That banana bag is made by my friend Crystalyn Kae! She make amazing vegan leather bags and recently did a line using vintage Boeing fabrics. She’s the tops!
I think the yard sale lady who was pushing the bags still had some emotional investment in those items you bought. Sounds like she was a bit worried that you won't look after them.
i think she had too many plastic bags and wanted to get rid of some; they've been taking over her undersink and she fears on uprising of shopping bags.
Hello kathleen, that Pallas Orginal knitted jacket goes for anywhere from 50 dollars to 100 dollars on various sites, such as eBay and Poshmark. The company ceased production in the late 1980's. Cheers from Mairead In Ireland.
You mentioned that the Midwest has too many cryptids per capita (in the beginning)and then questioned why people are always screaming when you’re outside and you live in the woods (at the end). 👀 Maybe that’s your answer!
Hot beverage tip: put your beverage in a thermos/to-go hot drink container with a lid. Serve portions into your gorgeous new mugs, so they're hot when you'd like a sip! Maybe worth adding a hot carafe to your thrift list ;)
Fun random fact... "Irish Pride... it's a matter of pride" is a slogan for an Irish sliced bread company 😂😂 I could just here the ad when you showed the charm. Very cute 💜
Yard sales have been good to me lately. My neighbor had one the other day and just by walking next door I got two vintage shirts, a coffee table book about Joan or Arc, and some vintage strawberry tea towels, all for $5. AND I went to a queer swap meet and got two delicate handmade necklaces from a professional jewelry maker, a pair of black Carhartt overalls, two vintage graphic tees, and some vintage butterfly wall art, all for $0.
Ugggh all the yard sales in my area sell either blatantly stolen items (like, security tags still on) or really busted stuff for way too much (like peeling faux leather purses for $10 each, like GURL)
Went with my mom to some garage sales and we found a sale that had a lot of vintage clothing that the couple had gathered from estate sales. $1 each. Didn't matter if it was a coat or pants. $1. Got a lovely haul that day!
OMG I feel the plastic bag lady is a good example of why it's hard for people to break away from plastic. Because they feel a need for things to be perfectly clean and they were taught by the world that plastic can protect and keep their items clean. Like how you don't need a plastic bag at the grocery store for your vegetables, because you're going to wash them anyway. And storing some vegetables in plastic bags can cause them to not last as long. But we think of bags as keeping our vegetables safe and clean.
Recently I've thrifted: - snakeskin print combat/ankle boots that fit me perfectly, for 2,50 euro - two (actual silk or at least convincingly silk-looking) bow ties, one black and one red, for 1 euro each - the card game Cards Against Humanity, in pristine condition in the original box, for 0,20 euro - a black denim jacket that has annoying buttons but looks great when worn open, for 2,00 euro - a black suede-feel (but it's polyester) button-up mini skirt for 0,75 euro
Keep the awesome metal mugs and just get a candle warmer. You can keep your mug on it to keep your drinks warm. I have a few of them because I always get distracted before I finish my drinks ❤️.
THAT CORNFLOWER WOOL VINTAGE BLANKET HAS ME DROOLING KATHLEEN OH MY GAWD?? THE IRELAND WOOL SWEATER?? SALIVATING!!!! ALSO!!! I would just find yourself a mug warmer for those seg c mugs so no microwave needed!
Certified Sack Lady here and I regret nothing. I went antiquing a couple months ago and my favorite score was the random bag I had to pick up in a pinch because I was too far from home. $3.80 and I just used it as my senior tiny dog’s bassinet when we took him camping last weekend. We are an iconic archetype period.
Now I am curious, because I have been assuming that those are basement doors that open straight out of Kathleen's studio. I have been wanting a house tour since the first Kathleen video I ever watched.
I'm so jealous now that it's summer nobody in Florida is having tag sales or garage sales. Even most of the farmers markets and vintage fares have closed down for the season. 😢
Last weekend I went to that thrift store in Amelia that you featured. The last five days of every month, every item is half price! Then my friend and I went to a couple estate sales in Dayton. I got something I've been wanting--up in the attic was a stack of boxes, and it looked like each one contained those electric candles that people put in their windows at Christmas. I already have plenty of those. But I had a feeling and opened EVERY box in the stack. The last box contained a bunch of those vintage foil reflectors that you put on Christmas tree lights. It was a tad pricey for me--$15, but worth it I think.
Recently at a sale I got a lil retro igloo cooler and a WORKING moving waterfall picture that lights up and makes sounds, for $5 altogether! I was so jazzed!
Omg, I Remember those moving light up pictures!!! I was a little kid, and thought they were amazing! By the time I was old enough to buy my own, everyone thought they were too corny and got rid of them- I’m so glad the ones that survived are appreciated and treasured!☺️
Bag lady in the sense if someone was looking for a trinket, you might magically pull one out...of a pocket? Your hair? Like that woman in Labyrinth! Goals!!
Goodwill score yesterday: full set 6 cups, 6 divided plates, great condition, from the Burlington Basket Company's Hawkeye line, 1960s. Happy yellow color. The whole set was $3.99. ETA: Any video that starts with Kashi on the screen instantly gets a thumbs up before the content even starts. Kashi is the real star here!
