When I was first learning chinese I remember some of the sounds sounded so similar and I had a hard time telling them apart, but now after 2 and a half years, it’s so easy to tell them apart. So if you’re just learning know that it gets easier.

Oh yea. I would NOT be able to learn this without the support of my Japanese language learning. I use songs, books, language learning apps, writing constantly, and have language partners to help me understand it easier. I'm just glad I didn't choose to learn Chinese first. Because this is very intimidating for a beginner to learn as their first none native language.

@@SoulOctavius Hii, I'm actually interested to know which one u learnt first? I'm thinking of studying Chinese/Mandarin but I actually got scared seeing so many letters and so many are similar too. I tried with Korean, still WIP but I really wanted to learn mandarin and Japanese. I decided to go with Mandarin first then Japan's. Mostly cuz its widely spoken so the opportunity of working is good. But yet again, I'm solely doing this just for the fun of it. Cuz I love learning and understanding cultures more..
Sorry for the long rant just wanted to clarify

They are pronounced almost exactly as Polish "dż", "cz", "sz" and "rz". I was surprised how easy this pronunciation is for me. The most difficult part is of course the tone system.
And the "j", "q", "x" sound very similar to Polish "dzi", "ci" and "si".

Excellent videos. It's a cultural eye-opener too. As a native American born and raised who's learning Chinese, you gain an understanding of some culturally-based language differences. And we've all seen that made fun of in movies, where Chinese people say, "You give me five book yesterday. I give you ten dollar now." Why is this strange? It isn't if you understand the simplicity and logic of the Chinese language. There is no need to memorize the many conjugation of verbs and use the plurals of words. The terms "yesterday" and "today" indicate time. The number "five" and "ten" indicate more than one. So there is no need for all that extra work and memorization! --- So, when native (and older) Chinese learn English, they seldom go through the unnecessary effort of learning the miriad of verb tenses and plurals. --- And remember, some may make fun of this but the reality is, those folks know TWO languages, (and most likely three, since there's the formal Mandarin and then the Dialect in China too). So respect. A lot of respect for folks who have learned two, or more languages!

Chinese is an antique, and difficult language, however, Chinese people never give up using it, imagine if they did, and adapt English instead, then the Chinese would already be forgotten. But look at the recent Chinese, they use pinyin (Wide system) to bridging with English and become dual languages proficiency. It's also true for overseas Chinese like myself, who still speak my own dialect and try my best to improve my Mandarin. Grateful to find this channel. 感谢.
