Growing up in the 70s and 80s I was amazed at these movies glad to see Star Ace creating these beautiful collectibles
I feel they do great justice to the franchise for sure! Must have been so amazing to see these movies for the first time when they were coming out!
I always loved that old stop motion animation, especially Ray Harryhausen.
it's so mind blowing! - can't believe how much hard work those scenes must have taken!
Always feel that " Clash of the Titans " never gets enough love. But it's beautifully done and has tons of atmosphere. So it's my favourite even though I recognise that " Jason " is the masterpiece amongst Harryhausens filmography.
Idk if it doesn’t get enough love. To this day it’s still referenced in colleges, cinephiles, movie collections ect. There’s been loads of documentaries. And you can find his work in a lot of places.
I feel like his Sinbad movies get less love haha -but totally agree - A MASTERPIECE!
@@palexanderrice It is fondly remembered for sure, except for when it comes time to release collectibles for it. It seems like every year there is a new Ymir or Cyclops available. There hasn't been a Medusa released since the Gentle Giant version many years ago.
Clash is my least favourite.
I'm going to see an exhibition of Harryhausen's actual models and tools in 3 weeks in Scotland. I'm so excited to see the real pieces!
Oh wow!!! That’s going to be such a great experience! I’m jealous haha hope you have a great time 👍👍
That movie still pretty awesome! Very well done back in that time. The Talos statue is very nice. 😃✌🎈
I watched a documentary on Ray Harryhausen and the interesting part was how he went about doing the chorography of the figures. First off he never let anyone disturb him while filming, simply for the fact as to not lose his place. Back in those days there was no way to reference the movement so all was done by memory. It's just incredible what he did for movies and I got to say I'm jealous that you have that wonderful peice!
That’s a great figure. I’m glad to see Harryhausen getting some “love” from the collectibles makers. Favorite movie by Harryhausen is Clash of the Titans 1981.
You know what would be sweet? Stop motion grade figures with crazy articulation!
@@LauraLegends These types of figures sorta does exist, but they're masterpiece scale Transformers. The well made one have crazy levels of articulation, and there are a ton of stop motion Transformer channels on RUclips due to those figures being so good for stop motion.
@@LauraLegends - Ooooo! Yeah!
@@LauraLegends There is a good doc about him on Amazon prime video one thing the guy had was patience.
@@cindysue5474 - I’ve seen that! You’re right it is very interesting and entertaining. I’m close to 60 chronologically (mentally much younger, 😆) and as a youth in the 1970s those movies were prime viewing! I love Harryhausen and the stuff he did so I’m very happy to see his legacy being made front and center for what is now a bygone art form. Long live DYNAMATION!
When I was really young, I watched this as a late, late movie on TV.
Being Greek myself, I felt it was part of my heritage (haha)--then mom & dad gave me a book of the original Greek myths and I understood the "real" tale of Jason & the Argonauts.
Wonderful information about the movie, the original story, and the figure.
Laura Legends, my mentor. :)
Aww haha thank you!!! Maybe you are related to Jason!?!?! 🙌 Fantastic culture!
@@LauraLegends haha. Could be. :)
See i was marathoning your toy hunts and you make a new video! Magic! Lol
The stars are perfectly aligned 🙌
@@LauraLegends hey hey laura....i found a boglin...at Walmart of all places! 🤣
Great review with the history, Laura! More of these please!
Thank you!! I always think people get tired of my background history rants 😂
@@LauraLegends I love them, being a younger audience member it helps me to know and connect with the subject.
Loved this. My dad used to work for Harryhausen when he moved to England. Clash of The Titans is still pretty cool - as for the figure, totally awesome but can’t help but think some magnets in the feet and base might be an idea!
Love Ray harryhausen moves they never get old watching them he all ways made the best of the older moves I am getting older now still love to watch his moves. Love you show keep them coming
Hi, Laura Legends. Thank you for Great Video Unboxing and Review! By the way, I'm the Packaging Designer for this Masterpiece from Star Ace and Harryhausen. Nice to know your channel, just Subscribed for you channel :)
One of the nicest packages I’ve seen in a while! Clean, classy, with a dark fantasy vibe -brilliant work! 👍
AWESOME!!!! I had the good fortune of meeting Ray Harryhausen and his wife many many years ago. Such a nice gentleman!
