Nice Vid, I'm Surprised Greased Lightning didn't get a try, ive used more Years than Recall, I'm a Fully trained Sprayer Everytime. Customer had a Car Returned , always Supplied a Bottle to them . It also does Glass , Rubber, Trim. As for Cost More Bought Cheaper it came
I’ve used ONR for well over 10 years and highly rate it for many solutions it provides. I recently spent a week in Scotland and hit heavy rain on the drive up. The car was immaculate before and after an ONR wash on arrival, the car was spotless again for the rest of the holiday.
After years of trying all sorts, I've settled on ONR for most light maintenance washes now. 2.5 litres of solution and another bucket with some rinsing water for the wash mitt. I mist some dilute GTechniq C2V3 on as a drying aid before wiping it all off and the results are excellent and it's so quick to do.
I actually use ONR, mainly, diluted way down to around 100-150:1 as a glass cleaner! I have my glass sealed with Angelwax H2GO and I find using this cleans the glass effortlessly but has seemingly ZERO impact on the sealant's properties 👍🏼
Meg’s is my go to product, always in my boot. Yes more expensive, but no detailer in their right mind would wash a whole car with it, but for light dust in between washes it has a great easy spray action, a thick product that gives you confidence it’s encapsulating the dirt and leaves a great shine.
I've been using onr wash and wax exclusively for nearly 5 years on my black truck. She still looks great! Virtually scratch free. Definitely dosen't look swirled in the sun. I love that I can wash in the garage out of the sun. I keep a pump sprayer mixed up with distilled water for a pre spray and use 2 buckets with a microfiber wash kit. I dry with a spray of meguiar's synthetic spray wax and a rag company platinum pluffle towel. I'd reccomend this method to anyone!
Hey i really need your help. Did you wash your drying towel after each time you washed your car? what was your dilution ratio for onr wash and wax? also about the meguiar's synthetic spray wax i don't know which one it is, can you give me a link to it so i know which one you are referring to? Thank you
@@r.k862 I only hung my drying towel to dry and rinsed it ot with the fresh bucket of onr for the next wash. I use 2 cap fulls per approximately 4 gallons. I have switched drying aid to beadmaker now, but either are fine. You can get everything from detailed image or Amazon.
@@jpjp3873 can I know which meguiers synthetic spray wax you used exactly? So after the car wash you completely drenched the drying towel in a fresh bucket of ONR and water to wash it? Was it ONR or was it ONR wash and wax to clean the drying towel?
@@jpjp3873 how can you rinse the drying towel with ONR then use it on cars paint? Can you please elaborate Also which meguiers ceramic spray wax was it exactly?
I even used the Meguiar's one after a 1600km drive to clean my car on a camping site and it did one hell of a great job, without ruining the paint as some would fear.
In the states, we have a product called Wolfgang Uber Rinceless Wash. It is very similar to ONR, which I also have in my garage. I find myself reaching for the Uber Wash more than ORN. Uber seems to leave a slicker and glossier surface than ORN. Both are great products, but Uber seems to leave something behind that ORN does not. However, to your point, if I am following up with a protection product after a rinceless wash, I will reach for the ONR for sure.
ONR is my go to for cleaning door shuts & safely removing bird crap. Fantastic product. Makes a good quick detailer for the interior of the car as well.
I'm trying an experiment today. My car is dirty but not filthy. I'm planning to mix up ONR in a sprayer as a pre-treat, let it soak, and rinse with a pressure washer.I'm looking to see if the emulsification process carries away more dirt than a rinse alone. So, I tend to use ONR as an adjunct to a regular wash, unless my car just needs a quick once-over. I love the stuff! Great clay lube and cheap as hell. Thanks, Jon! Great stuff as always.
I’ve tried this a few times with the same theory but I think ultimately it is unnecessary. A pre rinse will knock off any contamination that ONR will encapsulate with a pre soak anyway making it a negligible step. Anything that doesn’t come off needs to be mechanically removed with agitation/wiping. My process if I think the car needs to be rinsed would be rinse first, then pre-treat.
Agreed - it's so refreshing to see actual *damage* being done to a panel. Suggestion: do some tests to determine what *actual* "protection" various coatings & waxes provide. I.e - we have so many chemical resistance tests, where the presence or absence of water beading indicates whether there is any "protection" on the panel - but what protection is ACTUALLY being provided?
