The sculpture is still outside the stadium which is really weird because the last 5 years they have been trying to modernize the team image but they kept the old sculpture.
The Marlins removed: - The pool + club in left field - The home run sculpture - The aquarium behind the plate - Super fun uniforms, like the orange jerseys - The funky green walls - The big yellow “foul pole” in right field. Now it’s boring and bland, and left empty most of the season. Marlins fans deserve better.
Exactly! I thought the new color scheme was great with their 2012 rebrand. And those insanely green panels were popping. Now its just same as any other. Just boring. I remember watching their first game at marlins park. Ozzie as manager. Lotta hype around that team back then.
Jeter was the CEO not to be confused with majority ownership his departure was likely due to how leisurely they treated free agency not to say Jeter has no blame for any of that
Rumor has it in St. Louis, they’re starting to see the Arch in the skyline as a safety hazard, so they’re gonna go and replace it with drinking rails instead
Loved the hill in Houston but players chasing potential homerun balls have their heads turned to the ball, not the hill. They run up to it blind and trip and it probably is pretty dangerous. Not unlike a hockey player boarding another chasing a puck. I actually get why they axed it.
You are right. The sculpture at Loan Depot Park didn’t go too far. The Marlins placed it outside of the stadium. And yes, it is getting beaten down by the weather elements.
The coke bottle at turner field was nostalgic for me. I remember seeing it and the Chick fila cow while driving through Atlanta during Christmas. Im sad they didn't move it to Truist park along with the cow
I just discovered your channel and I have seen a couple of your videos so far and they are AWESOME! I love to see about different stadiums/arenas and see the different renovations and unique things different stadiums have. I just subscribed and can't wait to watch more of your awesome videos! Keep up the great work!
After the bullpen were removed from the field they now have the best bullpen in baseball. They are inside under the right field seats and are climate control. When I was a kid we would go to tiger stadium and their bullpens were on the field and the pitchers would sit on a bench on the field and during the game they would talk with us kids and sign autographs for us. Awesome memories!
I wouldn’t say it’s a huge feature but going to the cell and seeing the retired players faces on the left field wall like St. Louis was always nice to see
I grew up a Derek jeter fan my entire life even though my team is the Mets but I have to tell you he killed this stadium I visited it for the 1st time the year after they removed all of this and I was absolutely disappointed. I don't care who said what about the lime green walls it was different and Miami could get away with it!!!! The fish tank and also the thing in the back with the dolphin. I hate to make this personal but every single person that complains is from a cold bridal city in the midwest or the north east and they don't realize that the marlins are not an old team every stadium can't be made of brick I personally still like Marvin's park alot.
Houston could've kept the hill. Just move the Flag pole instead of removing the hill. so much fun watching center fielders run up that hill to keep a double from turning into either a triple or even an inside the park homerun
Flag pole was actually one of the cooler quirks; the whole thing was _in play._ A ball that was crushed could hit the top of it theoretically, bounce back to the field and still be in play. Nobody has any imagination anymore.
Wasn't it rumored that Bo Jackson hit the crown of the Royals scoreboard at Kauffman Stadium (then still known as Royals Stadium) during a workout there?
5:56 You forgot to mention the Blue Jays also got rid of the Sightlines Buffet (that was the open-air bar between the Windows Restaurant "greenhouse" and the bottom of the old scoreboard). For the 2022 season they put in a bigger scoreboard which covers up that area.
I don't know why he said Windows restaurant was an early 2000s thing. It was not, it was original to the SkyDome in 1989, and was pretty revolutionary at the time, along with the Hard Rock Cafe and hotel (not to mention the roof itself). They removed Windows in 2013, and have been trying to make the best of that concrete behemoth ever since.
That Marlins sculpture cost 2.5 million?! I've seen high school theater departments make virtually the same damn thing for $100!!... regarsless... I loved it. I love anythimg that makes stadiums UNIQUE . Too many new stadiums are cookie cutter.. like all soccer stadiums
I'm gonna look for vids of this during a home run. I worked @ MMP "Astro's" There is a locomotive, fire works + Texas flag waved during a victory! Now THAT'S a SHOW!
They removed the fish tank because people have no idea how difficult it is to keep up with a salt water tank. The money the time and the effort is insane
Love what we got at Kauffman Stadium, cautiously optimistic with what we'll get on the downtown park, but absolutely hate the lack of CrownVision (the scoreboard).
Honestly I think you guys should just renovate Kaufman, That new rendering looked rather similar just in a more modern style and at that point why not just renovate, Also bigger fountains if you do make a new stadium not small ones
Didn't last very long but I think for 1 or 2 seasons when it opened Target Field had pine trees in front of the batters eye. Got removed because hitters complained it made it difficult to see the ball
The reason y the marlins had the statue is because it was a way of knowing if the team had a home run sure u can c it on the Jumbotrons but it’s nice to know it when something in the stadium is active so that the fans can have that home run energy by actually seeing the home run celebration from something in the stadium for example The train at Minute Maid park Or when fireworks go off at globe life park and petco park
If that Adrian Gonzales Homerun landed in the sand box then it’s not gonna be on a petco park farthest home runs compilation. Because that would be a wall scraper
It just seems to be part of a trend of removing unique quirks in baseball parks to standardise them into the same sort of bland style. Which is a dreadful shame
It might have been unique but it was just absolutely hideous. EDIT: I also hated that hill too. There was no natural reason to have it. Plus the injury issue was big to me. I'm not that guy that that complains about injuries and safety issues when it comes to sports but that hill was absolutely pointless.
