Glad the sow is doing better. Maybe some pumpkin seeds and food grade diatomaceous earth to help with any possible parasites for all of your critters. DE also helps with chickens in their dirt bathing. Dinner looked awesome.
Raw pumpkins cut up with the seeds and all might help her out a lot, I give it to all of my animals when they don't feel good in the wintertime! I harvested over 100 Cherokee tan pumpkins to have for me and the animals! Not only is it a natural de-wormer, but they are packed with so many dense nutrients!
It's so obvious how much you all care about your animals!💝🐖🐖🐖 I've heard that dehydration can cause a pig not to eat. Maybe, since this one 🐖 is smaller than the other two, they're not letting her get her share 🤔 Maybe you could feed and water 💦 her separately until she catches up 🤷🏻♀️ P.S. Almost at 200K subscribers!!!🎉🎊🎉🏅 Let's get them there, so Like,. Subscribe, and SHARE everyone!!!👍🤓🙋👩🏼🌾We all know they're the BEST homesteaders on RUclips!!
Always have a vets number. You never know when an emergency will happen. Unless there isn't one in your area. We have an on call vet that only ads $25 to the charge. Has saved many animals for us.
Loraine my mom used to make what she called refrigerator stew. She'd take the leftovers when they got to be too abundant and she'd dump it all into one pot, season it up and that was dinner. It was always good always plenty. My mom and dad were raised during the Great Depression and our family of 8, 6 kids, never wasted anything and thank God we never went hungry!
I am so impressed with you guys. Especially since you own a Harvest Right Freeze drier before you ever bought a tractor!!! That is super smart. So glad to see your girly pig is feeling better.
Yes, establish a relationship with a few local large animal vets in advance. It's important to get to know them and them to know your animals before you have an emergency. This will make working with them to treat your animals much easier in emergency situations.
My pig Petunia became sick this fall. Lethargic, no appetite, wouldn't come out of her pig palace. I purchased a rectal thermometer and discovered she was running a fairly strong fever. Got a shot of antibiotic from my vet. Within 12 hours Petunia was back.
They say animals intuitively know what they need when it comes to their minerals , especially when they don't feel good. That was a great call on the activated charcoal....just like the hospitals use when they want to neutralize some thing in your stomach that shouldn't be there. Glad she recovered so quickly, Y'all have a Blessed day.
We’ve also had an issue or two with our pigs in the past…talk about a sigh of relief when they start feeling better. Almost turns you into a novice veterinarian. We love your channel, man…good stuff!
I'm glad she's okay. She looked like it hurt to move her back end. I dunno. I know nothing about raising pigs. Hope it's all in the past now. It's so good to see how well you take care of your animals.
It was so nice to see your Genuine Love and concern for Miss Piggy 🐷. Your a Good Man Jason. God Bless 🙌🏼 Peace Be. We Love You and Your Family's Channel.😊 I even got worried at first.

It sure looks like you did all the right things for your sick pig. It's good you picked up on her not acting normal so quickly. She wasn't coughing or having a runny nose so it was probably a stomach thing. That was fascinating watching them eat that burnt wood!
I love how your family is building your homestead together as a team. Your daughter is going to be a tuff girl who will depend on her parents judgement on boy's. It's going to be like my dad he better know how to use a shovel and get my work done before he takes you out. Dad ment to say his work why dad has coffee. Yep that's a great dad .
Hi Jason! So good that your pig is doing better. You are becoming very wise with how to take care of your animals. I am so sad to hear about Fuzzy Muggins! I have to say that I did enjoy watching Lorraine give her a hair cut! As I watch your videos I feel great joy for you and Lorraine and Penelope. Your property is beautiful! Do you have hills to go sledding like you did at your previous property? I can only imagine what it will be like five years from now. Have a wonderful evening!
Mom would always throw leftovers together and call it throw together. To this day it would become a meal that we didn't have a whole bunch of one item. Today was my kale that was wilting, last 4 carrots and the last strips of bacon. Stir fry in a stir of butter. Garlic powder. It keeps your cost down at the grocery store and no waste. Do waste food with cost now. Chilli and cornbread looked good. Glad the three stooges are doing better. I still think of them that way when you first wanted a name list. Take care and blessing
Jason, you are the ONLY person on RUclips I've heard say the word spigot correctly!! I know it's goofy to be weird about a word, but thank you for saying this the right way!! 😄
Man that pig worried me too. I'm glad you figured out what to give her. Quick thinking on your part & persistent's in pushing her to eat/drink what you had for her. Great job~ 👍🤗❤
thanks for showing the reality of live-stock, when they have problems. Glad the pig began to act like a pig, and was better. sorry about fuzzy-wazzy. the stew really looked delicious, and the freeze dryer is great for saving harvests. have a great week.
Great work Jason! My grandpa used to give his pigs activated charcoal (which is burned hardwood). Always 21 days before breeding and when any one of the pigs felt sick or sluggish. Watch for her to evacuate. 💩🐖💦
Activated charcoal isn’t just burned hardwood. It’s made in a special process that introduces extra air bubbles in the charcoal to increase the surface area. Burned hardwood charcoal will do the same job you just need 2 or 3x the amount to be equivalent
I’m curious are y’all gonna get the cow a buddy.? He’s so lonely. I’m so glad piggie is ok I’ve been around pigs my whole life some pigs are touchy that stew looked delicious love your videos
Awww man you missed it, a great dad joke opportunity. When Lorraine said the jalapeños might take a little time to reconstitute you could've asked where the thyme was or said something like, "Just thyme, no rosemary?" Next time, you got this! Loved the hog joke.
Thrive Life has great Freeze Dried food and you are on the right track being able to freeze dry food for long term storage. Glad to see your pigs are acting like pigs again. Experience there is nothing like it as we live and learn.
You should mix your dry food with water and apple cider vinegar, it makes a slop. By the way put a garden hose on the tank and that way you can water your animals and garden.do get more totes. Be careful they don't have had chemicals in them.
I found your chanell 3 days ago and have binge Watched a year and a half of videos up to date! I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your family and farm. The transformation to your land is epic, all your effort payed off.

We raised our first pigs this last year and one of them just stopped eating, wouldn’t get up, only drank water and just super lethargic and felt like she had a fever. I got a syringe with a drench tip, and gave her activated charcoal, and then apple cider vinegar with salt. And supplements we gave them in their feed daily was apple cider vinegar, diatomaceous earth, and kelp. This next round of pigs I’m planning on giving them free choice charcoal throughout raising them. My pig guy says that most likely what happened was the pig ate something on pasture that didn’t sit well with them. Having that drench tip is a must have! You guys did everything right, and having that drench tip will up your treatment game, and is not that expensive! 😉
We had a sick one a few weeks ago, scared me, learned of LA 300, couple shots later she was fine. I think a new law started on the first that requires you to go through a vet to get it. Glad yours is good.
So sad about fuzzy muggins I loved that chicken but Im gonna have to get me a fridge magnet a Bernice magnet would be good too guys...RIP Fuzzy Muggins...❤
Anyone that has farm animals should have a connection with the local Vet. Even if all you do is introduce yourself to the office. Point is that you can gather FRESH fecal and run it to the Vet to have it examined for parasites, protozoa, etc... It can save an animals life to get a fecal exam if needed and it can be dropped off.
So glad the pig is feeling better! I've been wanting a freeze dryer for years..I'm hoping this is the year. It's just my husband and I now..but still want one.

I think that means minerals are important for the animals to have in those covered areas. Their bodies know what is missing just like the charcoal.

you don't need a whole building up on the hill, you just need a roof to collect the rainwater, and it only needs to be just taller than the totes.
