tscp_celtic 51 Nah Tommy The Cat is easier. Still difficult but John The Fisherman requires much more knowledge of the fret locations if you're gonna sing it like Les
Coaster Universe: It's interesting you should mention Peart in this Primus-related comment thread referencing the drummer seen in this performance, 'cuz Claypool's a huge Rush fan -- he was the invited guest presenter who inducted the band into the R&RHOF a cpl./few years back
This is the video that got me into Primus. I was reminiscing some songs I would play on guitar hero as a kid and forgot about this song. Looked up the live version cause I always loved that guitar riff (my friends always hated this song). Seeing these guys killing it in 2011 and look absolutely badass...I needed more. Then my Primus music video binging spree began and I've been hooked for the last 4 years still listening to primus weekly if not daily. This live video had a huge impact on me and I want to thank the uploader. By far my favorite band.
haha same man, when i played it on GH2 i thought it was the best song i've ever heard and when my dad told me they made the south park intro i was like damn that's cool Les is a fucking machine !
1:52 How can he keep his left thumb so still on the neck even when he is moving his fretting hand to play the power chords? My left hand seems too rigid and small to do that. This man's a living wonder in every detail.
+Young Seok Do I was about to say I can do the same thing but then I saw his thumb stayed vertical. I tried doing it and I'm sure I can still do it - on a _guitar_ - but right now? Although I did try it and managed to keep my thumb on the same spot it rotated as I moved my hand up the fretboard.
I actually used to have a friend that did this. He was a singer as well as a bassist. If you notice, he's not looking while he's playing, keeping his thumb in that spots makes sure he doesn't leave the root note. Its hard as hell but necessity will make you work for it. Like I said, it was another bassist/vocalist that I had seen do this.
The beginning of the song where nothing but the drums are heard people in the crowd are standing there jumping and clapping their hands. Epic! I love this song and performance. Definantly my favourite song by 'em. I guess PRIMUS SUCKS, after all! ;)
Living at the bottom of the world in New Zealand. It is nice to be able to watch all of Les' projects live. I have the recordings, but it is not the same.
Primus was originally les claypool , tod hooth , and jay lane , Tim and ler joined and they recorded suck on this in 89, Tim was with them till tale from the punchbowl, then brain joined for anti pop and the brown album, then jay came back ..now Tim is back with them
He is such an awesome bassist. The sounds he creates are amazing. He is truly one of the best in history. Primus as a whole are criminally under valued too!
To even those who I love and respect…the divine plan is that we listen tew music all night and if there are entities interested in the human condition it will be known
I remember that vividly. Spent most I had to get to that concert. Mostly preppy people in the audience and then Primus came on and everybody turned batshit crazy. Best show I was to.
i remember, i saw primus for the first time as a support for rush in 86, I THINK. THIS OUR ANOTHER MEETING 'LIVE' STYLE, BUT TI HIS TIME ON RUclips`S STAGE. FUNNY! YOU GUYS ARE STILL 'DYNAMI*E! TO BE CONTINUE ... ANOTHER SUPER TRIO SOUNDING LIKE AT LEASRT 10-PIECE BAND! ANDYOU SOUND ALSO "GRADE A HIGH END"! REGARDS, THOMAS (POLAND-CHICAGO) GDYNIA, PIEKNE MIASTO ALONG WITH GDANSK AND SOPOT!
just cause les is a good bassist and flea is also dont mean you have to compare them, just accept that theyre both good and leave it at that ya fuckin wally
@tylerj19797 No, Brain wasn't the original. Jay Lane, this drummer here, was their original. However, most people don't know it because they didn't record anything early on. The next drummer was Tim Alexander until Tales From the Punch Bowl. Then from there it was Brain for some time, then back to Tim again, and now its Jay again.
Obviously everyone rightfully talks about Les being a boss at bass but honestly Ler is insanely talented at guitar too.
They clash together really well especially on wynonas big brown beaver
Joe Satriani taught him would you believe
Herb ain't there, I don't know. Sounds off....
Herb... Or Brain. Was that Brain?
Nah...
*All* amazing.
Thanks for that.
@@petgeek1 That's Jay Lane
One of the fucking hardest Bass lines i've ever played and Les just plays it singing...
Théo Luís Tommy the Cat
tscp_celtic 51 Nah Tommy The Cat is easier. Still difficult but John The Fisherman requires much more knowledge of the fret locations if you're gonna sing it like Les
hamburger train. So hard not even les could sing over it
@Martin Zamorano that was the joke
you just need a smaller fretboard to play power chords while singing, i've learned this song in 2 hours
WOW drummer is kicking the crap outa that kit, super crisp and hits HARD , great sound
Jay Lane is very underrated. He’s one of my favorite drummer of this generation.
Dats Jayski baby
His fills are fucking insane ; the fills in the intro are fucking legendary
Primus is definitely in my top 3 favorite bands of all time!
Everyone talks about Les and the drummer but the guitarist is freakin amazing too.
Lar is an all timer
Jon Snow is a great drummer!
Not as good as Neil Peart though.
+Coaster Universe not as good as your mum either.
Coaster Universe Neil just throws in a shit ton of needless drum fills.
Lou Reed did a good job filling in on guitar as well lol

