I believe when they do oil changes in dealerships they never change oil filters if it’s not passed 10k. Manufacturers built it for the easy purpose of draining oil only after 5k without filter
Thank you so much for helpful tips I have 1 more free dealer oil change then have start paying lol I rather do it myself I know it’s done correctly and it’s actually being done
Should start the engine and look under to be sure there are no oil leaks before putting the cover back on. Hopefully you had the jack stands correctly placed.
@@lighton-ix8pf It’s probably better to change after every drive, but that doesn’t make financial sense. I have had oil tested that showed it was still good at 28k miles. With today’s synthetic oils, you’re wasting money changing at 5k
If that's true you're an idiot. You get all kinds of sludge buildup going that long between oil changes. Oil changes are cheap. Engines are expensive@@co1003
So you mentioned it's possible to use oil filter from older camry pre 2008, I have a filters for a 2006 scion tc, I seen that it's a possibility to use that same filter, because the scion tc had the same engine as those camrys. I was wonder if you knew.
Go to car nut guru on RUclips, he is a certified toyota mechanic and says like toyota 0-20 can be used, but only for short term. 0-16 is what should go in if you have it available, if not order it.
This Old Man thanks you. Very well done video!
Thanks for the helpful video. I just purchased a 2020 Xle.
The torque for the oil drain plug is 30 ft/ lb and the torque for the oil filter is 18 ft/lb
You should replace the crush washer. Use a plastic tool to scrape it off. Good video though!

chill video. can you please share the size of your oil filter socket-type removal tool?
Nice video
You want to go with manufacturer specs, but tell everyone to change oil at 5k?
It's better to do it more often on newer cars.

That oil looks like freakin water with how thin it is
Hope it protects engine well
No Jack stands ?
We used them to have more space.
I did these exact steps and got a check engine light after about 100km
Obd reader at autoparts (free check)
Use 0 20 they say 0 16 but to thin oil
Yes you have done extensive research,I will stick with the Toyota Engineer recommendation!!
