- Here we have Lesson 6. This one focuses on coordination between your feet and hands. You can also see how Bonham played "Poor Tom" that he recorded with Led Zeppelin. It's a simple yet effective groove. Enjoy.

Awesome!...This is one of the most difficult drum riffs ever created by Bonham.
Awesome drumming your up there with Bonzo, Buddy and all the greats !!!
I am flattered to hear your opinion!! THANKS!
Through the years of this video I still learn a lot from you, I believe you are one of my top reference in drummers. Die hard fan of yours!
You're such a gifted player Dan! Excellent tutorial.. as ever
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely chilling bro......if anyone could sit in Bonhams chair, YOU are the closest thing I've seen to doing it.
We just need the other "3" ?????
Great teaching breakdown, and great playing. Great time, feel, and control. Bonzo touched so many of us, and helped drive our inspiration.
I love this channel so much. It’s intelligent, and cognitive as much as it is musical teaching, it’s multi dimensional, and this particular video I actually watch now with my morning coffee, as it sinks in so easily and well, and then when my coffee is done, I can sit on the kit and begin my drum practice, and now, or for the coming weeks at least using this lesson as the groove and technical work out all in one. It’s a really good lesson.
Right on, I am very happy to hear you got the intention of this lesson. Cool!
Yes! Glad to see you posting DZ!
Nice to see your back at it! Love these vids.

Thanks for watching!
Well done. Great exercise. This is how RUclips should be. TY
I'm not a drummer, but I have obsessed over Bonham's drumming for many years (I'm 58). Anyway, out of all the Bonham "explainers" on YT, you've got the best groove and feel, IMHO. Plus, you keep the chatter to a minimum-- a definite plus! I'd love to hear your take on Bonham's Moby Dick, circa 1970, Royal Albert Hall. So many great things here, but starting at 3:10 thru 4:10, excellent example of slowing it down, right hand keeping time with the left hand and bass ripping triplets. Seems like a study in ultimate coordination and separation of his right hand and foot??
I appreciate the comments! I do like to make it more visual than vocal. Thank you!
Yay he's back!
You're Back!
Completely cool. Not only do you have great technique, but you recording is spot on. Perfect sounding kit.
thx
Awesome playing.

That bass drum pattern is very similar to the cowbell pattern in "Good times bad times" isn't it?

I have been watching your videos online for years Dan. You are by far my favorite and one of the most memorable drummers I’ve ever seen. Fucking phenomenal dude. Thanks for the lesson.

GrooveDrummin you are welcome sir. Keep it up!!!
solid 👊🏼
Please make videos regularly again!
great vid! love your playing! can you do a side view of your foot to see the technique?
Good !
great
10 !!!!
Thanks much.. Always good to see your stuff.. Any good lessons for "Triplets" with left hand lead..? I have such a hard time with that.. Another track that is fun to do similar snare thing is "Fast Train To Georgia" By Billy Jo Shaver... It may seem simple but easy to speed up and lose feel if you are not careful.. Thanks again Dan! Love your kit man!
oh yea, day made
That bass is quite monstery.
Fantastic stuff, your kit sounds amazing and in my mind this is proper drumming, not a fan off all the speed merchants who play fills on fills, this makes me wanna play and move my body !! brilliant !
gee, thanks a lot my man!
I've been working on this beat for MONTHS xD
🔥🔥👍👍🔥🔥
3:53 hidden extra for our entertainment pleasure = pure gold 🎶🤘🎶
lol, thought you'd like that!!
TY
Awesome work man. Any videos on the technique you're doing at 3:58? Where you keep the snare going along with the toms?
What I do after I get the bass drum down is give more of a freight train rolling feel with the snare drum to make it more fluid
Enjoy your video's, thanks! Quick question. I have been playing Remo clear cs black dots forever. Played Superkick I's for awhile. Switched to Powerstroke 3's clear with black dot. I have two Yamaha 15x24's birch. So here's my question: In your opinion, what is the difference between emperor coated and emperor clear as a batter head with felt strips? I understand that the coated head is much warmer. I am looking for a big warm Bonham bass drum sound and conventional JB tuning. I have decided that the Powerstroke 3 clear with black dot and felt strip is too much muffling (it would sound great mic'd though). Any thoughts on the coated vs clear comparison? Thanks Jim in Atlanta!
The coated have a far greater high end attack when recorded while the clear are somewhat "softer" and less snap. The best combo for the bass drum I found to this day "for that Bonham sound" is coated PS4 with a falam patch and smooth white PS3...no felts needed.
Thanks for your reply and help!
what kind of micros do you use for the Bass-Drum. The sound is fantastic....
Rode NT1A and Yamaha MZ105be
GrooveDrummin Thank u very much 👍🏻
Hello, great sounding kit! Is that a supralite? It seems it's very tight, both ends!
LM402
& it's not how hard or easy & not just learning it but "feeling it " There's a total groove to it.Without a nice open sound it's hard to get to that groove feel & to sound right.
you are sooo correct!
The word I'm looking for is "BADASS".
Hey Dan just curious, have you ever played in a Zepp tribute band? Saw Zoso several times and seems like you would be a good fit. Been following you for several years now, thanks for your tips. John
Not a Zep tribute band...did a Sabbath tribute once.
Hey GroveDrummin'! Which are the best drumsticks for Rock? Greetings!
no real best...i like pro mark 5AX sometime the 5B when I feel like getting louder...
😎✌️🥁
like the "champagne pink" ludwigs
What's that snare? Sounds GREAT !