Nice. I haven't seen the Sinbad film but I saw the first Clash of the Titans. It was awesome.
I also saw the more recent version with Sam Worthington. The effects were all modern CGI and much smoother but much less memorable.
check out Jason and the Argonauts on RUclips! full movie is on here!
Please do watch it. Such very cool movies
Love the figure and diorama! This was my favorite Ray Harryhausen movie! I saw it in the theater as a kid. When the skeleton solders popped up, my jaw dropped to the floor! I loved it.
Awesome statue
Very!
0:01 I am Ripper... Tearer... Slasher... Gouger. I am the Teeth in the Darkness, the Talons in the Night. Mine is Strength... and Lust... and Power! I AM BEOWULF!!!
Half a century since I first saw Jason and the Argonauts as a kid and still in my top 10 favourite movies of all time.
First thing dad said was "Totally Freaking Awesome!" then remarked it is out of our price range. Cool review, definitely love the display and Jason and the Argonauts is my favorite movie but can enjoy any of them. Thanks for being Legendary.
Agreed - all enjoyable haha I feel like you can’t NOT like his films 😂
FANTASTIC !!!
I agree BB!! 🤗
As a lifelong Ray Harryhausen fan, I made some stop motion films. They are extremely time consuming and tedious to make for just a few seconds of film. When I filmed outside, you can see the sun's shadow lengthening. So much respect for Mr. Harryhausen after doing that.
I've probably seen just about all his movies from Mighty Joe Young and 20 Million Miles to Earth to the more recent Jason & the Argonauts and Clash of the Titans. My favorites would probably be Jason and Clash.
Poor Oatie, getting his sack snipped. Awesome statue though. Looks amazing.
oh shit, no one show this to my dad. he loved Jason and the Argonauts, he even owns the movie on dvd. he would go nuts over this statue. lol.
I'll keep it on the down low haha
@@LauraLegends LOL. thank you, my friend.
Poor pup will pray for him. And you :) Great review thank you:)
Hard to pick a favorite Harry film, Jason, Clash and many of the Sinbad movies all hold a special place in my heart ☺️❤️
I remember watching this movie when i was a kid, it fascinated me, specially the scene when they fight the skeletons, they were nicely animated to.
Great review of this recreation of an iconic character in Ray's masterpiece film.
Awesome piece- thanks for doing coverage of it- please please do more Harryhausen stuff in the future!!
I watched these movies with my dad all the time when I was young. Your video brought back many fond memories, thank you.
First Laura Legends upload of 2022 is a good one! My favorite Harryhausen work is the Kraken but also Medusa, she scared the crap out of me when I was little.
My condolences to Odie no balls, give him extra pats and cheese.
When I was a kid, Jason and the Argonauts, Forbidden Planet and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken were my three favorite movies. Keep in mind this was a few years before Star Wars. Whenever they would run one of these films on television, my butt was parked on the carpet in front of the TV set.
Happy to know there are more Ray Haryhausen movie fans out there!
My Favorite are the Skeltons Love them:)
Love Ray Harryhausen's films.
Wow freaking awesome!!!
One of my favourite movies , great video thank you 💚☘
My favorite Harryhausen creature is probably the Troglodyte from 'Sinbad & the Eye of the Tiger'. Would love to have him as an action figure some day.
Ya that’s a great character -always loved the look of his mouth region haha
@@LauraLegends - 😂 I think I know what you mean. There was something about him & the way he was animated which made you believe he was a living, thinking, creature & not just a latex puppet. To me, it was probably his eyes.
That looks so cool! Always loved that movie.
Super video, I remember my big brother brought me to go see Sinbad at the Movies when I was just a kid. I was totally blown away by the visual effects. It left a lasting impression on me 100%. Thanks for re-sparking my interest in this amazing artist. Be well Happy 2022. ps.hope yer pup has a speedy recovery!
I used to watch those movies with my brother, the old days of 13 channels on the television. I hope Odie heals soon.
Aww I hope Odie feels better soon enough!
Nice review! Looks so awesome!
Great review of Talos! I died laughing in the beginning at the 0:49 mark when you were saying you were sneaking in your toy room to do the review. I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. Sqirrel Goblins rule!
