Don't know if this solution would work for everyone but there is a tape like covering on the battery terminals probably to prevent discharge, removed it and the battery is working now. Hope this helps.

Just solder the battery directly. That’s why the terminals are there.

You mean no need to buy extra type c or micro USB charging?

It is much easier to put in rechargeable AAA batteries, and then replace them with charged batteries when empty !
Have a great day, and stay safe !

They die super fast, and it got really annoying to keep buying new ones every 3 to 4 days of use. Thats why

@@ABYTAR Something wrong with your keyboard, i can use mine for about 3 months, 4 or 5 days a week for 2-3 hours, and then I have to recharge the batteries !

That means you need an additional device and spare batteries so that's not a solution.
Imagine the inconvenience of having to independently charge your mobile phone batteries via a separate charger and needing to carry spare batteries.

I already have a usb socket in the top and see two terminal solder points up on the circuit behind the AAA batteries. I would assumed I could just put a battery to that rather than a hack job?

Why? is much easier with AAA batterys rechargeables!!! and much better.
