That looked like a whole lot of fun Peter. Some amazing cars, the one 77 , what a beautiful piece of machinery. Congrats on 160, excellent job. All the best, Geof
One of your best videos yet. Fair play to you doing those speeds in a soft top as well !! That Oli Webb can't half drive !!!. This one should get you well on the way to 10k subs 👍
Awesome video! Some truly incredible car there, that One-77 is gorgeous. Got some great drone shots in this one and we'll done on the 160mph, that takes a lot 'o balls! Amazing stuff once again, the 10k is closing up on you 😉
Was surprised at how easily some of the other cars pulled away from the Caterham as I thought this model was compatible with most things on the road? Great video mate, must have been really special with Ollie behind the wheel!
Initial and midrange acceleration is as good as you will find, however aerodynamics are about as bad as you will find. That is where it loses out to most cars once you get above about 60mph. Ollie was brilliant, just gutted my mic failed but he jumped in that car with normal shoes having only driven one a couple of time a few years ago and was on it straight away. So impressive and such a great guy.
Petrol Ped I don't blame you! That feeling of excitement knowing you've had one of the best times of your life and you almost came wait to get home to edit the video to realise your missing parts :( still a brilliant video mate :)
Cheers. What is more annoying is I brought a GoPro Session especially for this event and when it arrived it didn't work. It wouldn't recognise the SD card. Still trying to sort it out but I therefore had to revert back to an old GoPro and was really worried what the audio would be like. In the end it was OK but not as professional as I would like. Still, my best day so far as Petrol Ped :-)
I really like you Mate, you are a cool cat and your videos are proof of the time you spend in the editing room, nice shots and good back ground music. Thanks
Pucker vid that fella. I've done a few of these events now and got soooooo close to the double ton and the magic 200mph with a gps verified 192mph into a very bad head wind and i have to say even in a close roofed car its frigging nerve racking at those super high speeds. I will be going this year with more power in the car I've already done the 192mph in so all going well with better weather and about 300bhp more than last time i don't think it will be a problem getting beyond the 200mph mark.
Brilliant loved that I used to race at Bruntingthorpe many years ago it's fantastic venue . There were some very cool cars even though the caterham is a quick car that Ferrari was pulling away at some speed . well done on 160 mph I bet it was windy at that speed? You need to go back with a quicker car next year👍 great video as always if you have any more footage please let us see it . Have a great weekend ,Tony 👍👍🏁🏁
You are probably right. I struggled to keep up with stuff in a straight line but I can't see many people keeping up with a Le Mans driver taking a 620R to the edge through the corners ;-)
Off topic. What were those grey looked military Lockheed L-1011's in the background? Don't remember any of those in the states. Don't think our military used them. I'd love to have a Caterham.
Yeah I'm not sure who was more happy to see who, you meeting pro race driver, or pro race driver meeting random man who lets him have a go in his 620R lololol.
It would be fun to hear what Oli thinks of driving (a modern edition of),the car design that was built by Colin Chapman as a gift for Race Driver Jimmy Clark as his fun transport vehicle
Sadly I got him saying exactly that during a chat with him in the car but my mic failed and I didn't get any audio...GUTTED :-( Safe to say he loved it !
OMG what a superb collection of motor vehicles. Just think, in 23 years time, it'll be a collection of electric cars shooting up that runway! Can't see it being the same somehow. Never mind. Needs must as they say. Great video as usual Peter. Keep up the good work :}. Jon Newport.
just wondering if you or anyone knows how hot the brakes get on track day for Caterham? I know some brakes get super hot but they are on cars that weigh like 4 times a Caterham
I tracked my 150bhp Superlight when I had it and I never suffered from brake fade. As you say, the weight of the car helps a great deal. I know a few people who have upgraded the pads and this improves braking performance and durability.
I’d love to go to one of these events, those Aston Martins put everything else to shame in the sound department (I know that’s very subjective, but I love that barrel chested V12 bellow). And fair play hitting 160 in what’s basically a 50 year old design, not bad at all mate.
Cracking video, that Huayra looked stunning in that colour scheme, the one:1 is a beast, and the Enzo just gets better and better with age, didn’t really like the looks when it first came out, but now it looks futuristic compared to a lot of the current stuff, which other than a few exceptions all look a bit dull. Too much emphasis on going quick and not enough on looks.
Congrats on the 160mph chap but the stats on the Koenigsegg One:1 are slightly out... The factory numbers at launch were 1360hp and with a weight of 1360kgs.
