Video intended for scientists only! It contains serious content that all civil engineers MUST view before producing any geopolymer cement. I am truly impressed by this incredibly clear and detailed presentation. It is disappointing to see some scientists continue to spread misleading information.

Interesting video. But your point can be challenged at many points. The chemistry of geopolymer is the only point that is not confusing and can be verified by many tests, as it is not NASH/CASH but a polymeric material. The terminology is difficult to deal with as someone will call geopolymer or AAM because both systems use an alkaline solution and solid precursor. Others will say geopolymer is a branded name like LC3 and decide to name their material differently. As long as the chemistry of the material is well defined, that is what matters in my point.
Thank you Ralph, and others, for addressing this issue. I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours "researching" AAM's I thought to be geopolymers. Many hundreds of test mixes. Recently spent a very hot day in Las Vegas mixing actual geopolymers with WH. What an eye opener!
❤ I have followed you guys for years. I'm a layman a programmer. Still, when you guys explain in video after video the difference between Portland cement and Geopolymer, its crystal clear It's not the same. Salt and quicklime is not the same. Different things happen, or forms. It's sad for the environment that the traditional industry will not change.
I came of thinking about this as an, potentially bad, explanation. When swimming in salt water, you get up and you are sticky. Water evaporates and you are just sticky from the salt. Put tiny amount of quicklime in your hand and add water.... something else happens 😂😂😂
Tarde o temprano la verdad siempre sale a la luz. Espero algún día el Novel de química para Joseph y reconocimiento para todo el equipo. Felicitaciones
A perfect explanation that makes it clear how scientists parrot each other without really understanding it themselves. Scientists are just like people, how could that be possible? Perhaps we should also have more respect for the people who used geopolymers thousands of years ago, they were probably much smarter than we think now. It's fantastic that the now elderly Davidovitz discovered this.
We intend to order the 5th edition of your book (Davidovits). Are you aware of if it contains recipes of sprayable geopolymers for roofing and bathroom walls? Thanks.
This is such a very wonderull enlightenment of a opset Davidovitch designed and presents with the inclusive archeology so us layman can also fully indulge, so very enriching, if i win a billion dollars , how can i buy involvement in this awsome field ? this is so bloody interesting. I forget missions to mars over this.
You are professionals for solving the mystery of the Roswell UFO that crashed in 1947. What you call geopolymer was the covering of the spaceship that I could hold in my hands in 1978. ALU and plastic composite, which was said at the time that we on Earth could not make such a material. I'll buy a book from you to learn the technology of making it, because it's not my profession, but I've been very interested ever since, and I am very glad that this knowledge is available today. Even if it all sounds unbelievable.
When making ancient polymers from rock , how is best to incorporate heat robustness and safe conduction in ancient choice stone ,if one wanted to deploy it like crucable ceramic they use for melting today for instance fire clays?Hypothetically , can one build large structure resistant to heat disincorperation and stress fracture, for factory applications at say 700 degrees celsius? ? Can one include conductors and reflectors or does stone crystelisation do diffrent stuff? , scuse my english.
at 15.11... you are mudding the waters here... you cannot say that calcium is not a salt... all ionic compunds are by definition a salt.... a metal ion combined with a non metal ion... CaO... Calcium metal + Oxygen non-metal... it is true that calcium compounds are very slight soluble in water.....maby you wanted to say something different that was lost "as those known in the art" would know... hope you will clarify.. but still very interesting since i work with silicates on a daily basis.
Even if he may have taken shortcuts to clarify this particular point, it does not invalidate the entire demonstration. Calcium is NOT soluble in water. I understand your point, but he is addressing civil engineers, many of them have a very limited understanding of chemistry beyond hydration of Portland cement. Communicating complex polymer chemistry concepts to individuals with minimal knowledge is challenging.
Is it better to pretreat the aluminosilicate mineral for several days with alkaline solution better to activate low reactivity material? Can it be activated by acids (followed by neutralization before curing)?
lot of these scientists tell you you only can use fly ash or slag or some other materials you can never get access to for affordable prices due to big business
Hi, Chatgpt is well aware of Geopolymer Institute and Joseph Davidovitz. Ask Chad: Give me a recipe of geopolymerization for a layman with ingredients I easily can buy Then ask: Does this recipe follow the basics of Geopolymer Institute and is it a geopolymerization Chad also explains that layman recipe will not be as strong or good as the ones you get from the Institute. But it will follow geopolymerization and serves as an example for us n00bs
Are geopolymers “activated” using alkaline materials? Sometimes - but not always. Broken logic = confused public. The Geopolymer community needs to band together and re-brand since the terms make no sense to the public - who ultimately needs to accept the proposed concepts. Watching this continued Geopolymer va AAM waste of effort would be amusing if it wasn’t preventing use of better materials in proper applications.
The Geopolymers Institute's approach to propagating the topic "geopolymers" Vs AAM is not progressive and doesn't help the whole scientific community. You spend so much time on criticizing other scientists rather on working together to achieve a common understanding of the techniques. A house divided can not progress, you are facing lot of opposition from the traditional cement industry already, so stop using derogatory or disrespectful tones and attack attack videos.
I am engineer civil in vietnamese.cement create cao.al2o3.fe203 ... i learn but i don't believe .i don't on factory see process create cement.i think need create new cement .example new material create shell snail, oyster from sea but i don't know it create from chemical...i hope will new research ....😅

And it lasts for more than 15 years.
@@geopolymerMaybe more then 6000 years?

Truly stimulating stuff , more than centrifugally enriched with natural historical mystery.

Thank you so much for clarifying your right there is a lot of misinformation!
Been commenting for years about water glass in the process is not a geopolymer! Its a ceramic. Book mark this video and link it to erroneous media.

You have not watch the video. NOTHING is activated with geopolymers.
lot of these scientists tell you you only can use fly ash or slag or some other materials you can never get access to for affordable prices due to big business
Why can't you show us how to actually make it?

I asked my daughter to buy the package of book and video ❤ from geopolymer Institute
Can magnesium-silicates be geopolymerized? i.e. absestos, talc... not talking about as filler
