My first car is my 1988 Ford tbird turbo coupe with the 5 speed, mine has 190hp and 240 ib ft of torque. I didn't know the older ones had less hp. I still own mine

They also had a larger turbo. So if you swap to the previous version turbo's on the newer 87-88 models you can get more "stock" horsepower, Obviously a larger than stock turbo would net you way more. But I wonder how much more HP the older one would have. Supposedly when they tested the last 2 years of this model they found it was faster than the Mustang GT with a V8 so they downsized the turbo and even detuned it to gimp the T-Bird so it didn't compete with and take away from the other's limelight.

lol. I had to laugh because I owned an 1986 turbo coupe. I love the keyless entry on the door. I love that the window controls and mirror controls were in the center between the seats. It was loaded and the plush seating was so nice. I only hated that the speedo on had a top speed of 80 MPH. . I learned to do some mods on the car to get the same power as the mustang SVO. I got the 87 turbo hood. and added the SVO intercooler. I did get the essenlinger turbo header and swapped out the vane meter for the MAF meter setup. I did get the upgraded camshaft. I did bored the motor over 0.30. and upgraded the 18lb injectors to 24 lb injectors. With all that work the motor somehow crack where the bellhousing bolted up and I ended up getting another 2.3 motor. I ended up wrecking the car being stupid. but with my mods, I ended up making 222.4 hp and 207 ft lb of torque. at 18 psi of boost.

Front emblem looks like it's from an 85, and my 84 Turbo Coupe had the 2 spoke steering wheel, not the one shown. I loved mine, first car after college.

Pretty sure they redesigned the dashboard/instrument panel on these for the 1985 model year. My first car was an '86 Turbo Coupe. Black with Bordello Red interior.