Great review! Love the history as well.
Great review Laura…..and as stunning as ever! 👍🏻
Wow! that toy is magnificent 😮 Great history lesson also Laura 👍🏻
That's cool!! Ray Harryhausen was a legend! Favorite Movie besides Clash of the Titans by Mr. Harryhausen, Earth vs The Flying Saucers, simply a classic!!
Great review, enjoyed it very much. 👍👍
Great review Laura , My favorite was Jason and the Argonauts but they all where fascinating.
Your channel is growing well, in terms of content, production and your own natural presence in front of the camera. Always entertaining, great job!
Thank you so much for the lovely comment! 🤗🤗
@@LauraLegends Thank YOU for producing content that is engaging to fans of this hobby, and more than that, always seems light-hearted, genuine and sincere!
You just find the coolest ever toys and models!!
Love this video great job
Thank you! 🤗
Holy smoo that's awesome!!!
Superb statue !! To me, Clash of the Titans (1981) is the best and Medusa my favourite monster. Wonderful memories.
Love that!!!! Awesome! 👀🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😉👍👍👍
Loved Harryhausen movies growing up…in fact I still do! Wish I had room for these.
Brilliant! I saw Jason And The Argonauts at the cinema when I was seven, waaay back in 1971. Talos scared the bejeezus out of me. He invaded my dreams for many months. The part where Hercules and Hylas come out of Talos' plinth, and despite warnings, Hercules has removed a giant, spear sized needle, and, with an horrific metallic screech, Talos turns his head to look at the two microscopic men, still brings me out in goosebumps. That was how good Ray Harryhausen was. He made you believe utter impossibilities, without using CGI (as it did not exist), but skill, craftsmanship, and extreme patience. He was a true genius.
The giant crab from 'The Mysterious Island' was a real crab, that Ray bought when it was alive, and had it humanely dispatched, and then he and his wife got rid of the shell's contents in the best way, ie. lunch, and then Ray made an armature for the legs and claws, and made new latex parts to bring the decapod back to 'life'.
Wow that must have been AMAZING to see this film I’m theatres as a young’n! Such a scary scene for sure! Especially for a 7 year old! - I really like the depiction of Hercules in this film, he seemed like a REAL man’s man… an ordinary man but strong enough that people would regard him as a hero/‘god among men’. Hahaha thank you for the crab fact 😂 I didn’t know it was lunch
@@LauraLegends - It's funny, but that's how I've always pictured Hercules/Heracles - not as someone with the physique of 1980's Arnie, but as a normal sized bloke, who just happened to be superhumanly strong, and super intelligent (who else would think of diverting a river through horrendously dung filled stables to clean them out?).
Nigel Green's portrayal of him in this movie is top notch. Nigel Green was a great character actor on TV and Film in the 1960's. He's superb as Major Dalby, the boss of Michael Caine's Harry Palmer in 'The Ipcress File' (1965).
Hey Laura, great video, I love harryhausens work so much my favourite film being the Valley of gwangi,
Wow! t's a great and nostalgic figure. I pre ordered the Cyclop from Sinbad,
Love Harryhausen! My favorite movie is Jason and the Argonauts, but my favorite creature is the Cyclops from The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad.
i wish Odie well ,it sucks to be sick, one of the best movies of all time.love ya.
Thanks Dan! He's feeling much better lately! GREAT MOVIE!
Hey Laura I love ❤️ your videos of collection toys 🧸 they are really really super awesome 🤩
Awesome vid!!! 😎 👍 ❤
When I was a boy seen Freaking Talos came to live with that metallic sound I remember You just want to hide somewhere, cause You feel that You are in the ship too. 😁🙃
love it!
That Talos Ray Harryhauen is dope not going to lie it's epic
Great video Laura! Hugs & kisses
Hi Hi Tim! We hope you are doing well! Hugs from Canada!
Jason and the. Argonauts clash of the Titans. Cool video.
Edition numbers give it that rare feeling. You can always be certain of how many were made. Love it when it has those numbers.
Great video, love ur shirt must get one
that bronze texture :-D nice!
Love the channel. Didn’t know if you have ever done a top 10 or something most valuable or rarest toys you have in your collection. Thanks for the videos
Can't shake The Valley of Gwangi from being my fave Harryhausen movie😀
Great film and Review!. I'm a massive fan of Ray Harryhausen. Many happy memories watching these films as a kid.
