Over the last few months I've become a huge fan of this lovely lady. I've had the pleasure of watching all but two of her films since October. I'm trying to get my hands on those two! She was an amazing talent who always gave wonderful performances even when the films themselves weren't all that great. Not only was she stunningly beautiful, but had a delightful way of bringing humanity to every role she played. I own many of her films and have a hard time choosing a favorite. I loved them all!
This was one episode of this show that I wish was in color so I could see Miss Kerr's gorgeous flaming red hair. She was definitely one of the sexiest women of all time.
Deborah Kerr is amazing!! She knows her stuff and is right on with all her answers, but shes still adorable with a hint of shyness! Plus her accent was perfect!! Love her!!
"Absolutely the most phoney thing about me" I've seen this video like thousands of time and I love it! i love Deborah Kerr. The most wonderful and beautiful actress ♥ And I love WML. It's a classic :D
She always seemed to me from what I've seen of her to have been one of the nicest women to ever grace the screen coming out of Hollywood! I bet she was a real joy to know. Just read here that she is now deceased. I didn't know she had died. Hope to see her in Heaven one day. :o)
"Do you work in hollywood?" "Unfortunately yes." Haha she's adorable and absolutely gorgeous!!! Check her out when she was a panelist Lucy Ball was the mystery guest.
Just enjoyed a Deborah Kerr weekend at my house by watching two of my favs "Tea and Sympathy" and "The Grass Is Always Greener." She is absolutely stunning in both. I remember watching this years ago on The Game Show Network. Thanks for posting.
I Love Deborah Kerr! 💕 She became a Religious Catholic Sister later in her life, and when she came to Houston, Texas, I had the honor of meeting her and spending time with her. I think she has passed to heaven now.🙏. Blessings....
Deborah Kerr was the most versatile of any of the movie stars - past or present. She was absolutely amazing in Separate Tables - in which she played a dowdy, repressed young woman - she was not afraid to take those roles. Every gesture, the way she walked and hunched her shoulders... she should have had the Oscar for that performance, as well as for the role of Ida Carmody in Sundowners, for her role as Hannah Jelks in Night of the Iguana, and for Laura in Tea & Sympathy. What a travesty!
Thanks for mentioning "Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison." One of the finest war pictures ever made, and of any genre, really, showing both Mitchum and Kerr at their cinematic height. How many actors out there could have pulled off this two character tour de force with such utter believability and class? Anyone who loves Deborah Kerr, rent this movie and it will be become one your favorites, too. A true film classic.
I think Deborah was always underestimated because she seemed like just another pretty face. But she was much more than that! She was such a fastastic actress! I recently saw The King and I and she is stunning! Gotta love her!
Although Miss Kerr never won an Oscar (and she was nominated many times) the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences did award her a much deserving honorary Oscar. Why do British actresses have such talent, class, beauty and MANNERS! Today's so-called Hollywood celebrities could learn so much from these classy actors/actresses.
She was in so many great movies, but her best work as an actress in my opinion: From Here to Eternity, Black Narcissus, The Night of the Iguana, Separate Tables, Heaven Knows Mr. Allison, The Innocents. Any of them is a good start to explore her diversity and ladylike charisma.
Deborah Kerr is one of the greats. I'm constantly finding her films. I recommend anyone to discover her body of work. Black Narcissus and The Night of the Iguana are top of the pile. Her legend grows.
wow these are so amazing....we as a society have lost something ....what happened ? people were so polite and well mannered .... I do not know the panels names, but the gentlemen who guessed her Identity.....was so gracious about it no silly over sensationalism and crass vulgar fanfares but quiet respect ! thank you to the up loader thank you
"An Affair To Remember" will never go down as a cinema classic; however (and recognizing beauty is in the "eye of the beholder"), there is something about her beauty and femininity in that movie that has been rarely matched on the 'silver screen'.
@jakeenan Beautifully said. I couldn´t have said it better. She was such a fantastic and beautiful women. Inside and out. And a brilliant actress. You really don´t find someone like her that often, especially nowadays. She could show some of today´s actors what acting really means. Love her.
An actress who played upper class ladies (the King and I) and the wife of an itinerant sheep man in Australia (The Sundowners) and carry both off is a real actress
Don't forget some of the supporting players like the incomparable Thelma Ritter who was nominated six times without a win. Your list makes me feel better about the fact that Deborah Kerr never won an Oscar. She's in marvelous company. Geez, Irene Dunne and Myrna Loy were two of the funniest, most sophisticated comedic actresses of their time. I never get tired of watching their films.
Yeah its a true classic....and in the more or less 'two-hander' genre of movies, Heaven Knows, Mr Allison? is right at the top of the pile, for sure. It really does have everything. And so did Deborah Kerr...if I haven't mentioned it enough already. Hahaha
They did provide her an Honorary Oscar when she was in her 80s. She was fragile and wished that the academy staff get off their seats and take the actress by the hand. Except most of the time, they feel they should wait? Ridiculous - they should help our aging stars out of their seat and help them!
She was one of the greats, and her performance in 'From Here to Eternity' will live for the ages. Sadly, Hollywood never embraced her British reserve nor her husband, Peter Viertel, one of the great film writers of the 20th century. Check out 'Black Hunter, White Heart' [book and film by Clint Eastwood] about the filming of 'The African Queen' if you want.
Black Narcissus...that was what you meant to say not Black Dahlia! It is a wonderful movie by Powell and Pressburger...one of Deborah's best performances. And not forgetting Kathleen Byron too- that was a role of a lifetime for her. Just recently watched Deborah in Love on the Dole...that was the movie that transformed her career. If you want to see Deborah playing another nun...check out: Heaven Knows, Mr Allison. A John Huston film made in Tobago. Deborah and Robert Mitchum are terrific in it.
