Very explanatory video, thanks from mexico is my first cars and first time changing brakes.
Glad I could help
Thank You👍
Glad I could help
This is such a great video. Excellent detail down to the settings on the torque wrench. I think this will be very helpful when I replace my pads. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
Question -- what additional steps would I need to take if I wanted to replace the rotors as well? Any additional lubricant I'd need to purchase? Anything else? It looks like they're really easy just to take off and replace but I'm not sure.
I believe they slip right off. Some cars have a screw that holds the rotors on but I don't recall this car having them--I just looked again at the video and i don't see any. replacing rotors is straightforward and doesn't require anything else (the bearings are actually part of the hub the rotors attach to so the bearings don't come off.
Make sure you paint the rotor hubs before installing to prevent rust (assuming they aren't already painted.)
Great clip
Crystal clear instructions . Thanks
This is great, do you have any more Camry videos?
Yeah, search to my channel I’ve got a few more.
@@KrisKasprzak any plans to make more?
Great video, very thorough very precise.
Original oem Camry front and rear pads lasted 265,000 miles and probably would have made it to 300,000. I went back with oem :)
Thank you I have to do this soon. 🤠👍
Any time
Very good video! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks bro..Great video. Saved me a bunch....
Thanks for the tutorial. Are there any special instructions regarding the emergency brake? Ty
Excellent guiding video. Thanks for posting.
You're very welcome, glad I could help.
Great video. I did mine yesterday. Question is it’s difficult to put the pads back in the caliper and it’s a bit frustrated. Do I have to put the wear indicator on the pads? As I need more room to put it back in.
I would keep the wear indicator. U sure the caliper piston was compressed in enough? I recall the pads pop in easily.
@@KrisKasprzak I used the old wear indicator and this time it pushed in easily. Thanks.
outstanding video
Thanks, glad I could help
Why are you supposed to attach only 1 clip to each brake-pad, and why is it supposed to be on the top instead of the bottom of the pads? What would happen if you attached a clip on the bottom instead? And what is wrong with attaching clips on both top AND bottom at the same time?
Dam man really good video. Thanks
do you use grease between shim and pad? thanks for the great video.
I put grease on the moving parts (the slide between the pad and the caliper).
Never put grease where you did.....never
thank you very much
Kris, thanks for your video in detail. My steer wheel tends to vibrate, I assume that I have warped rotor, is the front rotor warped or rear rotor warped?
Thanks
if your steering wheel vibrates all the time it's probably wheel balancing or wheel alignment, or worn tires. If your steering wheel vibrates only when you apply the brakes, it's probably the rotors. Replace them, don't try to have them turned, once they are warped, they really cant be fixed reliably.
Front
great. Thank you
Né need instructions to replace brake front brake pads on a 2011 Toyota tundra
Este compa explica bien detallado todo pero hace cosas innecesarias pero 👍
How do you not get air in the brake lines if you take them completely off? Just want to be sure so I dont need to bleed the lines after the job.
While the brakes are coming off, the brake lines are NOT disconnected. You do NOT (and should not) disconnect the brake lines.
I got it.. You are just taking the bracket off that holds the line still. Good info. Thanks for your reply.
Yes, just the bracket--glad you asked before disconnecting the line--bleeding is a pain.
Hi Kris, Can I ask how many miles on your camry when you change your break pad? I am also a Camry owner and I am glad that post these awesome videos here!
+刘航成 you will laugh at this response but my Camry had around 80,000 miles when i change the brake pads. The pads were fine and had a lot of life left in them, the only reason i changed them is to avoid the brake dust. The factory pads were very dust producing, my Aekobonos produce very little dust. Sounds like a silly reason (and it probably is), but dusty wheels was driving me crazy.
+Kris Kasprzak Thank you so much sir! I am studying at library and didn't bring a headphone so I didn't listen the audio part. My Camry is still young and it only has less than 30,000miles now. Probably won't change that for a long time and my LE version doesn't have a alloy rim. Love this car and I want to do so much on it by myself!
Друг! Огромное вам спасибо! Thank you very much!

(hopefully that translated OK)
What size wrench did you use on the slider pin?
where to get clamp tool open compresses
I got mine from Harbor Freight or $20 or so on Amazon.
You forgot to put lube on sliding pins. Other than that great video
As im skinny man. I rather prefer impact guns with Metric standard sockets set. When I looked at your work, Phew. I almost sweat like 1 gallon.
what size sockets do you need?
Would it be a problem if a put the clip on the bottom of the break pad?
Not sure I understand, sorry.
Awesome video thank you ..
You're very welcome.
What pads do you reccomended? Also, how much would be a fair amount to pay a mechanic?
Most mechanics I know charge about 60 or 80/hr.
@@mayn90s19 is this about a 1-2 hour job?
@@shapho4056 yeah bout an hour for a real shop. Rotors would cost you a little more, maybe 3. But ask around, you might get a better deal. You never know.
Some of the best mechanics I've ever met were only known by word of mouth.
What size wrench do I need that is thin to hold the slider pin in place while I looses the caliper bolt? Is that 14 mm as well?
did u watch the video
17 mm
Just wondering, no Brake system bleeding?
You don't need to bleed the brakes if you don't take the brake line off
Brake grease burn off....really? Why not take care and wipe it off, then use brake cleaner to dissolve it. Brand new brakes shouldn't start off their service life contaminated
Fret?....
I didn’t do half of any of this. I just took the old pads out and put the new ones in. I pressed the cylinder in and put it back over the pads. Took me like 15 minutes
This hurt watching as there was so many things he did wrong 🙄
He did a decent job. Everyone does things a bit differently and have their own standards.
If you know so much, why are you watching the video?
He does wrong technic
