About 2 Meter Sessions
====================
Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zeeland band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

Came from the future2034 to tell you he also sang for a few guns n roses songs.
But yeah take notes
Emotion and feeling
Awesome sessions!!!
dood was amazing
did you take down the other video of this that didnt have the beginning cut off?
Did Blind Melon perform "Change" during these sessions; is there a link? 🙂
People write a lot about the 90's singers that passed away like Cobain, Staley, Cornell or Weiland, and rightfully so. However Hoon deserves to be mentioned up there with the others... RIP
Your comment is great.!! I absolutely agree, and for some reason I have been digging into the blind melon history lately. His voice on this song was hypnotic. Maybe that's just me, but it seems to be correct. Anyways love your comment.
@@pisceandreams5893 Thanks buddy! He really was a phenomenal singer.
Comparing this dude with Cornell is the greatest idiocy I have ever read. He's not worthy of shinning Cornell's shoes!
@ you missed his point he never said he was as good as The Grunge singers he just got mad and he passed on in the 90s they both are great singers just different styles of music it's all your opinion of what kind of music you like some people would hate our style of music and say that we suck but that's their opinion I personally love Grunge and all of the singers just thought you might want to know he's not saying that he is as good as your favorite singer just that he passed on in the 90s and should be remembered
Mmmm I’m pretty sure he is always mentioned amongst these other stars...
Shannon Hoon was the link between 90s grunge and 60s psychedelic rock. That connection was severed when he died and nobody ever really reestablished it.

Those two eras were like reset's on the commercialization of the industry.
This song always reminded of 1967 Grateful Dead
For those of you who are too young to remember this guy, when this song came out it was HUGE. On the radio ALL DAY. Still an iconic song to this day
I remember and miss the 90's what a great decade and the 80's too 🥲and I remember this song playing on MTV with the lil bee gurl 🥲ah man those were the times!
I missed the 90s by a fuckin inch but thanks to my parents being fresh out of high school when they had me I was raised around a lot of that culture. This song brings me right back to growing up in the early 2000s and I love every second of it! 🤙🏻
The video played probably twice an hour for 3 years on MTV
I remember it being played CONSTANTLY and never getting sick of it... Still gives me goosebumps hearing Shannon's voice.
This video shows just how effortlessly he sings it. I can get close but it takes a LOT of forcing and it's not half as good as his voice
Or remember in the don’t Cry song and video by guns and roses , he sang on the song
No one will ever read this, but this song makes me think about my friend Myke. I haven't seen him in years and unfortunately he is most likely putting a needle in his arm. He was such a bright spirit and musician and this song was always something we jammed. i don't know if I will ever see him again but I hope i do.
i read it my friend & i hope you´ll see your friend someday again
feel sorry for you man, hope you'll see him again someday.
I will read it
If u do see him pls let us know Jim, lots of us read it and hope u guys meet again, hope Myke`s doing ok...cheers
He's doing the best he can just like you are. Hope you guys are reunited in this life.
In '92 I was tending bar late on a Sunday night @ Daddy Warbux in Ybor City, Tampa. Textbook dive bar, nothin' happenin'. "Auto" comes in and asks if I wanna see a band after I close, says his buddy's workin' the door and we can get in for free. I'm in. So we go to the pool 'n' pub, stroll in and the place is EMPTY. It's an old theater with the seats removed and the floor's slanted so all the tables wobble. there's like 5 or 6 people and this band starts playing. They play a whole set without a word because there is no crowd to acknowledge. I'm thinkin,' these guys are pretty good, where's the fans? A few weeks go by and I hear "No Rain" on the radio and the video's a huge hit on Mtv. I instantly recognize the song and surmise that these guys were readying themselves for a tour. Close brush with greatness.
Dan Tierney thanks for taking the time to share! Interesting. Once in a life time right place right time moments
Nice story.
Ybor a shithole back then?
@@wyleeelpuppo4868 not like it is now. Still the gritty drug laden heaven it is now but death was three streets away not next to you at the bar.
Dan Tierney - Cool story. Thanks for sharing!
He was the 90's male Janis Joplin.
RIP Brother, we haven't forgot you and we still love you.
Your comment is great. But I hear that comparison alot from people and I don't know about all that. He never really RIPS loose on a song like Janis Joplin did. He does a little bit and especially on the Woodstock video. I get what your saying and why your saying it,, but I don't know about being next to Joplin.
@@pisceandreams5893 No, his comment is NOT great. It's very stupid actually.
Wtf Janis Joplin? Not even close, I mean, Jim Morrison or Robert Plant were most similar to her

Janis Joplin.. fight me

His vocals seem so effortless! Easily my favourite Blind Melon video.

Good job Shannon?
Every time I see Shannon I think about how someone said that he was a jock in high school. Trying to picture him on the football team is hard for me. Great talent, sad he went away so soon.
:D
Not all Jocks are bullies and meatheads but most midwestern guys wrestled. Try not putting everything in a box and maybe you’ll understand his music a little better too.

