Philip Catherine... so amazingly under acknowledged as a master contributor to the jazz guitar vocabulary. A fan for 40 years, he still always surprises & inspires. Neils... well, he's just a blessing to art & music.
Philip Cathrine, half British, half Belgium.Niels Henning Pedersen.Denmark.Although Niels is in heaven this music remains in our heart. we love you both.please keep playing.
Beautiful music and great sound from the ES 175. love how tasteful they play together. P.C. Is really underrated. What a wonderful player. And Henning is legend
Oh my. I know this comment is 3 years old, and I don't want to embarrass you. But the way you misspelled "heart" gives your comment a very different meaning. He is amazing though.. I just discovered him through Rick Beato, and I'm blown away.
Catherine has a unique guitar sound that combined with a great technique makes his recordings a vice to which I've grown addicted. Like Doug Raney too, but find Catherine's sound something soothing and special. His playing with the legend Henning is, gave us some wonderful cds, included those with Chet Baker. Although my prefered double bass is Dave Holland, (because I find he has the darker kind of sound a double bass can produce), am also a Henning fan. For, of course, we don't find usually a bassist of such a musical level and resounding power. As a bassist Henning is a proess. The result of joining musicians of this size is a dream of music. One we cannot miss if we love jazz. 🤗🎶👍💖🙏
That’s my favorite Jazz box guitar of all time. I’ve never wanted to play someone else’s guitar more than after watching Philip play that Gibson. I wonder why he doesn’t use it as much anymore. I know he play those Goden’s a lot now. He’s so amazing.
Hi Dan - Philip has owned that ES175 since he was a youngster. He put it in my hands and let me play it in Norway circa 1983. An unforgettable memory. I hope you get to meet him and play that guitar someday !
Good news !! : Warner Music France just released on 24 Nov 2017 a 5 CD-Box ‘Selected Works 1974-1982’, It includes Philip's 4 classic albums 'September Man’ (1974), ‘Guitars’ (1975), ‘Babel’ (1980), ‘End of August’ (1982) and a previously unreleased recording 'Solo Bremen 1979 & 1982’ album. A complete booklet with notes by some great musicians and the original vinyl artwork faithfully reproduced, except ‘Solo Bremen’ which will be illustrated by a painting by artist Gilles Fiszman.
Excellent guitariste, le meilleur depuis Stephan Grappelli !! Je le connais depuis 50 ans.En France on en parle jamais.. Je suis hyper fan !! Mais 2020
Wasn’t that simply awesome,such feeling,technique,and all the rest,just astounding,musicality,beyond reproach,thankfully I’m still around to appreciate.Ian Morrison aged 81.

NHOP is a beast! Very few can play a solo like he does on a double bass! His fluency makes it look easy.
This music is exceptional. Philip Catherine is a pride in Belgium, and rightly so. And NHOP was out this world.

These men are musicians without any doubt. Sensibility, creativity, ears, interplay and so on....

Yes good to see him doing well we had wine together at the Grand place in Brussels 1973
Que maravilha de música. Sofisticação e musicalidade. Sou fã do Niels
Air Power / Dancing Girls- OMG NHOP was a beast!
I have that same ES (1962 vintage). It is really cool to him use the middle setting (i.e., both pickups) 'cause it brings out the ES sound so cleanly.
2 of the greatest

Hello Jacobien - Please give Philip my warm regards and let him know I have this guitar new channel on RUclips please ! - Sincerely - John McCain

Obrigada
Yes thank you for posting

Larry Coryell - One Of The GREAT Guitarists Of Our Time !!! Great Band Here Too !!!
what has L Coryell to do here ???!!
@@hclebroz I agree......!!!
You still need a drummer....a piano player....or chet baker.
After Ray Brown ~ Pederson's technically brilliant waffle ~ for me managed to stop Peterson from swinging ! What a shame ~~ lifetime Oscar fan.
Oscar is at the top of my list, Ray also, but I think NHOP fit perfectly with Peterson.