I only got to know them today because Spotify suggested this sing and I needed to see that in a live video. Gonna dig muuuuuch deeper into them now
John the fisherman on repeat since then, by the way
3 piece band that sounds like 12 ppl , AWESOME GROUP
the drummer is a beast too
most unique and accomplished bassist on planet Earth

Led Claypool = best bassist to ever live

i agree with that although my favorite bassist is flea, les claypool just unreal, yep he is a living wonder
Young Seok Do years & years & years of practice
This is simply amazing. The drummer blows my mind. And Les is brilliant as always.
Gives me chills every time that intro kicks in.
Same here. Especially live.
Les actually was on a casting for Metallica's bassist but (if it's true) Hammett said that "he was too good"
It is true!! ruclips.net/video/uS6gwp6SeXM/видео.html but it wasn’t Kurt. 🤘🏽
WhammyLooper it is very true
@@hoohoomcdoodleman1238 Nah, they actually just thought he was weird ruclips.net/video/uS6gwp6SeXM/видео.html
Les playing bass with Metallica would be like asking Secretariat to pull a plow.
Yeppp true story, Kurt talked about it on the Metallica documentary as well, he literally said Les was too good, lmao that cracks me up
Les must have the best instrumental control ever witnessed... Talk about virtuoso!
Bad ass band timing is incredible, energy is off the chart
That whole band is insanely talented
Primus live is freaking amazing! I highly recommend adding this to the bucket list.
Three musical geniuses on that stage...!
The beginning of the song where nothing but the drums are heard people in the crowd are standing there jumping and clapping their hands. Epic! I love this song and performance. Definantly my favourite song by 'em.

Bane less, Larry and Tim in my opinion
When Larry was in Possessed, I'm 100% sure, he never would've thought that he would play a song about a Fishernan 😂
Les didn't slap his bass....
He spanked it.
Haha I wish I could play the bass like Les. One day maybe ;_;
He is such an awesome bassist. The sounds he creates are amazing. He is truly one of the best in history. Primus as a whole are criminally under valued too!
+A guy the bass isnt to hard for me its singing while playing those complicated bass lines
I came from the future and no one of you play the bass like Claypole. Salutes.
Keep dreaming
@@LVinci-qw6ef I came from the past just thought Les how to play
There's bass players and there is Les Claypool
Jay Lane. The legit OG of Primus.
Quite simply
The bollox
Wot a track
And wot a band
Love em 👍
Wow, Russel Brand can really drum!
I love his bouncey thing 😭😭😭
Sounds pretty damn close to the album...these guys are tight.
Les and Ler are equally s-tier gods. Drummers come and go but Primus is only Primus with the two of them
Damn that sounds so freakin great! Thank you!
I absolutley love Ler's Distortion!
Masterpiece!!
Omg that Bass>❤️👌🏼

