Miami's stadium remodel was nothing short of a miracle. I was there in 2013 and it was in worse condition than Tropicana Field. Faded seats, cracking concrete, run down concessions and restrooms. It's beautiful now. I hope Raymond James Stadium in Tampa gets a canopy like Miami did.

I went to a Dolphin game this year and it's a whole new stadium. No exaggerating...

I hear you. At least Tropicana Field has a roof. That shithole was the Trop without a roof, and it was God awful. I ain’t even mad the Marlins got a new park. In an alternate reality, Jose Fernandez doesn’t die, and they’re competitive.

@@aaronscarpa7469 Small world, I went to high school with Jose. We only spoke like once or twice, but it was still such a shock when he died.

The Dolphins did a tremendous job renovating their stadium after the Marlins moved out. Looks like a whole new state of the art stadium doesn't look like anything like it's the same stadium. I am blown away.

A&M is crazy loud because its built tall instead of wide like Bama and OSU but, funny story; My wife is an A&M alum and since we live in Tennessee now, we decided to drive down to the TAMU v. Alabama game last year and it was actually fxcking deafening. I never thought it sounded all that loud on TV either but I ended up with a headache and my ears ringing for the next day and a half.

One thing that’s pretty cool about Hard Rock Stadium is the fact the the sunlight only shines on the other team’s sideline and a few rows beyond that. There could potentially be a 30° difference from the Dolphin’s sideline to the visiting team’s sideline.

Another place that did a good job is the former BJCC Arena, now called Legacy Arena, in Birmingham that just hosted NCAA tournament games last weekend. That place was an absolute dump for decades and it felt like you were in a time machine going back to the 1970s in there. Seeing on TV last weekend I couldn't believe it was the same place.

Even better... The Colorado Rockies did not soak the taxpayers for adding the Rooftop section to Coors Field. They had a slush fund and just did it.nSame with the massive scoreboard upgrade a few years ago. Both have been well-received by Rox fans.

Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati has drastically improved along with the team. When I was a student 20+ years ago, it was bland, empty, and cold on gameday. It's now a very exciting stadium, and they have plans to get up to 60,000 seats by expanding the upper deck around, while still retaining the music college's building in the south endzone.

  • @neneshubby

The reason you notice the crowd at A&M &Penn State, and places like that are because the announcers talk about their crowds constantly. At Bama and Ohio State they talk about the team because they you know, win titles.

Football sells hella out, and gets louder than some airplanes. You only really get proper noise by squaring the seats as much to the field as possible and trapping the noise by as many walls and seating sections as possible. The swamp is world renowned for a reason, and I say that as a huge Seminoles fan.

The white Sox originally were going to build there park in the suburbs. The had HOK, the firm that designed the Royals stadium, design their new park. They wanted what the Royals had. When they couldn’t build in the suburbs, they dusted off the plans and built it across the street from old Comiskey.

  • @jimpern

I'm a bit surprised that you would praise the expanded upper decks at Kyle Field after complaining about equally excessive upper decks in MLB parks. I think that the expanded Kyle Field looks excessive, but I guess that's the difference between college football and MLB baseball. I do agree that the renovated Hard Rock looks great; the only time I was ever there was for a Marlins game (when they still played there) on a hot day, and the upper deck was brutal. I think Orlando is planning to do something similar to Camping World Stadium to try and attract the Jaguars.

How can you not include Madison Square Garden’s 2010-13 renovation on this list? I love MSG, but prior to its renovation, it was a DUMP. Very ugly pink and teal seating, dim lighting, awful suites up at the top of the venue, extremely tight concourses that barely fit enough fans, and a very outdated scoreboard. What they did, gutting the arena, replacing all the seating, moving the suites way down, and both doubling the size of the concourses and remodeling them to celebrate MSG’s history was next level and saved the Knicks and Rangers from a sure fire move.