So ... do you think the 620 does 0-60 in the figures they quote? Did they give you any figures to work with there. The Ferrari surely is not much quicker but it seemed to leave the caterham as if it was a push bike, although your co driver did leave the bmw until it hit 100 i guess. I ask as they are such a light car and my westfield, now sold, never did the numbers they quoted. And I ask as i am thinking about getting another one... cant decide between 420R westfield sport 250 and the 620. THink I may kill myself in the 620, but I guess you get used to it... and the price difference when spec´d equally and factory built is about 10k or less and well, for a fun car these replicas are hard to beat in my experience... But still got the lotus in there... I guess I will do a video.. hah
Hi Gary. I am pretty sure the car can do the quoted time to 60. However that doesn’t mean the average driver can do that in the car. Getting the right bite point and feeding in the power to avoid wheel spin, bogging down or if you are not careful snapping the drive shaft (a common problem) and instead getting perfect traction is mighty tough ! It is ballistic to 80 and then aero starts to take effect. That’s when Ferrari’s and BMWs will have you 😜 For me the pick of the bunch is the 420R. Still bloody fast but not too mental 😂 I have one for a road trip in the Spring 👍
A 420 has at least 360hp/t, including the driver and fuel. Some cars with this ratio can do under 3s 0-60 or under 5s, 0-100mph. Because from standstill it is hard to get optimum performance, something like 40-180kph time would be more relevant in showing how quick the car is or simply the hp/t at wheels including driver and fuel. The only thing is turbo engines perform a little bit better for the same power because of the torque-rpm curve. Caterhams ans Westfields have poor aerodynamics and at high speed the performance is reduced
The little Caterham stays ahead of the M6 until Ollie changes into 5th gear - that’s about 90-100mph - and the passenger messes with the power to weight and drag - pretty impressive as it’s a RWD track weapon not a drag car !
Still don't know where the shift points are? Why does that throw you so? When Ollie drove it, when he shifted, his revs dropped to above the point at which you were changing up to the next gear. I can't fathom it.
I wish they sold the Caterham in America.. America be trippin man..If it's really the land of the free then why cant we have Caterham's?..ugh....Great video tho B)
Tom Strutt Stop carrying on like a women, the music didn’t physically hurt your ears you hypochondriac, the video had a good balance of engine audio and back ground music
why, while you are enjoying fine (very) high performance cars are you calling it "insane" and "bonkers", etc.? apparently, you have never spent time on modern 1000cc sportbikes. get yourself one or more and return. all of a sudden, cars costing 10 times as much seem, well, not so insane anymore!
thanks for responding. i like your videos. as you might have figured, i have been enjoying 1000cc sportbikes and for a long time. i got my first one soon after college in the 70's and the ones now really are race machines on the street. that's why anyone with one should do track days to begin to appreciate them. the handling, stability at speed and power are addicting. few things are such a rush and generally affordable than coming around a turn on the track, still leaning over, rolling on the power and wheeling out of the turn before straightening up. no car can come close this exhilaration! try it!
Great drive Peter - Congrats on V-Maxing it. Heroic!!!!! & the footage of Oli driving was awesome...
Cheers Buddy :-)
That car was built for corners. Serious bit of driving. Would love a go in this. 👍
It sure was and it does them very well !
Superb video Pete, what a great experience and respect for hitting the 160 in the Caterham. Most excellent!
Cheers Nick. I won't forget it for a long time :-)
That looked like a whole lot of fun Peter. Some amazing cars, the one 77 , what a beautiful piece of machinery. Congrats on 160, excellent job.
All the best,
Geof
Cheers Geof !
That run by Oli was just fantastic.
It was quite something to watch. Such an amazing driver :-)
One of your best videos yet. Fair play to you doing those speeds in a soft top as well !! That Oli Webb can't half drive !!!. This one should get you well on the way to 10k subs 👍
Cheers, I hope you are correct :-)
And yes, Oli was absolutely amazing !
Man, That Aston 177 is one sexy car. Loved hearing it fire up
I was so lucky to be there early enough to see it unloading :-)
Enjoyed that Pete. I'm surprised none of the other RUclipsrs I follow didn't attend this event. Great footage👍👌
Too exclusive for them ;-)
Petrol Ped lol....get you lol lol
Awesome video! Some truly incredible car there, that One-77 is gorgeous. Got some great drone shots in this one and we'll done on the 160mph, that takes a lot 'o balls! Amazing stuff once again, the 10k is closing up on you 😉
Cheers Buddy. Had to get the drone up ! The One77 was beautiful :-)
Was surprised at how easily some of the other cars pulled away from the Caterham as I thought this model was compatible with most things on the road? Great video mate, must have been really special with Ollie behind the wheel!

