I recently upgraded from a MY2017 F-Pace S to the MY2021 F-Pace SVR. And after 6,000kms, the smile hasn't left my face. The interior is a huge step up from the prior version and the engine noise is sublime. The Meridian sound system is top notch and can drown out just about anything except the engine in full throat. While I expect to be driving an EV within 4 years, I intend to enjoy every minute in what is arguably the best all around performance SUV on the market. The only downside is the less than ideal fuel economy. But I am still smiling!
By the grace of God, just bought a 2022 Fuji White with the mars red and black alcantara interior. I haven’t seen it yet because of travels. Can’t wait to get home. Have already bought a set of Pilot Sport 4S tyres to replace the Pirelli all seasons it’s currently wearing. Very excited and grateful.
Great review Paul, showing much more than any brochure or dealer review could ever offer. A real improvement over the previous interior, Love the ‘Sexy Mumma’ phone call record, haha. Made my day!
I bought a ‘21 F-Pace SVR in May. It is amazing. Review is well done and matches my experiences. I had same feeling of going with the big V8 before we all go electric. I’ve owned German and Italian cars and I think this may be the best car I’ve owned when balancing all factors. The engine is outstanding…sound, speed, responsiveness. Handling is shocking for such a big car…put in in dynamic mode and it is very tight. The interior is beautiful, quiet, comfortable with terrific informatics and every option you can think of. Style is understated in many ways but beautiful. Only negatives are 1) gas mileage…but that’s what you get with 550HP and 2) I hate the heated front windshield with the wires that you can see in the windscreen at night and in certain daylight. If you’re looking at a sport SUV you MUST look at the SVR.
Took delivery of my SVR in July and OMG what a beast!! It does make you smile every time the noise pedal is tickled. Amazing piece of kit and well worth the investment. My advice to anyone considering this car is to go for it before we are all forced into milk floats!!
Rob..its been a year since your post - how is your investment? I assume the value of your car has increased? We live in Australia Rob, we wont be forced into either millk floats or electric vehicles - Australia is no where near going electric and no plans to do so
Hi JC, not sure how the value has held out but the drive is as exiting and still makes me smile! I’ve covered 12k miles now but it doesn’t miss a beat. I assume you have the SVR Jag too? I suspect that Jag will come up with an electric version and maybe pipe the exhaust notes through the Pivi-Pro??
Great review Paul. Couldn't agree more with your assessment, and really good detail and explanation on all the car has to offer. I picked my 2021 up in June from a UK dealer, loved every one of the 3k miles I've done so far! By far the best performance SUV in it's class. There is so much character and so many layers to this car and it's capabilities, that I'd recommend it to any petrol head or performance car enthusiast who needs the balance between a high-end performance car, and some practicality.
Definitely one of the nicest looking SUVs on sale in my opinion and I would definitely own one of these if I could afford it before everything goes electric. Nothing will ever beat the sound of v8 for me and this is up there in terms of sound and theatre. Also Paul I know you’re not a audiophile, but most of us aren’t, and if you can just give an idea how sound system sounds, it’s probably good enough for the majority of people. Finally hope you and the CarExpert team are safe and coping okay with the Victorian and NSW lockdown :)
I’ve had the 23 Edition 1988 SVR for around 2 months now and it’s brilliant. Had a slight issue with speaker shorting but easily fixed with a reset. You don’t want to get out of it and I love that it makes a racket! It’s a head turner and lots of people commenting on it’s looks! Purrrrrrr
Paul, what I would really like to see you do a comparison between this and an I Pace. The old versus the new. V8's are great, but as an I Pace owner I can vouch for the fact it's an absolute hoot. The "I" is down on power compared to the "F" but has comparable torque - and it's totally instant! Jag's electric future looks good.
"Best looking SUV on the market by far".Says it all really,a family member jumped in our Prestige and said "she felt like she was sitting in business class" Love it.
Great review. I have ordered one and it is coming in October. Strangely I could not get the HUD cause of chip deficit issues!?! The USB ports in the second row are available as an option.