So watched Ferris Buellers Day Off for 102nd time. Yet I noticed this coat rack for the first time in the high school secretary's cubicle. I only noticed it since this video. Might have a prop piece! Or not. I'd keep it forever!
Our neighborhood had garage sales last weekend, and I decided to walk (mistake), so the only thing I ended up getting was a sweet picnic basket! Your house reminds me of an executive retreat I used to work at in college.
By weird coincidence, I went to a large community yard sale in the neighborhood I grew up in this weekend. I found books, stuff for my toddler, a cute vintage tablecloth, a small leather backpack, some vintage art, and some milk glass pieces (I can't resist it!). No luck with clothing though, which is a shame, but our vintage/thrift store nearby usually has good stuff when I go. ETA: I don't think I spent more than $20 total that day, everyone had rock-bottom prices!
Thee best time to find good/excellent sweaters & leathers is when it’s super hot outside. I’ve found amazing leather jackets & boots like new when it’s been in the 90’s/100’s.
I work weekends so I try to leave early and stop at any yard sales on my way to work, and a few weeks ago I found the most perfect indigo embroidered mini sundress for $3 that was new with tags!! I wore it to a Hozier concert a week later haha
I recently got a very pretty cabinet with doors that’s a natural wood finish that I’m going to use as a bookshelf. I also found a cute vintage looking mirror that has a flower in it that reminds me of the 60’s or 70’s but no idea if it’s actually vintage or not but it’s so cute! I also got a nice actual vintage hand mirror that is so pretty!❤ great video.
You're fun and quirky and I like it, thank you! Also... love those little canisters, not even a yellow fan but those are doing it for me. And the little steel box? I buy the green ones almost every time I see them, they're very handy
Not Bag Lady scarcity mentality, that crow Jeremy from Secret of NIMN. He was always crafting the perfect nest and loved sparkly necklaces. He's my mascot for sure, found a vintage blouse yesterday thrifting. I get daily compliments on my librarian look and it's all thanks to big crow energy because I could never afford it for real.
I enjoyed a neighborhood yard sale this past weekend. So much treasure. It was a very good day! Found folding chair earrings & necklace, a flannel, and many many flower pots😍🥰🫶
The going to the Lake video, I'm super excited for! I have a beach wedding in July in Port Austin(I live in Michigan hey, we're neighbors 😂) and I need some inspiration; that video will be the perfect thing. Can't wait!
As a slow drinking hot drinks girly myself, my mug warmer is literally the best thing to happen to my hot drink life lol. It kind of works like your ember mug, but it works for literally any mug as long as it doesn't have anything that can melt on the bottom lol (I say this bc I have a random mug with a rubber bottom). It basically works like an electric coaster that you set your mug on and it keeps your drink hot.
I love the concept of these but I don't think I've ever come across a yard/garage sale type thing where I live. I know we have car boot sales, where everyone drives up to one location with their cars loaded up with stuff to sell but I swear the stuff is never this good. The knitwear you found! The knitted vest of dreams!
Cathleen, you need a mug warmer! No need to microwave your drinks anymore. You can get one that doubles as a wax warmer. Get twice the use out of one appliance
This was nice. Im inside with a headache today.. and 31 weeks pregnant. Im basically a beached whale at this point. Im living vicariously through your yard sale haul.
I haven't been to any garage sales, but I did recently travel across one side of my state to the other in order to attend a book signing event for a children's book by my favorite human bean (Chris Colfer) AND on the way back home I visited 3 Goodwills. I got 3 really unique, sturdy baskets - one has 2 tiers. Some beautiful vintage Mikasa "field flowers" dinnerware. Five pieces of framed wall art in various sizes (one is a cat that's made from a melted penny!) And a pair of really cute cropped cargo pants.
Every. Saturday. Morning!! Each summer growing up my dad and I would be out of the house driving over to the pool where the local garage sale board was. This is where the little note pad came out and addresses were written down. Now that I have moved out my dad still sends me “hey you want this?” texts from garage sales he goes to. He got me a like new little rototiller for the garden for 60 bucks! Garage sale season is off to a great start
Those pewter mugs are so cool. You could resell them for like $20 a piece, which is an amazing deal considering, and make your money back and then some.
what amazing finds. Love the woolen tank top! and what a good adventure..in this part of the world..ie France, our car boot or brocante season has indeed started. We zoomed around 3 a week last Sunday, and one yard-sale (vide maison) that we passed by pure chance, it was a farm selling all manner of things. Bought a red linen maxi dress but it was selling all types of costumes, lots of sheer and sequins and I couldn't understand why they were selling them in this huge farm shed on the edge of a tiny village. Later, online I found out that not only were there a cluster of vide maison that we'd missed (in a rush to get back to brocante no1) but there was nearby *Circus School* near to the farm and hence the fancy costumes. In a place called La Chappelle Montmartin in Eure et Loire if anyone ever wants to go there!🤡💖. How amazing...
