Hi! Yep, I sold it to goodbyecycle. Not sure if they still have it, but you could contact them online and see. Good luck!

Do you remember how much your Rohloff-equipped YBB weighed? Would you recommend using a Rohloff on the YBB? I'm building up an old 26" YBB frame and am trying to decide whether to use a Rohloff or conventional drivetrain like the Shimano XTR. I'll ride it on XC single track and as an urban commuter. Many thanks!

+David Doak Oh dang, I don't remember the weight (I should!) - it was low-mid-20s US pounds. Not feather light at all, and the Rohloff is heavy. I'm sure you've researched it and know the advantages of an internal hub, as well as the tradeoffs. It's hard to say if I would recommend it because it is a bit oddball. I loved it overall. The single biggest unexpected issue is with the shifter cable lining getting shredded and binding up, causing shifting to be troublesome, when it's so buttery smooth and amazing when all is working well. I don't know the current state of the art, but my lesson learned was to avoid any of the fancy sealed cables, even though they sound cool, and stay basic and keep the cable clean. Being able to shift without rotating your crank - just boom, it's in gear - is an entirely new way of riding technical single track. Good luck!

Wondering if any US bike makers offer production (non-custom build) models with the Rohloff hub? The major makers don't offer ANY internal hub models. Why?

The Rohloff is an option on some. I don't know of any production bike that a Rohloff is standard. Why? Because it expensive.