@@mdpatterson99999 Little acid and Mescaline helped too. :D
Imagine him with short hair and it’s easy
I love the "ho ho merry Christmas" line. Shannon was having fun improvising while also making the song better at the same time.
best
In one performance of this song he sang "All I can say is Velvet Underground is great"
Hey, MTV kids of the 90's! How lucky were we to live in one of the greatest musical periods in history. A mini flower era. Love my life!
Lucky ??
MTV was the start of the decline of good music !
Appearance became more important than artistic values and freedom !!
FUCK MTV 🤢🤮
Mini flower area, I like that😊
This song is incredibly sad, sang by a smile and upbeat music.
I found it happy-sad
Compassion for the girl who doesn’t fit in with people who don’t understand her…
And then how easy life is when she finds her tribe
He just sings in that extremely hard acute pitch with the same effort he does when breathing, amazing
It makes ones jaw ache and lock up after extended singing.
today is Shannon's Birthday!
Forever missed, You'll always be special to me!
R.I.P
"ho ho ho merry christmas"

Literally made me chuckle
I got a little belly laugh out of it
This looks like it was recorded last year. 90’s has come full circle.
I'm thankful we had Shannon for the short time we did. What a gift to music.
Didn't see your comment before my post. Different words, but same sentiment 🌹
God took Shannon to heaven. Shannon was so young and... so good for being among ordinary people. He was outstanding person. RIP Shannon.
@@gsxrkz With all respect, think you’ll find that although you only know one song, many thousands of people know a lot of their material and have an extensive knowledge of Blind Melon’s back catalogue. Many people may even have watched them perform live, bought their memorabilia and therefore have been slightly upset when he died at such a young age. As such, those same people may have looked up videos of Blind Melon playing on RUclips and written melancholy, wistful comments about Shannon Hoon. Stay safe, wherever you are. And also, have a listen to some of their stuff; it’s pretty good 👍
He had such masterful control of his singing voice
Shannon was an amazing vocalist. What a gift to have.
I grew up loving this song. Never realized how hard it is to sing. And he sang it with so much style. It makes me so sad.
who abandoned his daughter...
Zurich Davis he didn’t really abandon her
I'm a 54 yr old and I keep coming back to these different versions of this song. Absolutely love this kids' way of hanging it out there. A talent that and a really tragedy how the demons ate him up ...
me too. awesome song
Same. Would've liked so much more of his music. Just glad he gave us what he had before he left us🌹
I used to trip acid up in the mountains of Colorado with friends when I was in my early 20s and this song was always an integral part of the trip. such positive vibes when you're peaking and totally out of your mind.
45 here and right there with you. Imagine I'll be saying the same when I hit 55.
He's tripping off his box haha. Memories of the 90s. R. I. P Shannon Hoon. Effortless beautiful voice
I couldn’t put my finger on it how tuned in he was lmfao. Makes perfect sense
It's like a curse on me. The day I discover a great band and a singer and I come across this heart melting comment 😢
I love the way Shannon always improvised and altered his lyrics and vocal melodies in his live sessions so seamlessly and effortlessly. Wonderful singer and a even better musician.
Shannon’s voice is so unique and he was such a great artist. Absolutely one of my favorite singers ever 😁
I don't know who you are Debbie but I think I'm in love with you
My dad smoked weed with Shannon and got to chill with him a few times when they came to St. Louis. My dad would go back stage and chill with some badass people. He said this man was one of the coolest and laid back people he's ever made contact with.
I saw Blind melon in Milton Keynes England 6 months before this was recorded. Supporting Guns n Roses. With The Cult and Soul Asylum. One of the best days of my life. My 16 year old daughter has just got into Blind Mellon. Listen to het play her music its like me as a teen. Hoing back in time. Kind of special. ❤
That would have been the best of my life, also. What a concert it must have been.
I was there too mate
One of the most hypnotizing performances I’ve seen. But man, those lyrics are relatable.
“I just want someone to say to me ‘I’ll always be there when you wake’ and all I can do is read a book to stay awake and it rips my life away but it’s a great escape”
crazy to see how drastically he changed in only 2 years... he seemed so happy here
His eyes looked sober too.....
He was happy clear up until yhe hour of his death with a new baby, just was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Never hear anyone talk about how great his voice is. Just as good as the rest of the grunge guys. Pure talent. Lost too soon.

Blind Melon is one of my all time favorite bands. Soup is a near perfect album, and I like to imagine it's what Zeppelin would have put out in the 90s if they stayed on the same trajectory they were on in the 70s. Shannon's death is a real tragedy.

I get acid flashbacks just seeing this. That tingle of when it comes on strong. The happiness that follows. Damn I miss this time. RIP
tehf00n totally feeling same thing!!! Such a good “trippy” part of my life, my friends dad had 20+ acres in the mountains here in Utah called El-Rancho-Gaviota and the cabin had a big stage built off the side of it and a generator to power all the equipment. All our homies were in bands so once or twice a month we would have a big “ol” rager (kegger) with like 10-15 bands playing all weekend, and they one of our local head shop owners would set up his R.V. With a table w/ a huge bag of shrooms, super kind bud, pipes bongs etc... and another dude we called “Circus” who was a super dead head from the 60’s and always had a bible of the strongest cleanest acid. And after 2-3 a.m. I would dj and would blast this or mouth full of cavities, galaxy and like 40-60 people who were tripping would lay along the cliff and stare up at the crystal clear sky as the music would echo through the canyon. By far the best years of my life!!!! Damn I miss the 90’s !!!!! We still have a blast up there but we’re all older now and not as crazy 😝 but damn what a fucking great time in our lives!!!!!!!👽🥴🤯🥳🤪🎸🥁🎤🎼🎹🎸🌒oh and Pink Floyd!!!🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓

if you only knew what it is to a guitarist to have your voice.
can you explain this comment?
this song is tough to play and sing and Shannon sings real well, is wht I think they mean, as a guitarist myself
Diego Leiva he means he has a naturally unique timbre and very good technique, even if you’re a good guitarist you might not make it in the “big leagues” without something memorable like a voice like that.
He was a decent guitarist too. One of the greatest losses ever. Miss him every day.
