    Your GFCI diagnostic was spot on, that was my problem. However I had the job all set up and ready to go on this, one of the last warm sunny days here in the Northeast. I replaced the GFCI with a regular plug (sketchy, I know) and was able to finish the job. Now I'll order and install the GFCI as per your link, thank you.

    I have watched people replacing a two pronged GFCI on Ryobi, and I noticed something common that people who need to replace the GFCI for a two wire plug. The wiring on the two pronged GFCI is incorrectly wired at Ryobi, because I don't see this problem with other GFCI plugs. The GFCI that Ryobi puts on their pressure washers have the WHITE (neutral) wire connected to the Line terminal, that is the HOT terminal, and the BLACK (hot) wire going to the neutral terminal. It will still work, but when the orientation is reversed, it does damage to circuit boards and thus, eventually the machine stops working because the circuit board is shot.
    If you have a two pronged GFCI plug, don't wire it the wrong way!
    The correct way is BLACK wire on the LEFT terminal which has a marking that says "L",
    and the WHITE wire on the RIGHT terminal that has a marking that says "N".
    Black on left ☜ side,
    White on right ☞ side !
    Most people that rewire the wrong way, are unfamiliar with electricity or electronics and just rewire a factory mistake because they think that is the correct way. I hope this helps anyone who is unfamiliar with the mistake made by Ryobi's wiring and take time to follow these simple instructions on how to rewire correctly and save your next circuit board on the GFCI

      I purchased it from Amazon. I added the link to the part in the description of the video. It's no the official Ryobi replacement part but it did work for the power washer in this video.

    seems like a common weak link with electric pressure washers. mine failed as well....easy fix though

    • @TryAdaptLearn

      I think that if not an internal design flaw, it may happen when they have shorter cords and/or are use with an extension. By best guess is that the gfci kept hitting the ground while transporting, rather than picking the end of the cord (with gfci) up anytime the machine is moved.

  • @rodneykahn6927
    @rodneykahn6927 Год назад +1

    that is a strange fault--the gfci lights up normally, but is not allowing current through.
    ive heard some ppl troubleshoot that by trying just a standard plug without gfci

    My light doesn't come on at gfci or on pressure washer should I still replace gfci?

    • @TryAdaptLearn
      @TryAdaptLearn  Год назад

      You may want to double check the power outlet, then check the power to the GFCI and motor on the machine. You can also shake the GFCI to hear if anything is loose. If the machine is unplugged, it will allow for a visual inspection when the GFCI is disassembled. Please be safe when testing electrical current.

    Can I replace this with a standard plug? No GFCI

    • @TryAdaptLearn
      @TryAdaptLearn  9 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your question. I am not an electrician and this is my opinion and only an opinion: Any GFCI on electric power washers should always be replaced with the GFCI for that machine. Even if the power washer is plugged into a GFCI outlet/receptacle, the properly working GFCI on the cord will provide a shut off incase of a ground fault and/or water hazard. This should shut off the electricity to prevent or minimize the time the operator is shocked or electrocuted.

      There would need to be electrical tests done to see if the electrical current is still is then flowing to the motor. Please be safe (or get an electrical professional) when testing electrical current and make sure everything is completly dry in, on, and around the machine.

    I turn on my pressure washer before putting in water hose...it turn on then off...then the cgfi is red won't reset

    • @TryAdaptLearn
      @TryAdaptLearn  Год назад

      I'm sorry to hear about this. It's hard to know why you GFCI is red and will not reset. It may be related to turning the machine on before the water hose was connected, If so, the problem may be with the machine itself along with or instead of the actual reset button on the GFCI.

      Thank you for the feedback. I apologize that one word would keep you from watching the video again. Next time, I'll likely use the word "switch" as much as possible instead of button to avoid the mispronunciation as much as possible in future videos. I mispronounce and misspell a lot of words but hopefully the main ideas of what I am doing in the videos will still be able to be communicated.