Ivan I was concerned about missing tech, ordered mine last month with every option incl. Svo paint, and jag have confirmed it’s not missing HUD or anything. My build is week 52. I thought the shortages were affecting 2022 builds only
@@samcas707 Thank you for the feedback... It may be market dependent. Croatia is a verry small one. Where are you situated? In any case I will give my dealer a call and check. Hopefully something can be done and it is not to late. Mine is due week 44. Cheers
Spot on review Paul! I traded in my '17 F-Pace S, ordered, and just took delivery of a '21 F-Pace SVR. WOW! The '17's rear end seemed unsettled in curves even on lightly bumpy roads, the ride was "teetery" and rough, the steering was numb, it had Camry-like brake feel, a jerky transmission when accelerating from a full stop, a pedestrian interior worthy of a Mazda, and a rubbish infotainment system that could have come from 2008... in other words: a beautiful SUV, but UNREFINED. However, the '17 F-Pace S's V-6 does have a glorious growl that only a 90 degree V-6 can make. In contrast, the SVR's driving dynamics feel properly developed such that it inspires confidence: it can handle curves. The interior quality and the Pivi Pro infotainment system are a several steps up. The exhaust note is adoringly raucous, but I am also happy it has a mute button. Even with the 22" wheels, it rides with far less harshness than my 20" shod '17. My biggest gripe with the SVR is visual: The grey body cladding (Subaru/Jeep/Audi/Generic Crossover?) contrasts with the gloss piano black on window surrounds, A, B, and C pillars and roof rails. Also, gratuitous grey plastic line the hood vents and festoon the lower air intakes on the nose with an "aggressive mustache" that seems both visually jarring and un-necessary on an Ian Callum design. Another nit is that the heat venting hood slots allow rain/snow/road grime to drain down the hood directly into the engine bay. We seem to be in the era of "Top ICE", so get them while they are available! All in all, the F-Pace SVR is both a classy beast and a treat that I'm proud to own!
I think this car is stunning, and the interior is super impressive. I am a hard core Range Rover fan, so it is hard to accept the F-Pace, but I think I am converted now.
After 28 Beemers, ventured into one of these, (Hakuba/Red leather) and absolutely love it, the dynamics and handling and finish are superb, well done JLR !!
5:17 Yes, people do complain about how unreliable they are. You can't squeeze the centre console like a lemon to predict whether the engine is going to chew itself up moments after the warranty ends. There are plenty of cars that don't feel solid but are mechanically bulletproof. And there's plenty of cars which are impeccably constructed but have a high probability of being a lemon.
But the bulk of these are leased .leasing companies want them back around the 4year mark so they can dispose of these lemon 🍋 before warranty expires as they become near impossible to sell once warranty is finished
@@eshanmirash2456 But my point is that reliability is completely separate from build quality. Conflating the two is a way of dismissing legitimate concerns over Jaguar/Land Rover's terrible track record on drivetrain reliability.
We are reviewing a new car. It's impossible to comment on future reliability - especially if we have no issues with the car during the week we spend with it. Jaguar claims to have improved quality control and the build quality has improved over the last car we drove.
I have the 2021 model and it is also the first V8 I have owned. Best decision to have bought it. It lives up to the hype about its driving pleasure and all the finishes and bells and whistles are perfect. I have had it for 3 months and still go and look at it every morning and before retiring to bed. It is that good. I am still discovering many useful driving features and a number of built in safety stops. I wonder if it might grow in value over time as there are very few V8 options in the market. The rev heads of the world will probably sell the house to get one once Jaguar go all electric soon. And I believe that is a mistake. Great review
Yes sound system overview would be great also generally the camera at the windscreen is for the lane keep assist. autonomous braking is usually a radar in the front bumper/grill. Keep up the great content mate 👍
Have had one of these for a couple of months. The Pivi Pro looks a lot better than the previous infotainment system, and is great in concept. In execution, it needs more work, as there have been strange glitches from time to time. But driving dynamics are first rate. Great fun to hustle this thing around. A car this big should not handle this well, and the whole package is special because of that engine. Shopping around, the Porsche and Audi offerings felt competent, but cold and clinical in comparison. It may be the end of an era, but it's a great way to go out!!
