    Thank you so much for this!!! I was soooooooooooooo worried I was going to have to reinstall everything, but method 10 fixed me right up. I had cloned my smaller drive to a larger new drive and after a couple of days of making certain everything was working properly, I reformatted the older drive and set it up to be used for storage. My pc worked fine while I was working and I thought nothing of it until I tried turning it back on a few hours later and go the dreaded blue screen of death. You are a lifesaver!!!

    Hello there, question: Do I need to make a backup in order not to loose my files before trying method 10 and 11? Thank you in advance!

    • @ValiumMediaTech
      @ValiumMediaTech  4 года назад +3

      Welcome whermans;
      - in method number 10, you will not lose anything unless you mistakenly do a Format for windows or another storage partition instead of do it for boot or UEFI partition.
      - In method number 11, you have a choice to keep or to delete your files, however, Installed apps will be lost in both options.

    • @ValiumMediaTech
      @ValiumMediaTech  4 года назад

      The size of Boot partition usually is 500 mb or less.
      The size of windows or another storage partition will be in GB (gigabytes).

      @@ValiumMediaTech My Laptop failed to boot after restarting to finish Windows updates
      I tried method 1-8 without installation media. I'm gonna list all the errors that occurred:
      At method 4: when I tried to delete recent updates that were pending I got this code: 0x800f082f
      It also kept saying the scratch directory size might be insufficient to perform this operation.
      At method 5: without installation media, there was no corruption detected.
      At method 7: the restore operation completed succesfully, but the SFC scan failed and I'm not able to boot in safe mode with command prompt (F6) and get the blue screen.
      At method 10: I probably need to select Disk 0? But I'm not sure if this is the way forward at this point

      @@whermans1 So it's supposed you have windows installed into the smaller disk (SSD) which is disk number 0.
      Now, you have to select the proper boot partition in order to apply method number 10 safely.
      If you are not sure which volume is the boot partition, watch the following video and apply steps of th 10th method from there:
      ruclips.net/video/LX-IrVIapQE/видео.html
      Also, you can try to apply steps in main method of the mentioned video first, as it has only 2 commands to execute while the success rate is higher.
      I'm waiting for your feedback ☺️.

    Whenever I turn on my computer and it leads to the windows screen, it's automatically on automatic repair mode. Whenever it's supposed to show the blue screen with advanced options when it fails, my computer screen glitches out and then goes blank, turns back on and repeats. I cannot access the advanced options normally, but if you know a way tell me please.

      If you are online now, we can fix the issue together.

    • @ValiumMediaTech
      @ValiumMediaTech  3 года назад

      Try all of them one by one, because your issue can't be linked to a specific issue. For example, removing the battery could lead to failure of installing pending updates, corruption of system files if the windows was running during the battery removal, corrupted sector in he disk, ...etc.
      So you have to try all of them one by one on the same order.
      If you still need a help after or during applying any method, add your question and we will try to help you.

      What is the tool that you have used to create a bootable USB ?
      Suggestions:
      You have to confirm that your disk is connected and shown to your system as followings:
      1. Boot from the USB and click on "Repair your Computer" option instead of "Install"
      Or press Shift+f12 from keyboard to open Command prompt.
      2. Type the following commands and press enter to execute:
      DISKPART
      LIST DISK
      3. If you can see your disk with its actual size, then your disk is fine.
      4. If the disk not shown, then the disk may be corrupted or disabled in BIOS settings, or not connected firmly to its socket on the motherboard.