ahhh Jay plays it perfect, since he wrote this beat ;)
I like tim better tho
can't wait for the show next month....way overdue. ;)
jay lane can get people dancing just by playing a beat. sooooo bouncy
Tightest band ever .
I wanna see primus live pretty sure theyre coming here in june
@90smusicfanatic
Actually, Les designed and helped make that bass.. It was from his own mind.. Dig it..
Amazing bass !!!!!!!!!!
Drummer back there rocking a Stone Cold Steve Austin vest and going off
Great....
Les Claypool is an amazing storyteller.
The majesty and the knowing of the song is merged with the pleiadian high council. And so it is
I love the tone of the Carl Thompsons but the new bases are just monsterous.
The bass is so fucking insane sometimes I don’t even know if it’s the drums making that sound or the bass
Dit wil ik echt live zien....I want to see this
I watched South park the guitar hero episode and got reminded about this dope assss song lol had to look this up. STILL GREAT
Those skins are in perfect tune.
Good sound, damn!
The only country music that matters
omg!!!! this is awesome
28 dislikes from Flea and his 27 fans
just cause les is a good bassist and flea is also dont mean you have to compare them, just accept that theyre both good and leave it at that ya fuckin wally
lol, "his 27 fans"...think the best bass-player in the world has abit more than that.
Lmao les is 100x better than flea
I struggle deciding who is the best Primus drummer. When it's herb playing I'm sure it's him. But when it's Jay lane or brain playing I wonder 🤔
Well let's see this can't even play the part that Herb kills with one foot... So Tim Herb Alexander
I feel like Les is playing the melody of Purple Haze at the beginning of the song
Não canso de tocar esta musica no guitar hero
Com a introdução de forró na bateria hahahaah
When people say these guys arent human they are telling the truth, they're hybrids

...The rainbow bass has a kahler tremolo I believe all of his 4 strings do as well
It's so hard to see Primus without Herb on drums. It's not right to me. He's doing a good job but he can't play at Herbs level.
show some pics from that event.
Out of all the drummers PRIMUS had, Alex Van Halen was the best.
thats one hell of a choke
hes coming back to primus :D
Ok but for real though, there all really good.
primus sucks
@@DisgustedArchive yes
@@Hawiianlion67 finally, someone who gets it.
I agree.
The way les *SLAPPS* THAT BASS
@inabit68 this is the original Primus drummer. Claypools' favourite
@90smusicfanatic I think thats his custom bass he has been prototyping to make his own line
The slaps at 2:53 are the most erotic thing ever.
It was actually Hetfield that said Les was too good for Metallica, not Hammett. It was from VH1's Behind The Music of Metallica.
Oh God, look at that video lenght *starts blazing*
PRIMUSSS🤘🤘🤘
Lead singer is a fucking jenious
You just might be a harvester of the sea. Haha
Wwwwwwwwwwwwwuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaoooooooooo! ! Great !! ! !
Les is the fuckin man!
You really think a band's gonna say, really seriously, "mmh, this guy wants to be in our band but we won't accept him cause he's too good" ?
Right? Who cares what they truly thought, though. It's still better that didn't work out!
My hands hurt after playing this song
fucking killed it, incredible
New BASS it looks like?!?
1:31 epic
PRIMUS SUCKS!!!!! I f***ing love this song!!!
Ugh i remember when i bated primus
LOL great stuff
One day
Yeah, but can Les play John the Fisherman acoustically on guitar hero?
this isn't how it sounded on South Park...
South park is gay sooooo
Because its live, check out the studio version for the recorded "perfect sound" which they played on South Park.
Peter Parker ...coming from Peter Parker....

Eric Andre eating a chicken wing, can’t tell if that’s a reference or not
how is it wrong? it's a live version... have you ever seen bob dylan live? ...it's different i'd say
Chris Kattan on guitar.
brain used to kill it too.. i like jay though, different style, softer touch
alex van halen in primus?
@Steven Parent now its tim again