Hi Paul, Day 6 of owning the new F Pace SVR. Santorini with oyster and black interior, on the 22 inch rims. I was about to buy a Tesla, but decided to have one last lap. If anyone is undecided about this car, I have no buyer's remorse. As for the ground clearance, I am in Montreal, need it for the snow. The sound system, I think it's really good, but I don't work for What Hifi either. Great Review!! Thanks
I've ordered the F Pace SVR Edition 1988 with deliver March 2023 and I can wait. Thanks for the review - hopefully the big cat lives up to expectations.
This is one of the cleanest looking SPORT orientated SUV's on the market. Very appealing silhouette. You can spec these out to have the comfort seats and a really nice cabin of your choice (not everything of this sporty calibre needs to have carbon fibre).
Getting mine in Sept and ordered the Constellation Blue. Is a beauty and can’t wait. The DBX just ain’t aggressive looking enough in comparison and the price on the SVR is superb.
Thank you for this brillaint review! I dont think any other Aussie motoring journalist would have done this vehicle justice! Hands down the best sounding vehicle in its class and the best looking in my opinion! Was so close to buying this but we chose the X3 M instead as the wife doubted Jag's reliability! :(
Car looks amazing Love the minimal and clean look inside as well - might be my new favourite suv Keen for sound reviews just coming from a normal person. Most cards the top range model has a branded sound system, would be nice to know how they compare to stock
Great review, but really wish in the video they spent 20 seconds doing a start up and rev with the mic and camera at rear to capture the start up and exhaust sound. This should be done with every review (especially performance car reviews)
Sometimes you see a car that just seems like great value. This is one of those in my opinion along with the Tesla model 3. Both very different cars but represent incredible value at their respective price points.
Test driven the car and loved it, so I ordered one back in May with reasonably good discounts, the ETA was given 30/11. However, the dealership called me last month and advised me that the delivery date has been pushed back until early next year, and they had to remove one of the options - Technology Pack(HUD & wireless charging) due to semiconductors shortage. If I still want to go ahead with the order with that option I need to wait until the middle of next year. So I decided to cancel the order(5k desposit refunded), because I suspect the price might go a bit lower/make some of options standard after 01/07/22 when the UK-AUS Free Trade agreement kicks in, I am still interested in this car but I will wait and see how that plays out next year.
@@CarExpertAus , yes it was the pre facelift. I got my glc brand new in August 2019. Due to COVID I only have 8000 miles on her, but each one of those have been full of smiles and aural pleasure. Merc was able to offer me a far better deal and, even though I am not one to fall for the jag / Land Rover reliability hysteria, it was still a factor in the purchasing decision.
Do you have any experience on the reliability side of things for Jaguar during the ownership? I personally know families and friends who have had terrible ownership experience with Land Rover but at the same time I don't hear much from the Jaguar side.
Worth looking how SavageGeese includes his audio reviews. It is helpful and worth going the extra mile for as it would differentiate your channel from others.
What a beast of an engine! That growl and snorting sounds so good! Who cares about the sound system when you've got that think barking away!! 🤣😂 Always liked the look of the F-Pace, very beautiful looking SUV from the get go, and the SVR definitely looks more aggressive as well, especially if you have it looming in the rear view mirror... you might need to move out of the way for fear of being gobbled up!! I'm sure I can still function if I sell my liver, kidney, an eye... hmmm... what else...... 😂😂
I reckon you guys should just comment on the sound systems of each car as an ‘ordinary individual’ - chances are, anyone who buys any car like this wont be audiophiles, and not many are in general anyway. So just a brief comment on the quality of the system, to your ordinary ears, would be a lovely inclusion.
I agree, just a quick mention would be great. I think more importantly, some car manufacturers need to be called out for using absolute crap sound systems in their cars.