I've used ONR Wash n Wax for 5 years on my Flash Red Polo GTi from new. The paintwork still looks amazing with minimal swirls. Love how easy it is to buff off and the gloss it leaves due to the added wax. Also used as a clay lube before polishing. Off topic it works amazing getting the glass doors on your shower crystal clear 🤣. The thought of breaking out all the pressure washer gear and buckets plus the time spend drying using the normal wash method fills me with dread now. Fantastic product.
I was under the impression that rinseless means that you can use it in a bucket and wash your car like you normally would but without hosing it down and waterless means you can use it in a spray bottle to spray the panels and wipe. Nevertheless, what I’ve learned from rinseless washing my cars for over a year since I live in a flat: - Having protection on the car, any kind, the slicker the better, minimizes the risk of damaging the paint and makes the cleaning easier and more enjoyable. I recently ceramic coated my car, removed the protection and used ONR before polishing; without any protection on the car it was a pain to dry or wipe - ONR is great at lifting up dirt, this test proves it and it leaves no streaking - ONR Wash and Wax is my new favorite since it bumps up the gloss and adds a sacrificial layer of protection - Ech2o leaves the best protection out of all of them but it’s harder to use on hot panels or sunny days since it needs to be buffed off or it leaves high spots Cheers!
ONR is such an amazing product. Would be near the top of my list if I was restricted with space and had to reduce my product range. I personally think it leaves a glossy finish.. and don't forget the old trick of adding a dash to your wash bucket when performing a conventional wash to make the water "shimmery".
As a goof I mixed Ech20 with ceramic refresh and cut it with alcohol and it made a pretty wicked wash/wax that flashes well and under LED leaves no marks.
Ech2o mixed 1:1:20 with reload and water makes an awesome detailer and drying aid. CRAZY GLOSS. I use it when Rinseless washing as a drying aid on both ONR and Ech2o. ONR for non ceramic coated cars, ech2o for ceramic coated cars. Simple
@@haroonkhan5933 aids in drying. Adds a bit of shine and protection while adding lubrication to minimise swirls. Basically get a detailer, few sprays on a drying towel and dry.
Yassssss.. ONR for the win. I've always heard other detailer said other rinseless perform better, mostly the issue is that onr doesn't feel as slick as other rinseless brand out there. Time & timd again there's always video come out that shows ONR prevent scratches better than other rinseless wash out there. My local detailer had pictures panels using onr and others brand still, ONR cleans well and prevent scratches better and that has been my experience as well. I like that there's no residue left and the cleaning power (i think the friction u feel washing with onr is the think that makes it clean so well) of onr as good as normal water wash
Great point on the friction encreasing cleaning performance. I use the BRS and it gives an am-az-ing clean. The new formula is a VAST improvement. For drying, I find the better the protection and state of paint, the slicker it works. I had problems with drying towels gripping too much. Clayed, sealed and waxed, now towels glide alot easier over the paint. I even used ONR on cars which were EXTREMELY(!!!!!) dirty. Just a jet wash up front to get the coarser dirt off, and then 4 gallons of ONR with the BRS till it beads again. Usually takes a couple of wipes if a car is extremely dirty. You learn to read what ONR tells you as it's doing it's thing on the paint. Just need to figure out what's the best drying towel to use with ONR. Right now TRC's Double Twistress leaves behind some droplets which don't level out.
@@rheijne95 yes. Plus, with rinseless wash i need only 1 towel (max 2) to dry the whole car. And now still, i still stand by ONR causing less scratching altho its mostly technique, but ONR does have slight edge in preventing scratches.
I hope to see a round #2 of this comparison, let me present Mckee's N914 and Griot's Garage Brillant finish rinseless wash to you. Both are concentrated and both leave NOTHING behind, so for coated cars it's great! These 2 products are absolutely the best and I'm pretty sure when you test them you blown away. The Mckee's N914 is available in a gallon and Griot's Garage Brillant finish RW is a half gallon, very cost effective👍👍
For me, I use ONR with wax for my personal cars. I can wash about 600 cars with ONR mix for about $20.00 (US). WOW! A fantastic money saver. I use Rain X waterless wash to clean windows. I also use the Turtle Wax 3 in 1 detailer about once a month, since my personal cars have the Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic Polish/Wax & Ceramic spray on them. Thanks for your videos!
This is one of the best videos I have watched on RUclips about detailing. So informative and some good humour added in. I use all of the products mentioned except the Meguiars and the Yellow TW wash and wax. Thanks for producing this video.
Invaluable info for anyone who has a car! Clear explanations, honest reviews & clear conclusion. Great value for money product.. so handy for a quick wash on a warm sunny day when a "wet wash" can leave streaks & just as handy in winter when the pressure washer is mothballed.