Another full-circle moment is seeing the palm you rescued from an estate sale in one of your older videos, which is looking much happier! 😊🪴 Btw, the front of our house (also in Ohio) has three doors: one to the garage, one to the kitchen, and one to our entryway. People get so confused even though the entryway door has our doorbell. 😅🤷🏻♀️
Neighborhood yard sales in Columbus are the best. Through out the summer, there are always neighborhood yard sales so you can hit 20 sales in a small area.
First, Ohio born and bred here and 100% agree, also garage sailing is like a staple Ohio summer past time that should not be dissed! Second I hit subscribe cuz I want to see your house! It looks amazing ❤
❤your dress today the colours and pattern suits you.❤wool blanket the best only vintage though as the sheeps aren’t eating best quality grasses these days 😵💫🐨❤️🦘
Love your videos and magical artsy vibe ✨. I have a lot of mugs I can’t microwave either so I keep a large glass micro safe measuring pour cup nearby and use that to micro drink and it’s easy to pour in mug I like.
Get a usb mug warmer so you can keep those vintage mugs warm! Also, your style is rad as hell. I collect vintage cookbooks (norm 40's to 70's) so much of those styles blend together into my style, with a hot dallop of witchy! I would pay for gas to garage sale with you! Come hit up lower Michigan with me!
I love your love of chonky knitted items. I also love seeing how you make them work, because I just can't seem too. Love these videos, huzzah yard sale season!!!
door reveal when u hit 100k ??? omg i JUST realized you arent already there what the heck your content is so good and well made!!! i never looked at the sub count i just assumed you were in the millions already lol. i truly believe youll get there in no time!! such wonderful wholesome content always my first choice when you pop up in my subscriptions
OMG! Cannot wait for the home tour! The little glimpses of your home have been so tantalizing. It's so unique! And I love the cool items I see in the rooms. I hope you will show all the rooms and give an idea of the layout.
...and another thought on "the season." How many of us are trying to replace childhood nostalgia. This weekend I scored a set dragons from "How to Train Your Dragon" and a full set of hardcover Harry Potter books. Boy, those are gonna be a bit spendy when the kids grow up and realize what mom sold while they were sleeping
Kashi: good boy 😇 or bad boy 😎 ????
Goodest boi
The bestest boy. A perfect angel 😊
Very very very good boy
Such a good boi 🧡🧡🧡
😇 of course
That banana bag is made by my friend Crystalyn Kae! She make amazing vegan leather bags and recently did a line using vintage Boeing fabrics. She’s the tops!
Oh you’re kidding me!!! That’s so cool. It’s SO well made
That's so cool, love a backstory to found treasure!
Bagstory
"too many cryptids per capita" is a feature, not a bug. except for the cryptids that ARE bugs...
double the bug double the fun! 😈
#truestory
I think the yard sale lady who was pushing the bags still had some emotional investment in those items you bought. Sounds like she was a bit worried that you won't look after them.
Could also be a ‘compartmentalization’ issue. If it’s in a bag it’s been paid for and she doesn’t have to continue to keep visual track of it.
i think she had too many plastic bags and wanted to get rid of some; they've been taking over her undersink and she fears on uprising of shopping bags.
Your Dad repping your channel to your old neighbours is so bloody wholesome
So guilty of being stuck between “don’t want to low ball” but also wanting everything for super cheap/free lol.
Hello kathleen, that Pallas Orginal knitted jacket goes for anywhere from 50 dollars to 100 dollars on various sites, such as eBay and Poshmark. The company ceased production in the late 1980's. Cheers from Mairead In Ireland.
I love how haggling with Karen had you shaking in your boots only to tell the next neighbor lady to add a couple of zeroes to her offer 🤣💲😂
lol! The duality 💃🏻💃🏻
You mentioned that the Midwest has too many cryptids per capita (in the beginning)and then questioned why people are always screaming when you’re outside and you live in the woods (at the end). 👀 Maybe that’s your answer!
lol you know what… you make a great point
I love these videos feels like my long distance friend sharing facts and hauls on facetime
that’s exactly the vibe!! 🥹
Hot beverage tip: put your beverage in a thermos/to-go hot drink container with a lid. Serve portions into your gorgeous new mugs, so they're hot when you'd like a sip! Maybe worth adding a hot carafe to your thrift list ;)
I'm envious of that star pendant, wear it well. Also I love the idea that your dad just shows everyone he meets your RUclips channel. Very sweet.
I will! & it was pretty cute of him I’ll admit it 😎💕
House tour, house tour, house tour!!! 100k here we come 🎉
Bag lady energy forever.
My aesthetic is dustbowl bum so I feel that one.
I want to gracefully age into pigeon-lady-from-home-alone-lost-in-New-York aesthetic
It's Pride Month! You can be an ally with your "It's a Matter of Pride" charm.
boom 🌈 ✨
Fun random fact... "Irish Pride... it's a matter of pride" is a slogan for an Irish sliced bread company 😂😂
I could just here the ad when you showed the charm. Very cute 💜
1: the excitement for vintage home goods is so real. 2: that DRESS!!! with the FANS!!!
Yard sales have been good to me lately. My neighbor had one the other day and just by walking next door I got two vintage shirts, a coffee table book about Joan or Arc, and some vintage strawberry tea towels, all for $5. $1 each. Didn't matter if it was a coat or pants. $1.
Got a lovely haul that day!