Thank you for that video Mr Ped. Appreciate the effort you put into these videos. Keep it up please.
My pleasure Ray. It's a tough job but someone has to do it !
Mega! That looks like a giant bag full of fun.
It sure was !
Brilliant video gutted for you about the in car mic mate. Ollie had that thing sideways nearly lol!!
I think I recovered OK but when I got home and checked my footage I nearly cried !!! Oli was AWESOME !
Petrol Ped I don't blame you! That feeling of excitement knowing you've had one of the best times of your life and you almost came wait to get home to edit the video to realise your missing parts :( still a brilliant video mate :)

Cheers Buddy, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Nice!Well done! That Zenvo is a work of art! But you can`t beat a little Caterham for (relatively cheap) adrenaline packed fun
Oh yes :-)
Great vlog thanks. Love the sound of the 1 to 1 😀
I'm just chuffed the mic picked it up and did it justice !
The no chatter was the best part of the video.
Another great vlog and the racing driver in it was fantastic but for me the car is like a motorbike yeah wow
Oh yes 👍
Thanks for calling out my 675LT Spider chap - hadn't seen this vid before now :)
No worries!
@@PetrolPed If you ever need a go in it let me know

I'd love to hit the 200 mph mark...just for bragging rights !
Brilliant loved that I used to race at Bruntingthorpe many years ago it's fantastic venue . I could keep up for the first bit to 60-80 but then aero took over !
That was a good Vmax200. Excellent coverage and great video.
It sure was. A day I will remember for a long time :-)
Brilliant mate, loved every second. Subscribed.
Welcome to the channel. Have a look round, I've done some great stuff since this vid 👍
So ,what were the times!.who was the fastest 0 to 60 and top mph please.
Respect Peter, and thanks for another brilliant vid :)
The 620R IS AWESOME !! .
I bet Oli's run all the way round was the fastest of the day, you were shifting!! 👍
You are probably right. I struggled to keep up with stuff in a straight line but I can't see many people keeping up with a Le Mans driver taking a 620R to the edge through the corners ;-)

Awsome video, out of interest how much does the vmax event cost to enter
If you Google VMax200 there are all the details on the website. It's about 400 quid.
Yeah I'm not sure who was more happy to see who, you meeting pro race driver, or pro race driver meeting random man who lets him have a go in his 620R lololol.
That’s what motorsports is all about.

ty for letting me know. My dream car is a Caterham :)
Absolutely crazy doing those speeds without a full cage.
There was a Tesla Model S P100D giving it a go :-)
just wondering if you or anyone knows how hot the brakes get on track day for Caterham? I know some brakes get super hot but they are on cars that weigh like 4 times a Caterham

The Astons do sound lovely, and 160 was bloody frightening ;-)
I can imagine it was a real rush to drive it. Sadly video cameras don’t give a great sense of speed.
I was buzzing for a good while after, but I didn't try to beat it as I didn't want to push my luck !
160mph in a Caterham is f'ing mental! Fair play m8
😜😂
Cracking video, that Huayra looked stunning in that colour scheme, the one:1 is a beast, and the Enzo just gets better and better with age, didn’t really like the looks when it first came out, but now it looks futuristic compared to a lot of the current stuff, which other than a few exceptions all look a bit dull. Pete, please come to Beverley, and let me buy you a beer. You are a legend my friend.
+Andrew Frost I'd love that 👍
Normal day on the Autobahn 🤣
Or should I say night
Would love to see how a Radical 600R would do at an event like this.
Nice video!!! cheers from Canada
No worries. Hello Canada :-)
Bugger she goes fella. Nice vid. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
She sure does !
What would Colin Chapman have said if he knew the car he designed in the 1950's would one day do 160 mph?
Mega chuffed probably !
Tom it isn’t about the top speed on this car it’s about the crazy 0-60 time and the driving experience, a Jaguar f type can do 200mph
You need a series of decreasing radius turns to show off the 7's real Forte @
160 is mighty quick in a seven :D
Oh yes...not sure I'd want to do it again !
It feels so much faster when its an open cockpit
Oh yes !
Really interesting dialog, many thanks
My pleasure :-)
Very good video and clearly the 620r is ballistic but it does seem to get nailed by every car you are up against
Tricky to get off the line and then it has all the aerodynamics of a house brick 😂
The One:1 weighs 1435 kg is similar amount of horsepower. If I am not mistaken. It is approximately one gigawatt.
Yep, I got my numbers wrong !
Cool video
Cheers :-)
Flipping 'eck!!! Awesome!
Congrats on the 160mph chap but the stats on the Koenigsegg One:1 are slightly out...
The factory numbers at launch were 1360hp and with a weight of 1360kgs.
+TheBHPProject Thanks for the correction. I knew I'd get it wrong 😂
+TheBHPProject At least I got the power to weight correct...well nearly 😜
Pete, have you seen the video of this car being driven at this years FOS? Utter hoonage!!!
Oh yes...bloody heroic !