I knew ONR would win this one, I've been using it for a while now and although it is not a miracle product as you often remind us, it is really good at getting dirt off cars without marring. The cost is negligible when diluted so there is nothing not to like. Thanks for testing them all out!!
yer that sums it up. its not a glamorous tool but exactly like you say it does reduce marring when wiping dirt. And its cheap and can be used for lots of things. when I pay pennies per litre for something and its works its hard to sort of not like it.
@@ForensicDetailing the other thing, having experimented with one or two waterless products, ONR is actually easier in my opinion. OK you have to fill a bucket but there is no buffing - just drying with a decent drying towel. I used the yellow turtle wax product once and it took ages plus I was knackered after using it. Took a serious amount of buffing to get it off.
I bought the last waterless wash and wax in the shop from ALDI for £2.99. I use the ALDI microfibre cloths, around £3 for a pack of four. It is wonderful but get any crud off first with a jetwash or even a soft brush. I have done my car twice and my scooter twice. It has quality wax in it that leaves a great shine that lasts. Avoid tap water for future washes and use rainwater and the shine will stay.
I got some of the turtle wax one on a whim as i've never done a waterless wash before just to have a play really. Blooy hell! I was truly blown away by the reasults, couldnt belive the gloss!
In regards to Ech2o, I've never loved it as a WW. It's okay as a QD, and it's really good as a RW. As a WW it's streaky and takes a bit more effort (As you mentioned) It does look very good on the paint though that's for sure. For my money McKees 37 N-914 is the best Waterless/Rinseless product that I've personally used.
Been using ONR and Wolfgang Uber rinseless for a while but recently tried N914. After about a dozen washes I’m confident it edges both. All 3 are excellent however but for the same $ I’d choose N914.
ONR and Echo2 have permanent locations in my garage, 1 is ONR and 2 Echo2 for when I want a little protection. Living in drought country, i.e. California, I love ONR and use it numerous times every week. The pre made Solutions are virtually worthless in my mind. GREAT JOB JON.
I do find onr does leave things behind I use as as a qd sealant top up for my glass. And it definitely leaves a layer of hydrophobics.. it also says on it's description it leaves behind a polymer layer..
Jon a major factor i have to be very careful of with products like ONR and ECHo2 is that i have "Hard-Water" and if i leave water from the hose on my car it leaves severe water marks, so drying it down after use is critical!
David C I always used distilled water to mix with those two products {and others). At less than a $1 a gallon it is cheap insurance against the above and the risk of add unattended chemicals
Switched to Uber Rinseless over ONR mainly because I find it doesn't release trapped dirt from wash clothes as easily. Otherwise its a good product and easily found.
ONR surely leaves something behind. Mostly quit a bit of gloss, but also some polymer protection, but I wouldn't count on it helping you in any way, just causing a bit of beading. I'd like to try EcH20 at one point.
ONR technically isn’t supposed to leave anything behind. I suppose if it’s not dried/buffed properly you can leave some polymers behind. It’s not really protection as you said like their wash and wax version does.
@@VampireDrip By carrying out a pre wash such as citrus / snow foam that will greatly reduce the amount of dirt on the car. I agree with Andrew, to me using a waterless wash straight away is just rubbing grime straight into the panel.
Hildrey58 if the paint is that dirty than a pre rinse before using a rinseless/waterless wash would be comparable. Not a fan of waterless washes though. I think a better method is to pre-treat/spray the paint with the solution before rinseless washing.