Hey Ginger love your videos very entertaining however can you include some videos? I mean pics are fine here and there but come on some videos of the stadiums and the fans will go a long way. Feel like we’re stuck in the 90s with just the static pictures. Use the available technology! Videos, 3D renderings, google earth view, apple 3d map etc…
Good video. I still haven't forgiven you for your horrendous straight-up NFL football predictions week 1 and week 2. I had a nervous breakdown. I was forced to sell my house. I got the help I need and I'm gingerly doing much better. But this year use a disclaimer or I will be forced to sue you for negligence.
Loan depot park was unique but when Derek Jeter took over the team he stripped away everything that was unique about the stadium and made it a rather boring stadium
It's kinda weird seeing these things that were unique to stadiums being removed, especially after all of the complaints of the previous cookie cutter stadiums 🏟 era.
I always thought the Marlins sculpture was hideous but cool at the same time. Something quirky that gave the park its own identity.
The sculpture is still outside the stadium which is really weird because the last 5 years they have been trying to modernize the team image but they kept the old sculpture.
It was ugly but also the most Miami thing ever
I always thought it was weird that Miami would spend a dime on a baseball stadium
The Marlins removed:
- The pool + club in left field
- The home run sculpture
- The aquarium behind the plate
- Super fun uniforms, like the orange jerseys
- The funky green walls
- The big yellow “foul pole” in right field.

I remember watching their first game at marlins park. Ozzie as manager. Lotta hype around that team back then.
Thank Jeter for that.
I always thought the aquarium was so cool. I thought it was so unique watching a game from Miami and seeing the aquarium behind home plate.
Pretty sure that most of the Marlins stuff got cut when Jeter became the represenative owner. Hr pretty much stripped away everything from that team.
It started when Fernandez passed, it accelerated under Jeter.
Lol Jeter had everything stripped then he left too.
Jeter left cause the owner was too cheap
Jeter was the CEO not to be confused with majority ownership
his departure was likely due to how leisurely they treated free agency
not to say Jeter has no blame for any of that
Fountains in Kauffman used to be the best. Loved it without outfield seating
Completely agree with you about Tal's Hill, I was upset when they removed that
To me, removing Tal's Hill was criminal (oh wait, houston.. home of the cheaters).. I loved that quirk..
They removed it so Alvarez could hit tanks over the batter’s eye 😉
Rumor has it in St. Louis, they’re starting to see the Arch in the skyline as a safety hazard, so they’re gonna go and replace it with drinking rails instead
Royal Stadium back when I was growing up in 80s and 90s was amazing
Loved the hill in Houston but players chasing potential homerun balls have their heads turned to the ball, not the hill. They run up to it blind and trip and it probably is pretty dangerous. Not unlike a hockey player boarding another chasing a puck. I actually get why they axed it.
I remember as a kid playing in the sand box at Petco, they have a new sand box for kids to play in now but they moved it up and shrank it
I liked that little hill in Minute Maid - they could've moved the fence forward and make it a little picnic area or something
Easily the worst area of any park ever.
You are right. The sculpture at Loan Depot Park didn’t go too far. The Marlins placed it outside of the stadium. And yes, it is getting beaten down by the weather elements.
Biggest takeaway from this video is drinking rails.
The coke bottle at turner field was nostalgic for me. I remember seeing it and the Chick fila cow while driving through Atlanta during Christmas. Im sad they didn't move it to Truist park along with the cow
The West Jet Flight Deck, which replaced the windows restaurant at Rogers Centre is one the best places to watch a Jays game. It’s a party atmosphere.
I just discovered your channel and I have seen a couple of your videos so far and they are AWESOME! I love to see about different stadiums/arenas and see the different renovations and unique things different stadiums have. I just subscribed and can't wait to watch more of your awesome videos! Just want to add one to the list: Wrigley Field use to have both bullpens in the field of play and after 2016 they got rid of them
After the bullpen were removed from the field they now have the best bullpen in baseball. They are inside under the right field seats and are climate control. When I was a kid we would go to tiger stadium and their bullpens were on the field and the pitchers would sit on a bench on the field and during the game they would talk with us kids and sign autographs for us. Awesome memories!
They actually added about 10 rows too. They dug it up to move the brick and they found sand beneath it.
As a White Sox fan, I really miss the Retired number player murals on the left field wall.
I wouldn’t say it’s a huge feature but going to the cell and seeing the retired players faces on the left field wall like St. Louis was always nice to see
I would argue the more significant features removed from Skydome were McDonald's Hot Dogs & an in stadium Hard Rock Cafe.