Great job on this Paul! That lovely V8 sound is why I will never buy an EV. Such a great SUV in the SVR. Do wish it had cooled seats. For the sound review, I would measure for distortion and how clean the sound is. Its sound profile. Objective measures. Savagegeese does a great audio breakdown in each of his videos on the sound profile.
Really great review. We are friends, I own one and absolutely love it. Its such an angry beast of an SUV and much more affordable than a cayenne turbo with very similar performance.
Great review. To answer your question, I really need to get the V8 bug out of my system before we all move into EV. This car would be perfect for that. Keep up the great work 👍
Great review as always Paul! Just curious as to why you've done repeated tests on the same vehicles, yet (for example), you've never tested the Jeep Trackhawk..We all know how you like that supercharged punt in the back!!
JLR has really hit the mark on this new 5L F Pace. There’s a lot of reviews of this car out there, all seem to think it’s a big step up, incl the beautiful interior. But my God why are car prices in Australia so freaking high? I can get that same car here in Canada for $105-110, approx 75-80k USD. Is the government skimming off 30-40k in taxes on every one of these?
Funny how almost everyone goes on about the "reliability issues" with JLR. Which is true. However, Most of these issues lie with the LR section whilst Jaguar's reliability is miles better than it's agricultural inspired sibling, Land Rover.
JLR group always produced amazing interiors. The SVR's engine is beautiful. But I always find it behind its competitors in drag races. They need to up the performance just a tad.
Full electric is a gamble if they don't have chargers universal, let alone disposal/waste products involved. Toyota's hybrid technology is very successful and reliable. And, I don't see the oil industry giving up on the current status of combustion technology as well.
Just put a deposit down on one of these after our Fiat 500 Abarth was involved in an accident (wasn’t our fault). Luckily, it’s being sold from the dealer at MSRP. Just waiting to see if it will be repaired or totaled. No matter which happens, it’s either being traded in or the proceeds from it being totaled are going towards the F-Pace SVR. After recently purchasing a 2022 Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate Edition in Maya Blue we are extremely excited about purchasing then F-Pace! It basically has the same engine (-25 hp) but it’s faster than the Rover (which is much heavier)! Basically hoping the Fiat is totaled so we can pick up the F-Pace that much sooner!🤞🏼🤣
1. Once they go electric they will be crap. Those V8’s will sky rocket in value. 2. Sexy mumma 😂😂 3. I will NOT buy an EV when you can buy a vehicle that sounds like that. So good!!!!! Love ya work mate

I'm sorry to hear that. How frustrating!
Very nice. It was on my shortlist - the noise is amazing. In the end though I went for a GLC 63S AMG
Interesting! How long ago did you get the GLC? Was this pre-facelift F-Pace?
@@CarExpertAus , yes it was the pre facelift. I got my glc brand new in August 2019. Due to COVID I only have 8000 miles on her, but each one of those have been full of smiles and aural pleasure. Merc was able to offer me a far better deal and, even though I am not one to fall for the jag / Land Rover reliability hysteria, it was still a factor in the purchasing decision.
great stuff paul and carexpert team, but that downshift is legendary!
Thanks, mate!
Thank you! Will check it out.
YES to a sound review!
Well any person, with ordinary ears, who buys this car will find the stereo absolutely fantastic.
I agree, just a quick mention would be great. I think more importantly, some car manufacturers need to be called out for using absolute crap sound systems in their cars.
I think he has nice ears. Don’t be so cruel mate… 😂
@@nathancooper1 😂😂😂
Sure thing!
Paul, I think you've gotten seasoned enough to develop a metric against which you can rank all the cars you've reviewed. This Jag looks fantastic.
Sound review is cool and this car is a dream
😄
Great Review Paul! Sadly, I already have two Maybachs so yeah....
Please test the sound in my country they charge car prices to put the high end like meridian 🇿🇦R140 000= 10 000 dollars in a range for example so
Great job on this Paul!
