you can see in the video just how streaky the clear went on. I've had good results doing rattle can jobs but it took 4 coats of clear gradually getting heavier each coat to get it looking really nice.
All about that prep! Same process I did for my 85 4runner rock crawler. Love how’s its coming together definitely some great work. I’m a small channel just starter a few weeks ago but I hope to start really getting into it. Only videos I have up are just random videos from some of my rock crawling trips but heck it out!
One up on gradually getting heavier with every clear coat. The key is nice, slow, long strokes with the can. Almost let it "fall" on at first until you get closer/heavier with the 4th coat. Very nice job though, been keeping up with the build and love the work you put in🤘🏽
Enjoying your videos, but pleaseeee pleasee wear some PPE! Between the flap discs and grinding all that rust dust off the frame and sanding this paint you need to wear a respirator!
loving your channel, it's inspiring me to get my shit done and stop being so lazy on my 3rd gen! If you have another rattle can project requiring clear coat, might I suggest using USC 2K clear. it's expensive but still in a rattle can. It's a part paint so you have to press a pin on the bottom of the can to activate it, but it atomizes so much wider than any other clear can I've used and lays down super well for the rattle can aficionados. Cheers 🍻
Try this spray can clear coat next time, Spraymax 2k clear glamour, it's a 2 part can with a hardener and is in my opinion the only good spray can clear out there. I did a duplicolor clear once and it all came off when I was using a sap and tar remover product...never again!
I rattle canned my 3rd gen. I get compliments on it all the time. "Hey what color is that?" That's home depot green.
Home Depot is Orange lol....
@@michaelstanick lol good point. Maybe I should just say rustoleum green
Put in the prep and rattle can jobs turn out decent. Perfect for older rigs.
Just bought my first 3rd gen 4 runner, bone stock and super low kms on it, super excited to start my build
Looking good! Thanks for showing us the process!
Army green! Looking great. Next week she's on the trails. Have fun!

Bro you should really wear a mask at least, that paint shit does wonders for your lungs. Great diy paint job too!!
You would come out money ahead to just break down and buy an paint gun.