The marlins sculpture was sick lol.
Marlins fan here. The sculpture was worse than hideous.
At the K in 2012 home run derby I got a ball, it was one of the coolest things ever!
Wasn't it rumored that Bo Jackson hit the crown of the Royals scoreboard at Kauffman Stadium (then still known as Royals Stadium) during a workout there?

Who?

Not really "removed" but they used to fly an rc blimp inside Tropicana Field and drop coupons from it.
They use to do that for Minnesota twins when they played in the Metronome back in the early 2000s.
I did too, I wish they’d put the aquariums back behind home plate, but with shatter proof glass or maybe plastic
Dude u are pumping out videos like your life depends on it. Great stuff
They removed the fish tank because people have no idea how difficult it is to keep up with a salt water tank. The money the time and the effort is insane

I'm more shocked they built an open air stadium there.
Royals Stadium was legit beautiful with the grass berms and fountains. It's just a visual riot of ads and drunken fans now.
Bring back the Miami Home Run sculpture!
The reason y the marlins had the statue is because it was a way of knowing if the team had a home run sure u can c it on the Jumbotrons but it’s nice to know it when something in the stadium is active so that the fans can have that home run energy by actually seeing the home run celebration from something in the stadium
for example
The train at Minute Maid park
Or when fireworks go off at globe life park and petco park
Or when the apple rises up at Citi Field.
The Minnesota twine have Minnie and Paul sign that is in outer field that lights up when they hit a home run.
If that Adrian Gonzales Homerun landed in the sand box then it’s not gonna be on a petco park farthest home runs compilation. Because that would be a wall scraper
NGL your stadium reviews are amazing.
Loved Memorial Stadium 🏟️ In Baltimore back in the day.
The sculpture was annoying but the aquarium was cool
It just seems to be part of a trend of removing unique quirks in baseball parks to standardise them into the same sort of bland style. Which is a dreadful shame
It might have been unique but it was just absolutely hideous.
EDIT: I also hated that hill too. There was no natural reason to have it. Plus the injury issue was big to me. I'm not that guy that that complains about injuries and safety issues when it comes to sports but that hill was absolutely pointless.
What about the Devil Ray tank at Tropicana Field? Is that still there? Plus another stadium had a swimming pool in the outfield, maybe Arizona…
The Marlins sculpture was epic
Amen about that opinion on Kauffman Stadium.
Haven’t finished this yet but I hope he mentions Talls Hill
That sculpture looks like something you would see at Tomorrow World.
I thought the marlin sculpture was the largest eyesore on earth
No one ever seems to talk about the massive clock at nats park they removed the hands on it and now it’s just the logo out there.
Jeter completely gutted the Marlins. Absolutely ridiculous.
Y’all’s hill always reminds me of old Pittsburgh pirates field
Nice content as usual. Proposal, Stadiums that appear bigger/smaller than they are by capacity (Kyle field)
Michigan Stadium doesn't look all that big.
Dude I love these constant uploads keep it up!
* even though the ball didn't break the inner layer, the noise and vibrations from the balls hitting the tanks can cause the fish to die from stress.
Im still bitter they got rid of the Miami thing. It was unique.
I never liked Tal's Hill at MMP. I'm glad they got rid of it.
Bo Jackson hit the Royals batting helmet sign in the outfield in batting practice when they first got him
I swear didn't the Marlins used to have mermaids that used to swim in the pools somewhere in the outfield?
I don't know what's worse, removing that or the grass for crappy asteo turf grass.
That would take him too much time he tried to crank out as many videos as possible in as short time as possible.
The Astros' logo must of been where the cameras were.
Damn, that's mess up they took away the fishes season tickets😔
This Sunday, I’m going to see marlins vs Mets
Nah. Not everyone. Not “everyone.” Not rotting. Not rottin. Not nuts. Not nus. Not nuh. Not everyone. /
shoulda added the mt Davis addition to the coliseum, horrible move by Oakland
Marlins Stadium has so many great things including its own name. It sucks now!
Trees in the outfield at target field
Wen did "cool" become two syllables? "Coo-ewl"
Manufactured quirks like Tal's Hill to be like Fenway and Wrigley are stupid.
Pretty Interesting, Here, You Know?
Jeter doesn't like Sampson....
Tal’s hill was idiotic. Nothing worse than contrived stadiums.
I hated all of these gimmicks 😂
Loan depot park was unique but when Derek Jeter took over the team he stripped away everything that was unique about the stadium and made it a rather boring stadium
Like that thing in Florida now it's gone boo
I don’t think there was ever an injury associated with Tal’s hill. So the injuries excuse was pretty lame
Why are you depressed, Ginger? 😆
Good riddance to the sculpture!
Furst
Not gonna lie some of these look kinda ugly and horrible lol.
Kanas city is just that
Do Milwaukee Brewers Slide down the huge slide
It's kinda weird seeing these things that were unique to stadiums being removed, especially after all of the complaints of the previous cookie cutter stadiums 🏟 era.
I said to mom , they removed that marlins homerun thing
We loved it