I am happy to have Hussain bolt in my garage ( EV ) but I would surely 😉 will also have a beast with a beating heart 💓 in my garage.
Sound review would be appreciated please
The photo of driving the Cherokee on track with the helmet on was hilarious 😂
Really great review. We are friends, I own one and absolutely love it. Its such an angry beast of an SUV and much more affordable than a cayenne turbo with very similar performance.
Great review. To answer your question, I really need to get the V8 bug out of my system before we all move into EV. This car would be perfect for that. Keep up the great work 👍
The engine even sounded great on my cheap smart phone!
😄
Great review as always Paul! Just curious as to why you've done repeated tests on the same vehicles, yet (for example), you've never tested the Jeep Trackhawk..We all know how you like that supercharged punt in the back!!
Unfortunately they haven't had a Trackhawk on their test fleet for a little while. Would definitely want to drive one for video though!
I am going to order one this year does it have heads up?
15:20 if you’re here for engine notes. You’re welcome 🍻
Great review, certainly this review was thanks to my request a month ago 😈😂
We aim to please!
i find it interesting that there are no USB outlets in the back, whereas in my 2017 v6 diesel f pace there are 2 USB c 2 USB a and on 12 volt, odd.
I absolutely love this car. Thanks for the detailed review, Paul. 👍
My pleasure!
Does the interior have any ambient lighting
Do you normally cover the weight of the cars in your reviews? Could be something to consider
Sometimes - can mention it more regular though if people are interested.
Best car reviewer by far.✅
Is the small cup not meant to go in the middle cup holder in some cars??
How are you getting satellite image, is it tethering off your phone data or do jag provide a sim
You mention the interior has been updated. Has it been updated from the 2021 model? Also have the seats been updated from the 2021 model?
JLR has really hit the mark on this new 5L F Pace. There’s a lot of reviews of this car out there, all seem to think it’s a big step up, incl the beautiful interior. But my God why are car prices in Australia so freaking high? I can get that same car here in Canada for $105-110, approx 75-80k USD. Is the government skimming off 30-40k in taxes on every one of these?
Crazy taxes 😪
Australia are the masters with extortionate car taxes…
Taxes upon taxes. With a loaded SVR with options I'm looking at around $185k drive away..
@@nkjrm348 your government makes more money on every car than the company that makes and sells them🤣
Supercharged V6 SVR Jag SUV...Exactly what I always wanted from Jaguar........
I’ll take this V8, if only for the sound.
Funny how almost everyone goes on about the "reliability issues" with JLR. Which is true.
However, Most of these issues lie with the LR section whilst Jaguar's reliability is miles better than it's agricultural inspired sibling, Land Rover.
waiting for d pure ev ,hey by d way d screen DOES IT TILT earlier it use to tilt
Amazing car!! Great review
Thanks!
1. Once they go electric they will be crap. Those V8’s will sky rocket in value.
2. Sexy mumma 😂😂
3. I will NOT buy an EV when you can buy a vehicle that sounds like that. So good!!!!!
Love ya work mate
Well done mate excellent video.
Has quality improved on new F-Pace? I know previous JLR cars had quality issues!
Their 2021 JD Power score is very poor.
Yes - well I feel it has. Let's see how they go in the long run.
@@CarExpertAus Thanks...
Good review as always. Keep it going!. So this car is not an awd?
What do you think Paul: this or the Alfa Romeo? And why?
This :-) I think it sounds better and the technology inside the cabin is way better than the Alfa.
Great review i would rather know more about sound system's than how soft touch point's.
Will you review the new Outlander?
Definitely!
Could you please review the accord
im always keen to know how the sound is. Its such a big thing for me so would be keen to know
No usb charge point for dash cam at rear vision mirror
Sound review definitely needed
6:36 my man! 👊 😏💯
😅
i love this car so much. So nice to drive and the new interior is sooooo welcome :)
Jags V8s are actually pretty good than its competition.....so I will say Jag is converting itself so early
Amazing review!
