I have been crazy for this show since 1979............so much to love i thrown it on every once in a while still watch some of my favorite moments. The emotions it elicits are still as strong as they ever were.
Even though this is scifi, it's closer to reality than any of the "entertainment" in this century. It embraces noble qualities of honesty, good prevailing over evil, the power of love.
Me too!! Here in west texas back in 79-81. Show time reliability was so spotty. Not in order, sometimes not shown on time. Then cancelled. Not knowing the complete story to this and Battle of the Planets has been a thorn in my soul. This and the uncompleted translation of Area 88 manga that is.
This episode has to have some of the most powerful scenes in all of anima... the conversation between Trelaina and Zordar (the SBY original lines were the best) and Trelaina transforming her whole planet into a big bomb against the CE as a gesture of love for Venture.

wow. words spoken btwn The prince and tralayna are amazingly true/self evident here in 2023 in more than one world event. ppl are lazy and don't want to think for themselves and are content/complacent to have their life path chosen for them (sounds like the ppl the CE is supposed to represent in the real world, complain about life, but don't do anything to change it)...
I believe this was the first Anime with a continuous storyline and in depth character development. I believe Star Blazers was originally release in 1976 with mixed reviews but exploding with popularity in 77 / 78 with the release of Star Wars.
Yet it's funny in a way the Quest for Iscandar the Argo-Yamamoto defeated the Gamilon's on it's own yet in this series if it were not for the scene you just saw and a fleet of wave motion guns. the Starforce would not have stood a chance
Why didn’t she destroy the common Empire right then and there? Millions and millions of people died on the planet earth when the common Empire attacked. She eventually finished the job but too late.
It's good to know others feel as strongly as I. This isn't just a show. It's a way of life.

The star force was just a little but OP in season 1. kinda glad they dialed it back a little otherwise it would've gotten boring.