There's a touring exhibition at the moment. If it's heading to your neck of the woods. I'd definitely go!. There's also a book accompanying the exhibition. Well worth grabbing copy too.
Cool review Laura
Great review as usual Laura. I agree with the pegs idea, vinyl has a tendency to lose its shape if room conditions are not ideal. It will soften up and he can tumble over since he stands with a lean already. I just got the Rhedosaurus from Star Ace and it’s incredible. My favorite HH is always and will forever be Clash of the Titans.
Talos used to frighten me witless when I watched that film as a small child.
RIP Ray Harryhausen - give me any of his thoughtful, ingenious designs and effects over modern day CGI any day
Yes, Michael Bay - I'm talking to YOU
Got a 12 inch Talos from a Japanese company several years ago, but that ones given me Talos envy.
As far as the joins on the wrists go, he's a bronze statue. So he probably would have joins on his joints.
Star Ace do some superb figures, but they're quite pricey. I got a great Steve Mcqueen in the Great escape from them.
I would love to see a Medusa from Clash of the Titans. That would be awesome.
Ahh good point on the wrists! Perhaps that was the case? Would be interesting to know how bronze statues were actually created back in the day? And yes! A good Medusa would be great, also would love a troglodyte, snake lady from 7th voyage and a calibos!
@@LauraLegends Or 6 Skeleton Warriors against Sinbad or Jason or whoever it was. 💀
Favorite Harryhausen movie? Sinbad! I could watch it over and over.
Poor Odie! Hope he recovers soon.
He's feeling a lot better thank you!!
Very first movie I saw at a drive-in as a child lol, so epic! That and Clash of the Titans both rock!
Awesome Talos figure in all his Patina Glory 💪
Patina POWWWWWWWEEERRR!
Epic!
I have seen maybe two or three Harryhausen animated movies from Finnish TV channels ages ago. But since a lot of time has passed since then, I can't remember much about them. So... I would love to see them all again some day.
That is an awesome statue and looking gorgeous Laura 😍
🤗🤗🤗
@@LauraLegends 🥰🥰😘
XTC - Jason and the Argonauts is one of my favorite songs. There may be no golden fleece but human riches I release.
Classic Statue
Hi Laura! Awwwww poor Odie. One of my favorite movies of all time. Beautiful figure! Great Video! Well done young lady! Have a good one!👍
I grew up with movies by his films. I'm 53....So his movies where new to me on tv
great video, now I must watch Jason, and Clash of the Titans again! I loved that unique animation style.
Definitely would need the base if you were to purchase this. Looks good.
Great job on this video you did really great Laura I have not thought of that movie in a long time I have not seen that movie in a long time I hope it's just as good as I remember.
Maybe it'll be even better than you remember haha
Hi Laura! Great to see you back on here and looking lovely as always! Glad to hear that Odie is doing ok. Please give him a big hug for me. That Talos fig looks amazing! What exquisite details. Speaking of Ray Harryhausen, I watched "Clash of The Titans" on DVD a couple of days ago.I've seen it many times when I was a kid. I'm almost 50 years old, and I still watch it to this day. Perhaps I can send you your own copy for your RV. Great job on your review. You have a very good eye for detail and they're very thorough. Hope you're doing well and are staying safe. Be well my lovely friend. 😊❤️🌹
I’ll give him a big hug from you right now! He’s just resting on my lap as we’re watching Restaurant Impossible haha - it’s funny how you just watched clash a few days ago -what timing! But yes, I agree with you, these movies are still a treat to watch and have aged very well! I’ll have to keep my eye out for some DVD’s in the thrift store 😂 -much love Ed take care!
@@LauraLegends Same to you doll. ♥️😊🙏🌹
Love the vids!
❤❤
I really like that movie Hercules and I like that scene with Hercules and Medusa and I hope you feel better Odie
Oh yeah, I think Rebore is making a Gwangi. That's also my favorite Ray Harryhausen movie.
It has to be Jason and The Argonauts, what a classic.
WOW! 👍
Great review. Got this guy myself. StarAce has some get stuff. I also got their Kong and Gwangi figures.