Ive used ONR for such a long time now (years) and its amazing, I have a black car now and its fantastic for leaving it streak free, I think all these seem to overly complicate things for me, I want a quick cleaning solution that leave no streaks, with the others they seem to be trying to be ok at all things and not fantastic at what they are designed for, ONR is just brilliant for cleaning the car regardless of how dirty it get and combined with how quick and easy it is to dry the car it just ticks all the boxes for me, more impressed than ever going from a silver car to a black car (Black BMW E39 540i M-Sport, went back old school from Silver CLK63) and you can see it leaves it clean and streak free leaving time for me to mess about with waxes, detailing sprays or something similar. A question for you Jon, I use Bead Maker after cleaning as it leave the panel so slick but is that what its designed for and is it laying down protection, hopefully you have spare time to read this and reply bud, regardless keep up the fantastic work as I like many on here love you direct unbiassed results as so many have hidden agenda's when pushing products which is fine but with your videos you are just honest about things, maybe we should call you Honest Jon lol
@@brutalbasspro I find it so quick and easy to use the car seldom gets dirty and I cant remember the last time I got all my stuff out to wash, 2 buckets, snow foam cannon, pressure washer lol just seems so much work when you get the same results with 1 bucker, micro fibre mitt and drying towel so I get where you are coming from bud
Thanks for the awesome review! It would be great if you could now do the same test with ONR vs ONRWW, to see if the added wax affects performance at all. I've been using ONRWW for years and absolutely love it but it's recently become unavailable here in Australia! :( (I've Never tried the original ONR)
I have been using ONR since 2011 and have no intention to stop. My cars look sharp after every wash. I am also on a few detailing FB pages and have noticed a few disparaging ONR from former users (this is more common in the US) with the new kid on the block, McKees 37 N-914, as it is promoted by former Optimum spokesman Yvan Lacroix. Not convinced. Same ppl also imply that the Optimum company has been sold and the new owners have changed the formula - again not convinced
For me, meguiar's ultimate wash and wax anywhere & pro version D115 rinse free wash and wax! 👍 In addition, they make good "top coats". To clean ceramic coating, wax, sealant. It revives the incredible water-repellent effect! Rolling pearls 😁
Yes, TW Hybrid 3 in 1 streaks and swirls. Oddly enough TW Ice works fine not only as a detailer but also as a waterless car wash (heavy diesel dust, but not more than light road spray).
I use ONR and ECHO on most of my washes. I use Echo as a drying aid and have no issue with streaking as long as you buff it off while drying. ONR I use sometimes on its own or sometimes I foam cannon with normal soap and dump some ONR in my rinse bucket for extra protections since so cheap. They have a larger gallon bottle which is even cheaper per use.
Jon, been using ONR for a few years now... but ONR Wash & Wax, the green one. In reality, this would probably be a closer match to the other products tested here than regular ONR. Have you used this one and will you review it? Buffs up to a nice shine. Great channel, thanks for all your hard work 👍
Hi Jon, Thanks for the video. I knew from the outset that ONR would take the Prize. I recently purchased a Gallon drum. Also Jon, where do you get that nifty dispenser thingy on the ONR bottle ??
I love using ONR but not for washing. Clay lube and QD everytime I will pick ONR for the job. I don’t live in a city where are water usage restrictions.
@@bfielder9097 totally agreed - I tried diluting it down lower than recommended, but it was still too streaky. I've stopped using it. I'm actually currently using plain water for my "waterless" washing 🤣, but I wax often, using Megs Synthetic Xpress Wax. I wash VERY frequently, because I'm a chauffeur.
At what concentration did you use ONR in this test? I always thought it wasn’t supposed to be used waterless (that job would be delegated to Opti-Clean) but I’m impressed with the results!
YES !!!👍 I picked up the McGuires today I tried the Rain-X which you don't review although The Rain-X did a very very nice high gloss polish beautiful on my pearl white paint F-150 but getting it on the trim the windows -streaking problems and the time to get the streaks out is frustrating time consuming .... Been using McGuire's for years on my Nittos All terrain Hot tire shine I should have known💡 Thankyou - cheers !! 🇺🇸
I like the Ech20. Its really slick. If your having dry/hazing issues i would water it down some more myself. I always use it in my garage though so i never have a problem personally
Really good video this one. It would have been nice to have added another rinseless wash to the mix, namely Chemical Guys Rinse Free Eco Wash, but I loved the superb analogy at the end. Great stuff!
Bilt Hamber Laboratories Auto QD watered down 10:1 makes a great dirt-encapsulating waterless wash with plenty of lubricity for claying as well. It buffs off very nice when used as a drying aid and leaves about 2 weeks of hydrophobididididity. It's a very underrated quick detailer.
I usuallu use these spray waxes to remove stubborn dirt on the spot "Even bird poop". I tried TW waterless wash & wax and it took a hell of a lot of product. I'm used to Sonax High speed wax or Brilliant shine which is very good in terms of quantity. You only need a small amount to reach the desired results. But, the problem with them is that they are streaky, especially the high speed wax. Nice video and I think I'll start trying CarPro products. Have seen them quite frequently recently while shopping. Nice video.
I like to use a 256:1 dilution ratio of ONR to the wash solution in my bucket for the contact wash, for lubricity and water softening. Also, I like to use the ONR at the same dilution ratio in the pre rinse that I spray on the car prior to anything else.