Bob Mitchum was afraid she'd be stuck up and English when they made a movie together (Heaven Knows Mr. Allison) - but they became great friends. Really down to earth gal.
You can download Love on the Dole from RUclips. Its a very English provincial movie...you may struggle with some accents but it has a lot of heart and Deborah's a fiesty star in the making, in it. Heaven knows, Mr Allison? is Huston at the top of his game...with Kerr and Mitchum stranded on an island during the Second World War and its basically just the two of them for most of the movie. Its another of my favourites...and one of Mitchum's too. Always happy to help a fellow Deborah Kerr devotee!
Ha. Nice to find another big Dunne fan. ;-D I agree. I can't think of another actress with her range of talents. Others may have been more intense dramatic actors, (maybe.) But who else was so adept at drama, comedy, romanticism, with a healthy dose of glamor but not without personable charm and wholesomeness, and a lovely singing voice thrown in to boot. ;-)
This year marks the 10th anniversary since Mrs Kerr passed by. I've "discovered" her recently, as I watched, by chance, The King and I; how I wish the film industry could burn to DVD all of her movies! In Italy it's nearly impossible to find them, even on Amazon (even the italian dubbed The King and I, that is a must-have along with The Sound of Music -actually all R&H are must-have-, is scarce!) 😞
@Jitpring It's wonderful The Innocents has found a new audience these past number of years, especially with the fantastic dvd with book & extras (& the pretty ordinary remake which sent folk back to it in their droves). Night of the Iguana by John Huston has 3 tour de force performances by Deborah, Ava Gardner and Richard Burton- & the dvd with the extras is a must. Heaven knows, Mr Allison? The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, The Sundowners......I could go on & on. Apologies. Hahaha
You're officially my new favorite poster! Greer Garson and Deborah Kerr are two of my favorites, and you've posted them both! Who else have you got that you haven't posted yet??????
I've never wanted to look or act like anyone before in the theatre although Maureen O'Hara has some of my families similarities. If I could be like someone in the theatre or films it would be Miss Deborah Kerr. She has all the appeal and ladylike demeanor that I appreciate.
@mustang73ism Yes, and going to the movies was a real event - 3 movies of her's playing on Broadway!! There aren't ANY movies playing on Broadway these days because all the great movie palaces are gone. The younger generation have no idea just what it was like.
Ive yet to come across a whats my line video on youtube in which the panel didnt guess the mystery guest correctly, anyone came across one? strange indeed, thanks
I'm convinced that Bennet Cerf always had a small hole in his blindfold from which he was able to spot the guest. The guy was unbelievable in picking out guests.
My favourite actress! She actually performed and disguised her voice rather than just the Yes/No grunt. Just wondering what Deborah did on the broadway stage if it wasnt dramatic?
@Jitpring Yes, the Innocents is one of the most underrated films of all time. She did say it was her favourite performance. I watched it again a couple of weeks ago. It always surprises me. Night of the Iguana is tops for me because I always, always wonder what happened to Hannah Jelks? Hahaha That's how much its stuck with me. That's how good she was. Keep searching out Deborah's films. The Hucksters is another....Okay fanboy that's enough out of you!! Hahaha
Allyson appeared as a mystery guest maybe four times in the late 1950s and early 1960s. When her husband Dick Powell appeared (last time?) sometime in 1961? 1962? she was hovering backstage and Daly called her out for a curtain call. GSN has broadcast Kinescopes of her mystery guest appearances in recent years.
"3 big pictures on Broadway at the one time" Now there are no big pictures on Broadway because there are no more theatres in show them in! The golden age of the movie industry is now just a memory.
Do you have anything to do with Hollywood? Unfortunately, yes. And back then Hollywood was not the horror that it is today. I bet that answer turned a lot of people off but she was truly proud of being from Scotland and have that gorgeous accent of hers.
I LOVE Debora Kerr. She epitomized beauty, grace, and class. Watching her with Cary Grant in
"An Affair To Remember" was as good as it gets.
She was better as a nun in Heaven knows Mr Allison!😼
@@padijeff5675I fell in love with DK in King Solomon*s Mines. Steamy.
Even better as Jean Seberg’s nemesis in Bonjour Tristesse.
She's so beautiful. It's breathtaking
I wouldn't consider her as a sex symbol, but she was nice and charming - a bit like Joan Fontaine
Over the last few months I've become a huge fan of this lovely lady. I've had the pleasure of watching all but two of her films since October. I'm trying to get my hands on those two! I loved Debra Kerr growing up. She was a classic English rose 🌹 and beautiful lady. I love her
This was one episode of this show that I wish was in color so I could see Miss Kerr's gorgeous flaming red hair. She was definitely one of the sexiest women of all time.
Deborah Kerr is amazing!! She knows her stuff and is right on with all her answers, but shes still adorable with a hint of shyness! Plus her accent was perfect!! Love her!!
She was a brilliant actress, one of the best.
What a great sense of humor and what a great lady! Wonderful accent =)
Such a great actress. What a classy lady. Thanks for this post. I have loved her for so manyyears and watch her movies all the time.
bless her heart she was so nervous!!
I adore her! You'll never find talent like her's nowadays!
brilliant actress. One of the true greats. Thansk for this post.
Holy mackerel, what a STUNNINGLY gorgeous woman!

Deborah Kerr was a truly great actress. She had a long and distinguished film career. She excelled in both playing serious and comedy roles.
She was so pretty.

Deborah Kerr Sublimissime Pour Toujours !
