Nice modification and I also like that you kept the original play features. I know a few people complain as to why LEGO doesn’t enclose the buildings, but lets face it, this was built to be played with by kids and I like when us adults keep the play features. Nice job!
Thanks! I agree...it's all about playability for kids. I think those play features are always pretty cool so I try to keep them. Thanks again for your support Patrick!
This is still one of my favorite Dr McBrick instructional videos-- your creativity in fleshing out Privet Drive into a real house helped me to see that some of the Friends sets might not look half bad in a regular LEGO City/town if the back part of the set were also built onto the shallow fronts.
I'm sooooo happy you did this. The first thing I thought when I seen this set was "I wish it was a full house." I figured I'd just buy 2 sets & build it into 1. This turned out great!!! Just made my night so much better. Awesome work Dr.McB 😀😁👍👍👍
The screened in gazebo as you called it is a conservatory. A pointless addition to houses in the UK, too hot to use in the summer and too cold to use in the winter! 🤣
Thanks for this Mike! I have two of these sets just like @Triple D Honey to merge them into a nice creator styled full house, just did not got around to it😊 - Love your outcome!
Janet Lutter LOL. Yes...for a company that is so mathematical, you’d think they’d know about the 4 walls thing lol 🤣. But cost and playability and all that lol
AidansBrickFilms It is for playability that they only have 2 or 3 walls only. My MOC has the roof and ha,f the wall come off so you can still get in there but I only really need it now to be accessible for photos.
Excellent job ! It definitely looks like a typical detached suburban British house, looks seamless how you've matched the back definitely shows your building skills off, would love to see more videos like these! Cheers Doc 👍
Thanks so much Ray! I appreciate the kind words and I'm hoping to do more of these moc/mod videos. I have another one I'm doing but it won't be out for awhile. You might have a good idea of it based on a few pics I posted to my patreons. ;-)
This made me extremely cozy and was such a nostalgia trip, brought back a lot of childhood memories of creating Harry Potter Lego MOCs. I’m gonna catch some Z’s now 🙂
Also it occurred to me that, so solve the issue with the gaps for the hinges, you could just extend the wall out on that side by 2 studs then the hinges would go straight across on the outside (if you see what I mean) and the understairs cupboard would still swing out. Still it's a a great MOD.
Oh my gosh this is so cool the thing that always bothered me about LEGO is that sometimes it’s literally just the half and it makes me upset thank you so much for this
Great little MOD. I think you're right not to get two sets as you probably don't need two of the car or the interior details. I notice that there's a vertical line between the bricks that form the front of the house and those that form the (new) back of the ground floor. I wonder, if you re not expecting to be able to remove the back part, whether it would be better to bind those bricks across the gap. There's a similar gap at the upper floor e.g. next to Harry's window (I think there's a 1 x 1 x 5 brick there) that could do with some binding. Also the roof on the back is one plate higher than the roof on the front, I guess that's due to the plate that forms the upper floor in the back part of the house. You could add a layer of tiles to the front walls to correct that. Those houses are typically of that area (the original one was shot in a real street in Bracknell, I believe, until they made a replica in the studio lot. The conservatories that you see at the back of those houses are typically added later by the owners as you can see from the Google maps image they are not essential to the house (and I don't remember seeing one in the Harry Potter movies). I like the downpipes on the house (you probably also need one at the back) but I think the bars on Harry's window are too chunky and would be better made out of just LEGO bars (e.g. a 4M bar or 'lightsabre'. Overall it's a very effective MOD and great to keep all the play features of the set.
Thank you fir all of great ideas. I appreciate them. I’ll probably leave things as is though as there’s a huge backlog of work to be done as you know it never ends with Lego. LOL. But I would definitely do these if I had the time. Great ideas.
Cool modification, I’m tempted to make my copy of this set as a modular style build....just curious, which Harry Potter movie did you like the most? I liked the first one...
Love the modifications a lot, but I see one potential issue sadly... the arm width on a standard Minifig requires space on both sides of the two foot studs to pose... the three wide staircase could pose a problem, or as I like how you modified it for Harry’s room, I’m going to leave my stairs area permanently off limits to climbing figs, hehe... 👍. Thanks for the videos tho - these ‘complete what LEGO started’ ones are my favorite! Brian
I agree with you. It is such a tight space inside the house that's why I didn't add any furniture and ultimately decided not to do another room upstairs. Thanks for the kind words.
And you're pretty close on the look. They do usually have the sliding doors. The Conservatory (our name for it) is something they've added, not standard.
Love it. Great work, glad to see someone making the half/doll house buildings into full structures. The one thought I had while you were building, what about using a 2x2 tile with a picture on it [similar to the one above the fireplace] to cover the gap on the stairs, as opposed to the 1x2 nugget tile?
That's a great MOC! Very well done and love how you've kept the original mainly. I was thinking with the hinge issue, you could have used the headlight an a cheese slope too, that way it would be flat. Or rather than the tile, why not hang a picture there? I've been eyeing this set, but soooo expensive for it's size! The bigger Burrow set is better value in my opinion. What do you think?
That is a beautyfull MOD!!!! You did a great job! My plan was to do roughly the same but not enough pieces I'm afreight so it stays open for a while i guess...
I am from britain and it looks accurate to a house Kinda reminds me of my neighbors house who keeps throwing pianos out his window and then setting them on fire
Dr. McBrick how many sidewalk pieces are in sixfigs and I may make a Legoland Florida amusement park and I will reference off of your amusement park in terms of size and some of the things I want to put in
0:50 in the prisoner of Azkaban you can see the house from the back when Harry inflate the aunt (a shot in which the aunt flies from the backyard into the sky).

Dr. McBrick name the residential street after the set
Your MOC is great, you have really build it in a good scale and kept all the playfeatures, so you basically “fixed“ the official LEGO set, great work!
Thank you!
Looks very good! 👌🏻
Thanks
Amazing job honestly
Can we just appreciate ma guys talent
Wow Dr this is a great addition to this set. Very nice
Thank you!
Love the moc Doc 👍. Like how you make the original set better, just by extending it!
Thanks!

That’s very nice! It would be interesting to try to make the Diagon Alley set into full modulars....that would be an awesome project
You mean the new one?
My LEGO MOCs & MODs yes 😁
@@brickartisan yes, that would be really great! And they used baseplates for the Diagon Alley buildings, right?

Thanks. You're right. This would make a great row of houses. Pricey, but pretty cool looking.
How can I get all the accessories to form the back of the house? I'm from Mexico, sorry if I don't write very well

@8:20 why not use a 1x1 cheese wedge instead of the tile? Should fit and resembles the gap from the 1x2 cheese wedge to the right.
Great build btw!
Very nice work, question do you have any instructions on building the house??
Allison Lythgoe Thank you. Unfortunately, I do not have instructions. I just kind of winged it.
Dr. McBrick welcome, no worries
would it be okay if you could help me, build the house? I love the design of it. The moc section??

Redman Designs I thought about it, but didn’t want to vary too much from the original footprint of the set.
idk why Lego doesn't give us the full houses. I have the Burrow and I want them for display purposes and it's just stupid that the back is not covered
It makes it really difficult to display them that’s for sure.
