Technically being on probation, does grant the right to searches whenever where during a stop or POs. But entirely depends on terms of probation the judge sets and whether it’s felony or misdemeanor probation
Brown_GroundWalker Residue is enough for criminal charges. But realistically, he wouldn’t be booked. Just cited for it and given a court date. But yeah I don’t think any DA in CA would purse charges for that. Easy arguments for the defense. In some parts of the country, possibly, but no in CA.

Dan Hughes bro u dont make sense shut the fuck up and stop over analyzing everything. Its not made to be 100% accurate and it’ll be hard to find alot that are 100% accurate.
The ecosystem of current police work in the field totally negates the conclusion of the scene. These days as we have seen they will never negate fellow officers.
Not when they have probable cause or reasonable suspicion. His previous record gave them that. They only need permission when they don’t have any evidence suggesting you have anything, in which case the smartest answer is no. But if they find even the smallest amount of PC they can search without your consent.
So 1. a white burnout gets pulled over by a black and latina cop 2. they actually find drugs in the car of someone who agreed to a search 3. then the virtuous cop goes against her own partner to save the suspect from being unreasonably arrested Literally *everything* in this show is the opposite of how events turn out in the real world.
This show is very preachy about how cops SHOULD be, but is often not very realistic to how cops ARE. Unfortunately I think in the real world that guy would have 100% have had his life ruined for that baggy
When this show started it did have some parallels to Zootopia such as Grey disliking Nolan being a cop similar to how Chief Bogo was like with Judy Hopps.
Lopes: And this bag looks older than you
Andrew Joyner Lopez
😂😂😂
He better not forget that lesson. He was acting the same way Doug was being a bad cop.
Worse , He use his father position as a shield.
@@anubizz3 thats why hes one of the worst characters on the rookie

"Given his history, a search is completely within reason"
Only if you ignore the law and prioritize making arrests
Love this scene 👏👏
I love this show.
Officer west look badass in the pic
Idk why but it shocks me every time when I see what cops are allowed to do in the US
lmao basing your world view over the soap opera of cop shows

What relationship?
In the UK a search based on a persons criminal history is illegal
It’s not about criminal history, he’s on probation. They are allowed to do that if his terms of his probation allows it.

Umm pretty sure the owner of the car had to give the officer permission to search the car.

As thr FTO she should have shut him down at the start not until he destroyed his car
Typical LAPD/LASO fishing expedition.
Hi
Wow
The rookie does a good job of depicting the fascist mindset of the majority of American cops
In my eyes this is not a Bad Cop, he is just doing his Job very carefully
Edit: Drugs should be Legal
TO Lopez doin a bad job there
Why are they searching a guys car that got convicted four years ago of possession. Just saying no hate
She doing to much

He should get a new TO. Angela is Tbh kinda ignorant.
So done with this show.... portrayal of police work is about the same with Zootopia
When this show started it did have some parallels to Zootopia such as Grey disliking Nolan being a cop similar to how Chief Bogo was like with Judy Hopps.
U can't stand her, she forces west to lie on a police report for a trumped up charge, and then she complains about this.
She’s honestly my least favorite character