That box of mugs would be good for gifting!
OMG I feel the plastic bag lady is a good example of why it's hard for people to break away from plastic.

People look at me like I grew a second head when I refuse single use plastics 😂
Local stinky here--would be DELIGHTED to peruse a kathleenillustrated yard sale!
absolutely WOULD be driving 8+ hours to come if you host a garage sale someday
I’m so glad I kept scrolling the comments and found this sweetness!! Hope Kathleen sees it!☺️✨
Recently I've thrifted:
- snakeskin print combat/ankle boots that fit me perfectly, for 2,50 euro
- two (actual silk or at least convincingly silk-looking) bow ties, one black and one red, for 1 euro each
- the card game Cards Against Humanity, in pristine condition in the original box, for 0,20 euro
- a black denim jacket that has annoying buttons but looks great when worn open, for 2,00 euro
- a black suede-feel (but it's polyester) button-up mini skirt for 0,75 euro
hey kathleen speaking of ripping your dress, could you do a mend with me video? I'd love to see your take on visible mending!
Keep the awesome metal mugs and just get a candle warmer. You can keep your mug on it to keep your drinks warm. I have a few of them because I always get distracted before I finish my drinks ❤️.

I'm 3 minutes into this video and already convinced that Kathleen went to a garage sale of the real life version of the aunts from Practical Magic.
Certified Sack Lady here and I regret nothing. A throne fit for a king 🥹👑
I went to a garage sale yesterday and found two Dolly Parton records for THREE DOLLARS each! I'm proud of that find
She’s the best! One of life’s great humans.
Your two mirrored front doors leading to exactly the same location that you stand between makes me laugh and a little envious every time.
Now I am curious, because I have been assuming that those are basement doors that open straight out of Kathleen's studio. I have been wanting a house tour since the first Kathleen video I ever watched.
Her house gives strong M. C. Escher vibes.
I'm so jealous now that it's summer nobody in Florida is having tag sales or garage sales. Even most of the farmers markets and vintage fares have closed down for the season. 😢

Oh my gosh your efforts were honored!! That’s so cool 🕯️😵
(& I didn’t know about that sale! That’s craaaaazy)
Went to a yard sale last week and got my duaghter a wooden play kitchen for 10$! Such a score!
That’s amazing!! Good play kitchens are hard to find!
@@lisa_wistfulone7957 they're so cool!! I wish they still made them, there's a lot of people who like quirky decorations like those! 😊
Bag lady in the sense if someone was looking for a trinket, you might magically pull one out...of a pocket? Your hair? Like that woman in Labyrinth! Goals!!

