I thought I had the real one. I only paid $8 for one and $10 for another a few years later. One has a recharge battery and the other takes AAA batteries. Both work great. I don't use the recharge one much it gets low longer than the battery one.

the issue i had with the cheap ones, i bought 2 and they both failed before they even ran the battery flat from their first charge. they suffered the blue and orange alternating light error. searched for ages and noone had a fix for it.
have now got the real version and straight away it feels much nicer to use. it also came with the micro usb charger as opposed to the mini usb.
not worried about charging it once a week, i have a power point right next to the recliner so no sweat.
im using it on a win10 pc so keybinds all work fine and as expected.
I have the clone and it doesn't remember the last led state. When I close and open it, it always starts with the LED off. Is there any way to fix that?
The current upgraded rii i8+ with orange fn buttons instead of blue finally has usb-c charging :D. Just got mine today
if it is dark do you want to be searching for a button to turn on the key board light. no that is why it automatically turns on

Good review. Now i have a question. I have 2 android tv one in each tv rooms. Same android tv model and 2 same mini keyboard as yours. Now.. Can i use the very same 1 keyboard for both tv boxes ? So i go downstairs of my house and continue to use the same keyboard im holding previewly to the upstairs tv ? Or does the keyboard will only work only on the first android tv box i was using in the first place ?
I think if you put the usb connector in which ever TV you are using, it should work. Or you can get two sets, one for each. They are the least expensive on ebay.

Each keyboard is RF, it uses some proprietary 2.4 GHz protocol if I am correct. Its not like the Logitech unifying receiver, each keyboard has the 2.4 GHz slightly tweaked for it. So each KB is paired with its receiver.
I don't have two of those so I can't be certain, but I intend to buy another one and test.

Doesn’t work for my lg 3d tv 😢 only the volume and the mouse works other than that it’s just a paper weight that lights up.
ive had both of these keyboards and neither lasted very long, some of the keys on the Rii i8 stopped working every now and again after about 2 months and the keys on the clone version are way to sensitive, for example every time i typed the letter "e" i would end up with eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, the space bar was worse, if i dont press it hard enough nothing would happen but if i press it ever so slightly harder it would do about 6 spaces, i had to press somewhere in between that somehow.

I doubt about your comparison. We all know key quality is important (you type once and you get twice the character) and in particular battery quality is one of the most expensive features. After a year of use how is it for each of them?.The light in the clone is awful, can you see well? In your video I clearly see Rii's keys but not the clone's. Besides, key assignation is a degree of freedom for the user, isn't it?
Only on Android TV or can I use this on Android tablets?
Hell, the shipping time on this keyboard isn't even worth it. Being able to get the RII on amazon and just dealing with the keys not being correctly mapped seems to be the fart more convenient option regardless.

My case got damaged. Screws popped out, and the on/off button broke off. Still works okay though, the electronics is alright.

I switch the lights on by pressing the F2 and FN. It will turn and different colour. But then when i switch the keyboard off and switch the keyboard back on... the whole keyboard will not light up. And the only way to keep turning this on is by pressing F2 and FN same time. And light goes off in 5 seconds. Yours took longer ? Anyhow they interesting tiny keyboards almost like a toy. But works perfectly.
HBO 1 agreed... wish keyboard light would stay on until I turn it off. Any tricks to make that happen?
not sure.. but if done like i said and the keyboard is not been used after and then suddently press buttons it will turn the lights on. I reckon a large tablet remote control would be fun and interesting.. Rather then tiny keyboard remote controls everywhere.. How about a tablet sizes remote control to press buttons on screen for the while entertainment tv.

I've got at first two of that Chinese clones but so far didn't manage to make any of them work.
Well, almost. Only one did show some "ability" to move the cursor, but only when connected to my Android phone.
No matter which one I connected to Windows it brought up the following : unknown or not working properly device.
Linux from other hand was gracefully silent, not "saying" a word or wave error message. But same overall end - no action or activity.
So, was it yours working on any OS , just some, or only Android...?

I'm not exaggerating when I say you'll drive yourself nuts using a knock-off or anything else.

No need for drivers, it is standard USB, try different USB slot (you used the adapter I assume) or install linux. ;)

one problem whit the 10$ one is its too bright and green and blue backlight can be used a flash light and the connection LEDs under the media contros are night lights by them self i had to put peaces of electrical tape over them just to not bother me at night

There is not a model number. There are several re-branded remotes on amazon. You can pretty much get them from anywhere. Just look for the remotes that have red, blue and green leds.

i got one with a bit better design, but almost the same thing, rii mini i28, it made me a couch potato :P i got used to it so much, if it had 2 analog sticks and 2 triggers i'd prolly stop using all my expensive shit cause this is so much more convenient most of the time