How did it lose to the m6 though. I thought it veyron fast
It is until aerodynamics takes over 😂

Did my lorry artic rollover and ABS training here
WOW didn't know u r running sequential dogbox under ur 620
Yep...awesome when driving fast, not so great around town !
Wow that’s awesome 😱
Still can't believe I got to do it !
Petrol Ped yeah amazing 😮👌
I would have needed a brown fire suit.
I needed to clean mine ;-)
Nice :) actually the 'egg 1:1 weighs about 1.3 tons and has just over 1300bhp.
+stubones Oops...my bad 😬
Still don't know where the shift points are? Why does that throw you so? When Ollie drove it, when he shifted, his revs dropped to above the point at which you were changing up to the next gear. I can't fathom it.
Amazed you you tell that from the video !
Zenvo heaven Pete!!!
Oh yes !
Nice 👍🏻
Cheers :-)
Sweet
Are you a TVR fan ?
Yep, I'd love a Sagaris !
Speedo indicated 160 so probably about 150 true speed.
Somebody get a Lotus 11 body for the Caterham .
you realize a ton is 2000 rite. for the konesegg to be 1-1 it can only weigh 1000 half a ton
I know it got my numbers wrong :-(
Up to about 70 and the world comes past.
Not really the caterhams preferred testing ground with aerodynamics of a house brick is it ?
Nope. Even grunt can’t overcome aero 😢
Its funny how the Listed top speed of this car is only 155
Not the first time a number stated by a manufacturer is wrong 🤔
that guy has no case for his phone lol why do people not buy cases?!?
I wish they sold the Caterham in America.. America be trippin man..If it's really the land of the free then why cant we have Caterham's?..ugh....Great video tho B)
No way. Not enough safety aids I suspect ?!
I like you. You're the total opposite to Archie Hamilton 🤗😂
+L4WNY Now that has got to be a good thing 😜😂
A half million dollar car vs a 620 R . I'll take te Aston and sell it and by a half dozen Caterhams
Was enjoying this until the horrible, ear splitting "music" started. Can't we hear the engine song instead?
+Tom Strutt Sadly Tom, all you would have heard was wind rush in the microphone and that sounded far worse 😜😂
Thanks for your response but the music actually hurt my ears.
Tom Strutt Stop carrying on like a women, the music didn’t physically hurt your ears you hypochondriac, the video had a good balance of engine audio and back ground music
Drone Wild well said, or in other words tom strutt is a massive pussy and can't handle loud noises
Blown away by a M6. Lol.
620R!
why, while you are enjoying fine (very) high performance cars are you calling it "insane" and "bonkers", etc.?
apparently, you have never spent time on modern 1000cc sportbikes. get yourself one or more and return. all of a sudden, cars costing 10 times as much seem, well, not so insane anymore!
I know compared to a modern superbike you might even consider it to be tame !!
thanks for responding. i like your videos. as you might have figured, i have been enjoying 1000cc sportbikes and for a long time. i got my first one soon after college in the 70's and the ones now really are race machines on the street. that's why anyone with one should do track days to begin to appreciate them. the handling, stability at speed and power are addicting. few things are such a rush and generally affordable than coming around a turn on the track, still leaning over, rolling on the power and wheeling out of the turn before straightening up. no car can come close this exhilaration! try it!
