Steve, I’m not even in the market for this shoe at all, but I love the reviews and love learning about shoe design and tech. You’re the best at these concise, well rounded reviews.
Thanks for posting this. When you say “there are images going around the internet,” where are you finding that? This is seriously the only Timp 5 update I’ve seen anywhere.
Agreed on the balance between road and trail. The sole isn't grippy enough for full-on trails and steep hills, but it's perfect for flatter less technical trails. I ran the AT portion of the JFK50 in the Timp 4, but changed to the Outroad (v1) for the rest, which is on a gravel towpath and road. It was perfect. My only wish is for a more subtle colorway, like the gray Outroad v1. I too use the Outroad for a lot of every day stuff, and the gray Outroad v1 just blends in. All the v2 colors look a bit more wild/contrasty.
Thanks for the great review. I’m looking for a shoe I can wear around casually. I’m on my feet all day at work. Trying to decide between the Rivera 2, Torin 7, of Outroad 2. I have a narrow foot so width isn’t an issue. I had the original Outroads and they squeaked all the time which was annoying. I’ve had several previous torins in the past as well. Any thoughts?
I have the altra Olympus 5 and am wanting to get these outroad 2. Should I order the same size as I do for the Olympus 5? I have a 10.5 in the Olympus. What size should I get?
Steve! What Altra shoe would you recommend for mainly road with about 20% light trail that has an original fit? I have hobbit feet and I’m afraid these just won’t be wide enough for me
Looking for a shoe that can take the pounding of 20-50 miles between road and some light trial/dirt/sand while supporting the additional weight of about a 45Lb ruck. These events usually last 12-13 hours... This seems promising. Have tyou had people come in to check running shoes for rucking events?
I was so excited for this last year and again for this update but then the disappointment sank in that they did not come in the med or better yet the classic footshape...not to mention why is it the can not come out with more grey shoes.. not all of us want shoes that ealither are too bright or to white
We also think that Altra should offer more of their models in grey and neutral colors, as well as wide options. The Outroad is great, but could be even better if they offered a wide option!
Do you recommend to go up a full size or a 1/2-size seeing as it’s a ‘slim fit’ model? I have a pair of Torin 6 where I had to go from a size 41 (EU) up to a 42, and worried a 41 in the new outroad might be too snug. Great videos!
Hi. I have the Torin 4 for long distance walking and hiking. They are worn out and I need to upgrade. I hate the tongue on my torin 4! The ball of my foot and heel area are worn out. Would you suggest this shoe or any suggestions? Thank you.
Since you are walking on both road and trail, we recommend trying the Outroad 2. It is designed to be used for both road and off-road runs/walks. If you want something similar to your Torin 4, the new Torin 7 just came out earlier this year, and it has been receiving a lot of love.
I wear the Olympus as my daily work/life shoe I have 4 pairs but the sole sticking to everything is kinda annoying. Would this be a option I should look at.
Great comparison! Thanks for the video. Is the fit as far as sizing goes the same as the first Outroad? I am a full size up on the Outroad, lots of folks reported in reviews going half or a full size up.
Same short sizing. I went a full size up, and the fit feels the same to me. I only have about 40 miles on them, but Altra seems to have addressed the durability issues. We’ll see if I can get too 300.
I was really excited about them, BUT first impression was confusing 🤔 SIZE: you need to go at least! one size up. Sizing is bad and shoe is shallow, so if u don't want to touch upper with thumb, be careful. WIDE: even if Altra call this slim, u would expect it wider than most of the market. Actually they are not as slim as Hoka/Asics, but definitely not wide. In my Salomon Ultra Glides u have more space. Let's see if the bigger size solve these problems 🤷♂️
Yepp, bigger size is much better. BUT - Slim fit model is absolutely nonsense. It's not slim, but the shape si simply not good. Thumb sides of shoes are mostly straight and that has nothing to do with natural shape of foot. It's pushing thumb inside and ruining whole barefoot feeling.

Thanks for watching!
Sooo true!
Watching this from Norway!
Super insightful review, thank you!😃
I work in a shop and on a sawmill and these are amazing. You wake up, put them on, and tackle the day. No matter what.
Love my original Outroads - can't wait to see how these new ones stack up - haha yes I have the funny.
🤣 indeed you do. Thank you for watching!
Love the Outroads. Videos are getting really good!
Thank you for your support!

Good afternoon. Thanks for this information about the Altra 2023. Here is my like. A nice weekend for everyone. 🌤️🏃⛰️
Thanks for watching and for the like! We really appreciate that!
Great review !
Would be awesome to know your thoughts or get a comparison compared to the Hoka challenger ATR 7
I LOVE these preview videos, but I also dislike them (in a good way) because I can't pick up the shoes for a while. Great content, as always!
We appreciate your support!

How was the upper for wet and damp trails?

Bonsoir je veux bien poituure 39 femme ❤️
I certainly would go at least half-size larger. I had version 1 and returned it. I too have the Torin 6 and went up a half-size.
I had to go a full size up from my normal Altra size for the original Outroad. Would you recommend the same for this new version?
Yoh get the answer on 2nd ver?
@@slavasss2189 Nope
Do they have some sort of water resistance?

I’m used to the Rivera, Torin, and Vanish series…. The heel on these looks a bit thin in the mid sole. Do they bottom out for heel strikers easily?

Did you get the answer on ver2? Same short in length as 1st version?

Weird that slim fit for altra also means "short length", beside narrow and shallow.... beware...so many negative comments on 1st version
I had to go a full size up. 😣
Sounds closest to the timp 2 from your review of that shoe 😊
I'd love me a new Timp 2 🤤
@@TDMiller me too!! I got so thrown off with you replying to me here 😂😂

As always with Altra, if it's not the original fit, it's no buy!
Casual shoe for a premium running shoe price 🤔