I dont see how any one can think doing a rinseless or waterless wash wont scratch or mar the paint. After 10x the paint will look like trash IMO. Had a guy whose car I was doing and he told me he always used a rinseless solution like ONR and had flawless paint - he was blind and never looked at it in the proper lighting. The hood was scratched to hell. I think some people think convenience is king and ignore the true condition of the paint to suit their taste. If dirt, dust and grime are on the paint, you cant run a towel over it and not expect marring. To keep paint in good condition it takes a lot of work and preparation and the last thing I would do it mist something on a dirty car and start wiping. Anyways, love your channel. You have helped me immensely as a detailer so no criticism on my part, just voicing my opinion.
ONR in itself isn't more dangerous than soap, it's better than soap but a pre wash no matter what you use is always king beforehand. Rinseless means you don't rinse afterwards.. You can still prewash anytime you'd like. Get as much shit off the car before handwashing is always the goal, doesn't matter if it's soap or rinseless.
Been using British made Prokleen Waterless Wash for years and it's a great product. Super cheap when bought in bulk. Can be foamed as well which is a lot safer way to use it.
This might end up an unpopular comment but hear me out. I use Williams waterless wash and wax. Not for the waterless wash but for the wax. It has a high amount of carnuba wax. I wash the car as normal with the bilt hamber and then dry. Squirt the Williams on, give it a rub and a buff and it works great for me. Gives a great warm shine to the car and I can use it on my wetroom tiles too lol. Seriously tho, I keep going back to it. Never buy it at full price though, always get it when there’s a deal on.
Jon, great video as usual! I wasn't offended by the "uncivilized parts of the world" comment and yes, it applies to me as I live in Chicagoland and travel through the southside of Chicago everyday...I'm still here🤞
A much needed review for this year's hose pipe ban of 2022. I love you passion for metric and our friends in imperial. However, it is pure harmony you speak. Why, ????? Well tyres are ironically sold in America and in the world in ...,.metric/metric Rinches. I've only just noticed🤔
lots have been asking for this. I barely have enough time to do the tests and make the videos, or lets say its a lot of work just to keep the channel going, I have the time. but I do need to pause and go back and collate all my tests and host it on a website or something. I will try and do something on this.
@@ForensicDetailing The way you do it is great. Time is precious. Thank you for all the time you take to do it. Keep up the good work and don't change a think. Thanks again.
Another rinseless product available in the "uncivilized world" is IUDJ. It takes 2 caps in a 32 oz spray bottle and 1 cap in gallon wash bucket. Price works out slightly less expensive than ONR.
Just bought Megs Waterless Wash, keen to see how it performs in the video. I enjoyed it on my car the other day, very pleasant smell too. Pricey though
Paul Widner I’ve actually heard them say the opposite. That nothing is left behind. I suppose you surely can leave some polymers behind if it is not wiped clean though.
@@muckeyn not to get in a back and forth but in the old podcasts and Optimum forums state that the polymers are left behind regardless. This in part is why a panel prep is needed before applying a coating. Other rinesless washes don't require a panel prep
Yeah I just purchased ONR & I really like the protection & it leaves no streaking, now I also have ech 20 which leaves slight streaking so onr is my favorite
I don't WW/RW but I do own some Ech2o. I like to put a few ml in with my BH Auto Wash to make an even slicker product. I am not using SiO2 on the car at the moment but don't worry about the microscopic bit I'm laying down. If I'm going to polish the car, I wash with Chemical Guys Clean Slate and don't use the Ech2o.
ONR at detail spray solution certainly does gloss a panel and definitely leaves something behind. Yvan Lacroix mentions this in a few videos when talking about letting ONR dry, allowing it to reactivate on the next wash. Whether what’s left behind is substantial enough to cause issues with any other detailing process is another story.
Be a good companion if doing this in the future to add McKees 914 and P&S Absolute. McKees being a surfactant base and Absolute a polymer base like the ONR. Interestingly Yvans company DIY rinseless is a combination of both Polymer and Surfactant. Pre mix is good if you are traveling and need to grab something quick. I keep ONR in the truck at 1:128 clay strength to spray my lower panels before the wash since they have more debris and it does appear to loosen up the dirt.
Rain X's version is only 7$ a bottle and got product of the year award if that matters but I use it and it's really good stuff worth getting honestly and I Detail for a living.
I have been using the rainx waterless for over a year. It leaves a very glossy protection that lasts even up to a month. I use a damp microfiber when applying it though, because our humid weather makes applying it cause streaks and doing this gives a clean finish.
Wolfgang Uber is good stuff. It’s slicker and has some gloss enhancers so it feels more lubricating than ONR. I think both are great however I prefer ONR if you are using some protection or drying aid afterwards as some can get streaky/smeary with Wolfgang. Another product that is great is mckees N914. Has the slickness (feel) of Wolfgang without gloss enhancers but wipes as clean as ONR. There is even a dilution as a panel prep.
