F10 M5 Exterior Modifications - Wheels, Spacers, Lugs, Gills & Grills

- I'm getting ready to apply Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light & EXOv4 on the M5, so I need to get all the exterior modifications on so they can be coated at the same time. I put Future Classic 12mm spacers on the front to space out the satin black OEM 343M wheels and Future Classic 10mm spacers on the rear. The new wheels are mounted on the car and secured to the hub with Project Kics R40 Iconix lug nuts. After the wheels, I snapped in the IND painted black fender gills & IND painted black front kidney grills.

Wheel gap looks perfect as it is.I love the symmetrical gap all the way around the top of the tyre.

This is unbelievable...being an E92 M3 owner and still being completely indifferent to an F10 M5 for 10 years, seeing what you are doing to it, I actually started liking the car :)) OG magic!
It looks pretty good, but it is still very numb to drive. You'd have a tough time with that like I am.
@@ObsessedGarage I'd guess once you have extensively experienced GT3 RS, any four door sedan will feel numb. Have you had a chance to test drive Giulia QV? Wondering how that would compare to F10 M5.

Love the center caps with the outer chrome deleted. Also great idea coating the plastic inside the grills. I battle waters spots on mine...👍🏻
I am CSL'ing my 19 Tacoma TRD Off-Road here in the new few weeks. My old 08 Tacoma had C1 on it, with no EXO on top. Topped with Shine Supply CLUTCH Silica Spray. Great combo!

I love it when I convince him to come over and work with me. I like to let him do things even if it takes longer. I try and remember the little things I remember my Dad telling me over the years. So I explain things to him and figure some of it will stick. You just never know what will resonate.
Obsessed Garage so well said Matt. With the expansion of the OG business I think it’s even more crucial to get him involved in the little things. Even if it takes longer as you say. And maybe it may resonate as you mentioned. It ain’t bad thing working in the family business. Keeping it in the family! Woah. Matt I know you're NOT going to like Optimum's Tire Coating. I ended up with a decent finish but found it tricky to apply.
On the other hand, Optibond Tire Gel is amazing. It's the only dressing I've used that you can run your finger over and you'll get no transfer on your finger.

That gold lugs actually look pretty good. Not a fan of the gangster tints but you seem to like it a lot.

What are your thoughts on bolts or nuts?
I have used bolts on my GTI for 2 years. Love them. Great hardware and look good. Heard about galling and using anti seize but not an issue yet and passed on the anti seize due to impact on torque.

I would love night vision we have too many deer in Southwest Ohio. I think the car looks great! I always have reservations about lowering the car and making the suspension stiffer and perhaps having it ride too harshly.
Why not take off the hideous yellow cap off the lug nuts? I run them without the center caps and they look much cleaner......IMO.
Where is Ry Mans Flashlight lol I learned a lot holding a flashlight for my dad at his age! Love M5 series. Can’t wait for some vette content.

Matt you really need to try 3D ACA 500 XTRA Cut. I would think it it would dust less and provide a longer work time. You do not make a lot of extra work for yourself by having to dust and clean your work area.
I'll talk to those guys at SEMA. You and a bunch of others have suggested the same.

Matt with regards to the iND painted BMW center caps on the wheels, hood and trunk roundels did you opt for gloss black or matte black painted finish? M5 is coming together nicely! I’m excited to see the Klassen MS03’s on the M3 and Öhlins suspension - look forward to it. Thanks man!
I did gloss even with the Satin wheels. I wanted to keep all of the emblems the same on the car.
Those wheels are looking great !!! BMW should have done the car like you did it from the start. Your brake lights look just a touch dark to me, are they tinted, or replacements or is it just the camera?

Hello great how you rebuild the M5 👍🏼. I have a question ? you also have the carbon ceramic brakes on the m5. I bought an M6 competition. I also built wheel spacers on it today. I also have the carbon ceramic brakes. I also noticed that the front brake discs are difficult to turn by hand even when the rim is mounted? in your video it also looks difficult to turn the disc by hand? is this normal my friend ????
Does the front grille come out as easy as it came off? Or do you need to screw anything?
It's requires a bit more prying to get out, but it's pretty simple.
Man this car is really shaping up! Insane :) Do the IND parts fit well?
IND uses OEM BMW parts as their core, take them apart and paint them. So the fitment is OEM, you get what you paid for.

Hey Matt, I’m surprised you don’t have the color matched rear reflectors from IND. Just not your style?
I do the front because the orange doesn't match, but even the IND painted look pieced on the car. The red matches the red lights, so I don't like to change those.
Where can I get one with night vision?

I've never done wheel studs, but I'm surprised that blue loctite would hold up to brake temps.
The lugs are what hold them in place. Using Loctite is just to aid in them not backing out when removing the lug.
The color of the pain looks completely different now with all the black accents. Not one grandpa thing about it now.
It needs 60% crystalline on the windshield !
I'm doing 70% tomorrow. Trying XPEL film. I don't like Crystalline.

I don't think I'm going to mess with these. They are much more sophisticated than the previous generation lights.

I’d be concerned with the lugs bottoming out on the front as well at full torque. With only a 2mm difference in spacer thickness between front/rear, the front lugs are likely near bottoming out.
The hubs are a little deeper in the rear also.

Why not bootmod3 over the ESS tune?
I stick with my gut on things like this, and I never chase the new guy on the block when it comes to tuning. Active and ESS are generally who I use.

Søren Petersen my though also when I first saw it, but those are cameras, at least it is on my f11. If you’re talking about the front bumper that is.
You're using the wrong loctite. Should have used Red 263. Half those studs will probably come back out, when you take lugs off.
Good call. I'll probably have to fix it.

Those door handles need to go.. I believe IND should got you covered there as well.

I personally hated it when I ran studs. They often come loose when removing the nuts and its a pain in the ass to separate when that happens. Also didn't really see the point of it as well.