I also knew that it was going to be good bc Kakashi was starting the video!! He only heralds in good vibes!
Great finds. I love to yard sale with a friend. Bundling is the way to go.
So watched Ferris Buellers Day Off for 102nd time. Yet I noticed this coat rack for the first time in the high school secretary's cubicle. I only noticed it since this video. Might have a prop piece! Or not. I'd keep it forever!
Cool detail! It’s always fun to spot a familiar object as a movie/show prop!
Our neighborhood had garage sales last weekend, and I decided to walk (mistake), so the only thing I ended up getting was a sweet picnic basket! Your house reminds me of an executive retreat I used to work at in college.
"It smells like maple syrup." I need this to be a fabric softener scent! 😍😍😍
You can drink cold drinks out of those mugs, as a potential solution to that no-microwave problem. Fun finds!
Thee best time to find good/excellent sweaters & leathers is when it’s super hot outside. I’ve found amazing leather jackets & boots like new when it’s been in the 90’s/100’s.
Great finds! LOVE the Jane Fonda top, that's amazing! Can't wait for the house tour! 100K is right around the corner!
I work weekends so I try to leave early and stop at any yard sales on my way to work, and a few weeks ago I found the most perfect indigo embroidered mini sundress for $3 that was new with tags!! I wore it to a Hozier concert a week later haha
The small metal storage container is a recipe box. It's sized for the index cards people used to to put recipes on.
I inherited a few as recipe boxes. I’m curious what else you might use them for. I’d like to get better use out of mine.
I use mine to hold photographs and washing tapes right now
Not Bag Lady scarcity mentality, that crow Jeremy from Secret of NIMN. He was always crafting the perfect nest and loved sparkly necklaces. He's my mascot for sure, found a vintage blouse yesterday thrifting. I get daily compliments on my librarian look and it's all thanks to big crow energy because I could never afford it for real.
For the mugs that can't go in the microwave, may I suggest: a tabletop candle warmer / mug warmer!
Try some hair conditioner in the rinse of your fuzzy vest. And use your metal base mugs for cold drinks!
You may have just saved a slightly scritchy sweater I love but can’t quite wear comfortably. I’ve been stalling on donating it for months!😅
The dress you're wearing is so pretty!
I enjoyed a neighborhood yard sale this past weekend. So much treasure. It was a very good day! Found folding chair earrings & necklace, a flannel, and many many flower pots😍🥰🫶
I've done 5 hour Saturday mornings the past two weeks! I've gotten so many useful, awesome things! I'm up in the Akron area. 😀
The going to the Lake video, I'm super excited for! I have a beach wedding in July in Port Austin(I live in Michigan hey, we're neighbors 😂) and I need some inspiration; that video will be the perfect thing. Can't wait!

Yes!! Mug warmers were popular in the era of mugs with metallic paint on them!

This was nice. Im inside with a headache today.. and 31 weeks pregnant. Im basically a beached whale at this point.
Im living vicariously through your yard sale haul.
Goodness mama!! I hope you feel better soon 💕🥲
Kathleen,
That black cardigan is gorgeous! Pallas is a really high quality vintage Irish knitwear brand . So fun to see the tag. Hi from Dublin 👋 🇮🇪
I got a painting in my local buy nothing Junk in the Trunk meeting. It goes perfectly in the gallery wall I just set up with other paitings. ❤

my neighbors across the street had a yard sale and we could see their giant spiderman plush from across the street

OMG! Cannot wait for the home tour! The little glimpses of your home have been so tantalizing. It's so unique! And I love the cool items I see in the rooms. I hope you will show all the rooms and give an idea of the layout.
I’m from Arkansas but live in Scotland now and mannnn i miss the garage/yard/estate sales !!!!! Incredible finds!
Ohio Byway sales are this weekend. It spans more than our state. Figured I'd remind you 😅
Baglady is actually a type of clown! There are many different types of clown archetypes.
Right now, I'm just thrifting vicariously through you.
...and another thought on "the season." How many of us are trying to replace childhood nostalgia. This weekend I scored a set dragons from "How to Train Your Dragon" and a full set of hardcover Harry Potter books. Boy, those are gonna be a bit spendy when the kids grow up and realize what mom sold while they were sleeping
Thrifting childhood/teen nostalgia is REAL…!🥹
Yard sales are amazing 😻 We always go to the 127 sale, the world's longest yard sale