Love the channel and the content. Please keep it up. It would be great to see some brand range review videos if possible very interested to see them for car-chem, Autofinesse, carpro etc
I will only do brand reviews if a brand is offering you something unique and beyond what Ive already recomended Dan. Its a balancing act and there is no right or wrong, lots like yourself want to see more product content. But Im choosing the heavily restrict this. But I do take note of this comment dan and it gets me thinking. thank you
Forensic Detailing Channel 100% it’s your channel at the end of the day. Just an idea. I’m sure with the following you have getting samples for a big brand review wouldn’t be an issue. I’m enjoying the content regardless 👌👍
John, have you ever considered Greased Lightning? Not your off the shelf number but i have used it regularly for years now and swear by it for those in between full washes. Admittedly i use it when my car has got a base level of dirt/dust on it. Even I was dubious until the recommendè proved its worth on his beloved M3....! Also, very strange catching glimpses of the new black Beamer instead of the normal Red Peril in the background. ☺️🤣
Forensic Detailing Channel No worries mate. Cheers for your reply. Give it a go if you have time, even if not for the channels but for your own try. Loving the channel mate, as always keep up the good work mate. Im in the Military and Theres 2 things i look forward to when ive been away, one, detailing my car and two catching up with your channels 👍🏼 .......oh and obviously seeing the wife and kids as well 😂😂😂
Meguiars is the best in lubricity. I didn't feel lubricity in ONR. Ech2o is a very bad product, because have zero lubricity. If you try Ech2o has a claylube, you feel that: zero lubricity.
I literally just chuck some wash and wax in a spray bottle, add water, soak a panel, and "pull" the cloth over using its own weight. then buff (only in the weeks following a wax) i find all this stuff gimmicky tbh. Cheap "Simoniz" wash and wax Autoglym super resin polish, (also soaks into trim and makes it pop if buffed off right) Topped with fusso soft 99, Recommended by you (also trying B&H soon as well, thanks) I keep my "BLACK" e90 (that is COVERED in white scratches) looking more moist and clean than grannies chin at a Xmas dinner.
I use FEYNLAB PURE RINSELESS, 1:250. It is a superb cleaner, as a rinseless and waterless wash. It leaves nothing behind so you apply your own wax/protection product. I would say that ONR would struggle to outperform it. Wolfang rinseless wash( used as a waterless wash) is also very good.
An overpriced one that I regretted buying is the Griot's Garage Rinseless Wash (there's a version with wax in it too). Completely overpriced and no improvements over ONR, other than it smelled nicer. Used up the bottle and went back to ONR.
Jon something i would be curious of is how do these perform on a hot panel? Seems like something the average joe would do, and not to fault them because they dont know any better...they just go to the local car parts shop, pick up a bottle of ready made and use it....hats off for a fantastic review.
Cold can be a problem. If you're in your 30F garage it is difficult to get them to flash off. When it's hot, just do a little panel at a time and don't get to far ahead of yourself.
I've used everything you reviewed except for the adams and carpro. My go to is ONR as it leaves my car looking reasonable and access to an external hose is difficult where I live. Leaves the car looking good and before now have diluted it into a detailing spray. I tend to use megs ultimate waterless if there is a bird bomb or something I need to clean off quickly, have used it in the past for the full car and find it only does 2 cars (large saloon size) I've recently started also using Bilt Hamber Auto QD diluted 20 to 1 as a waterless wash and seems to work well, any thoughts Jon?
The ready to use waterless washes or truly waterless either. You know there's water in those products. That's why buying a concentrate makes sense so you're not paying for so much water.
While ech2o is my favourite WW over the years but recently I have begun liking Feynlab pure rinseless (1:200 for waterless). Very slick and 1:200 ratio vs 1:20 of ech2o.
Fantastic test Jon!, always knew these cause a level of scratching but I understand in some countries they have no choice. Question with ONR for you, I used as a clay lube the other day at 65-1 and it wasn’t slick at all, rather the opposite , would using distilled water that’s already been previously opened cause any issues over tap water?, I’ve heard that using distilled water that has been opened goes quite acidic, would this affect its use with ONR?
Hi there, only just found this video and found it very informative 🙂 question if you don't mind.... how and with what do you clean all the microfiber wash cloths.?
You're an amazing detailer for giving the in depth knowledge of every product in detailing!! , im waiting for your video on tw seal n shine improved vs tw hybrid ceramic spray, hope thats there in upcoming list
I recently bought a car second hand that had been coated with Shelby ceramic. I wash with their shampoo and finish with their QD. It’s lovely. Sometimes, I want a quick waterless option. The Shelby product is another £16. This ONR that doesn’t leave anything behind… is that safe to use over my ceramic coat, or will it potentially damage it with whatever detergent is in it?
You English seem fine when the ounces come in a Pint at the pub😃 Gallon is easy. It’s 16 base like a computer. One gallon or 4 quarts or 8 pints or 16 cups. Very simple. I do like the 5 liter size of bilt HAMBLER which I bought after seeing your companion. Gonna last me a long time.

I’ve used ONR for well over 10 years and highly rate it for many solutions it provides. I recently spent a week in Scotland and hit heavy rain on the drive up. The car was immaculate before and after an ONR wash on arrival, the car was spotless again for the rest of the holiday.
Do you still use ONR ?
After years of trying all sorts, I've settled on ONR for most light maintenance washes now. 2.5 litres of solution and another bucket with some rinsing water for the wash mitt. I mist some dilute GTechniq C2V3 on as a drying aid before wiping it all off and the results are excellent and it's so quick to do.
Great video with awesome in depth comparisons. Saves me tons of money watching you. The value in this channel is immense.
I'm no detailer so The Meg's I'll wash the whole car with. 😂😂 In between the soap and water spray downs at the Self service of course
Good test with the acrylic. It would be good referens to see how a wash mitt and traditional soap scratches the acrylic.
@@jpjp3873 hi can you please reply to my previous comment if you can
@@jpjp3873 how can you rinse the drying towel with ONR then use it on cars paint? Can you please elaborate
Also which meguiers ceramic spray wax was it exactly?
Makes a good quick detailer for the interior of the car as well.
cheers brian, its great isnt it.
Great stuff as always.
let me know how you get on Erik. thank you for the great comments once more.
Fantastic review effort Jon! The Acrylic panel was genius! Well done!!!
Do you still use ONR ?
@@tt-rs1457 if I can get it . Also use P n S Absolute which is great too.
I love ONR, rarely break out the pressure washer now, so convenient
Using ONR as a rinseless solution, clay lubricant and quick detailer, lovely product, easy to use and versatile.
I was under the impression that rinseless means that you can use it in a bucket and wash your car like you normally would but without hosing it down and waterless means you can use it in a spray bottle to spray the panels and wipe. Nevertheless, what I’ve learned from rinseless washing my cars for over a year since I live in a flat:
- Having protection on the car, any kind, the slicker the better, minimizes the risk of damaging the paint and makes the cleaning easier and more enjoyable. I recently ceramic coated my car, removed the protection and used ONR before polishing; without any protection on the car it was a pain to dry or wipe
- ONR is great at lifting up dirt, this test proves it and it leaves no streaking
- ONR Wash and Wax is my new favorite since it bumps up the gloss and adds a sacrificial layer of protection
- Ech2o leaves the best protection out of all of them but it’s harder to use on hot panels or sunny days since it needs to be buffed off or it leaves high spots
Cheers!
yes that explanation of rinseless and waterless is how I understand it as well.
Simple
So 1 part ech20, 1 part reload and 20 parts water?
@@thibaultjacqueloot87 yes. Some do 1echo 2reload. Have a play. Depends on paint and water hardness etc
What is a drying aid?
@@haroonkhan5933 aids in drying. Adds a bit of shine and protection while adding lubrication to minimise swirls. Basically get a detailer, few sprays on a drying towel and dry.
@@charlesbardforth6738 I get you bro, will try it :D
How does the Griots compare to N914? I love N914 and think it edges ONR a bit.
Hey I also use Rain X Waterless Car Wash on my window glass. Not for body panels, streaks. Although it will take road splash and spray off safely.
This is one of the best videos I have watched on RUclips about detailing. So informative and some good humour added in. I use all of the products mentioned except the Meguiars and the Yellow TW wash and wax. Thanks for producing this video.
very kind words Mark thanks for that.
Invaluable info for anyone who has a car! Clear explanations, honest reviews & clear conclusion. Great value for money product.. so handy for a quick wash on a warm sunny day when a "wet wash" can leave streaks & just as handy in winter when the pressure washer is mothballed.
thank you david
I leave some ONR mixed down in a spray bottle in the boot ready for bird bombs

I just can't get my head around waterless washes. Buffing grit into the panel just seems wrong.
A
I'm a huge fan of rinsless washes. I mainly use waterless for when it rain and leave some water spots or dust.

In addition, they make good "top coats".

I would love to see a review on the EZ gloss boss ! Discovered this new product and it certainly preforms well ! A must try
Opti-Clean is way too often forgotten how good it is! Use it in winter as a pre-spray.
Opti Clean does a great job of cleaning, but using it on it's own as a waterless wash it's soo streaky. To the point that it's unusable for me.
I'm thinking around 1:64 roughly

I like the Ech20. Its really slick.
If your having dry/hazing issues i would water it down some more myself. I always use it in my garage though so i never have a problem personally
I use Echo2 but only for spot cleaning. Used ONR for years and loved it. But I have Carpro coating on now
Really good video this one. It would have been nice to have added another rinseless wash to the mix, namely Chemical Guys Rinse Free Eco Wash, but I loved the superb analogy at the end. Great stuff!
thank you gordon
I buy the yellow bottle Turtle Wax product 20L at a time. It's great as a waterless wash or when diluted it makes a excellent rinseless wash too.
ONR is the best and probably the cheapest. The others were ridiculously expensive except for the ECO
It's safer than shampoo in a bucket. But not safer than full prewash wash method
Never buy it at full price though, always get it when there’s a deal on.
nothing unpopular about this mate. if it works it works.

ONR always leaves some sort of layer for me. Beading is noticeably worse until it has rained a few times.
Right, it leaves polymers behind per Optimum.
Whether what’s left behind is substantial enough to cause issues with any other detailing process is another story.
ive heard Yvan say it doesnt leave anything behind if you buff it. but could be wrong, I would be interested to know.
I keep ONR in the truck at 1:128 clay strength to spray my lower panels before the wash since they have more debris and it does appear to loosen up the dirt.
and thaTs why i love car pro concentrates!
I just had my car ceramic coated and I would be leery about using this method to clean it.

Great video. Have you tried Wolfgang Uber rinseless wash? I think it is super slick and leaves behind great shine.

Meguiars is the best in lubricity. I didn't feel lubricity in ONR. Ech2o is a very bad product, because have zero lubricity. If you try Ech2o has a claylube, you feel that: zero lubricity.
Ech2o is great as a drying aid, as you say due to its cheap price.
I literally just chuck some wash and wax in a spray bottle, add water, soak a panel, and "pull" the cloth over using its own weight. then buff (only in the weeks following a wax) i find all this stuff gimmicky tbh.
Cheap "Simoniz" wash and wax
Autoglym super resin polish, (also soaks into trim and makes it pop if buffed off right)
Topped with fusso soft 99, Recommended by you (also trying B&H soon as well, thanks)
I keep my "BLACK" e90 (that is COVERED in white scratches) looking more moist and clean than grannies chin at a Xmas dinner.
I use FEYNLAB PURE RINSELESS, 1:250. It is a superb cleaner, as a rinseless and waterless wash. It leaves nothing behind so you apply your own wax/protection product. I would say that ONR would struggle to outperform it. Wolfang rinseless wash( used as a waterless wash) is also very good.
how do you know it is a good cleaner
@@r.k862 I know it cleans because I have used it a number of times on my cars with great results.
@@hondacar Is there test videos for me to look at?
Thanks for explaining ONR. I’ll try it.
Seems like something the average joe would do, and not to fault them because they dont know any better...they just go to the local car parts shop, pick up a bottle of ready made and use it....hats off for a fantastic review.
the megs is best in the heat. followed by ONR i think. I really like the megs product just not the price.
Might have to choose one if the drought hits. Local council usually bans hose pipes and pressure washers.
The ready to use waterless washes or truly waterless either. You know there's water in those products. That's why buying a concentrate makes sense so you're not paying for so much water.
While ech2o is my favourite WW over the years but recently I have begun liking Feynlab pure rinseless (1:200 for waterless). Very slick and 1:200 ratio vs 1:20 of ech2o.
last time I tried to get on feynlab website pc told me there was a virus
.. 😅
Fantastic test Jon!, always knew these cause a level of scratching but I understand in some countries they have no choice.
Question with ONR for you, I used as a clay lube the other day at 65-1 and it wasn’t slick at all, rather the opposite , would using distilled water that’s already been previously opened cause any issues over tap water?, I’ve heard that using distilled water that has been opened goes quite acidic, would this affect its use with ONR?
so its just not that slippy. but it will help mate. some just use water. I dont think its your water thats the problem. but Im not 100% sure mate.
Gotta try that new mckees 37 ceramic series rinseless wash.
I only use ONR, I dont like it to trow my 💷 away.
Love P&S Paint gloss for a quick dusting.