    Hello. I am not able to get to the login screen. I have tried using control alt delete and it does not work. I am only allowed to use the command prompt and the X: drive. I continuously run chkdsk which seems to improve it every time. I am able to see the log in screen for a split second if I scroll up on the screen or hit control alt delete, then it disappears again. The login screen will not appear long enough for me to log in. I tried to turn off the password feature in User Accouts but don't know what commands would work with X: drive to open it. I thought it could be a graphics drive problem but I cannot get to the device manager in X: drive. At the command prompt I get errors when I try to run DISM. The problem occurred after installing Windows updates. I cannot uninstall the updates because the wusa command is not recognized. I cannot clear the windows update cache because the wserv is invalid. I am assuming these do not exist. I downloaded the mui file that contains wusa but do not know how to install it using usb drive. Chkdsk is working but src scannow comes back with Resource protection could not fix all of the corrupted files. Now I get automatic repair when I try to restart. I got excited when I opened notepad and was hoping to remove the windows updates from there but cannot. I was told that the windows updates is causing my problems. I also believe the windows.old folders/files I have on my hard drive are also adding to the problems and would like to delete them.

      @@ValiumMediaTech Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I saw the results of the test using notepad. It said root cause found: bad hard disk (the drives on computer all say healthy). This is a problem because I cannot come out of pocket right now to get a new computer. I have seen videos on how to repair bad sectors on the hard drive. I work from home and have VPN and other work related software on the computer plus four windows old files. I am sure there are compatibility issues. When problems occur, it is suggested by software tech to reintall Windows 10. I continually have problems with Windows Updates. I do hope there is a nonfinancial solution to this problem. I have spent several days trying to solve this. Thank you very much for putting these types of videos together. At least I am able to understand the problem. I am willing to speak offline, if necessary.

      @@ValiumMediaTech I am sorry. I was not aware. I discovered that my Bios needs updating. I do not know the right words to update it in command prompt. I downloaded the files from Lenovo website for ThinkPad M700 GT10. Would it be D:\windows\system32>G: filename ? G is USB drive. Bios files are on usb drive. Should I use a bios utility installer? Do the files need extracting or will Windows open the package? I cannot find much information on how to install it from command prompt, everything is from inside Windows assuming everyone can access it. I think this may solve my problem. I was able to access bios using F12 and the last update was Sept. 2020. I have contacted Lenovo community, no reply yet. Thank you

      When I installed the bios file from USB message said "An operating System wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system. Press Control Alt Delete to restart." When I press control slt delete, compter turns off. This happened before, but it said press any key to contine and it would go into the operating system. I watched a video on the subject. The bootmgr is listed saying 413,738 bootmgr 8,192 bootsect, there are numbers infront of pagefile.sys and swapfile.

      Type NOTEPAD and hit Enter, then click on FILE panel and select OPEN option. After that navigate to your partitions and see which one is your windows partition.
      Windows partition will contain a USERS folder. Inside the users folder, you will see the folder with the name of your profile or account.

      1- Try to boot from a USB or DVD drive that has a version similar or newer that your installed windows, and execute the long command:
      DISM /Image:C:\ /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:D:\Sources\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess
      or this
      DISM /Image:C:\ /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:ESD:D:\Sources\install.ESD:1 /LimitAccess
      (Replace the C: with your windows partition and replace the D: with the DVD or the USB partition)
      2- If still not work, try to boot into safe mode and execute the command again.

      If you can do a system restore, it can fix your issue.
      If you have do a manual backup for registry, you can restore them from Advanced recovery Environment.
      If your registry backup was enabled, you can restore the registry to fix your issue:

      If all previous suggestions not available, you can fix your issue by resetting system to default (as on the method number 11) or by doing a clean installation for windows:

      Make sure to add the correct letter for system partition. In the video, the C: was the system partition or disk, but it may by different in your laptop. Even if the C: is the system partition in normal boot, it could be a different letter when booting into advanced recovery menu.

    • @ValiumMediaTech

      Also, you can type Y and restart your system and see if the CHKDSK run after restarting or not. If not run after restart, boot into advanced recovery and try to execute the command again.

      So, before we start to fix your issue, I need some extra information:
      1. Did you tried to boot in safe mode ?
      2. Did you tried to do a system restore ?
      3. What other methods you have tried ?
      4. What is your windows version and build number ?

      BCDEDIT
      In my laptop, the boot partition is on the volume1, and the windows is on the C: partition as on the following image:
