It’s one of my all time favourite songs, but I’m not sure I’d be slam dancing to it either, it’s a song to be enjoyed musically, I think the audience is loving it just fine…
About 47 years ago, I bought my first stereo. I wired it up, turned it on, and this was the first song that played on the little station in upstate New York. I was thrilled with the quality of sound that came from something I owned. So much so that I still own those speakers, although I rebuilt them around 20 years ago with more modern components. That is my special connection to this song. I have an even more modern 7-channell digital stereo system connected to my PCs today, and on behalf of the audience, I'll have to say this performance did not quite elicit the response I had to this song 47 years ago.
This song is like lays potato chips...you can't just hear it once and be satisfied...this is my fifth time listening...I can't stop people I can't understand this phenomenon!!!
What a Date for this Performance of MAGNET And STEEL! It was on April 12, 2012 and with this resultant Superstar Status for Walter Egan unto all 12 Signs of the Zodiac!
In 35 years he has gotten very grey... Still sounds good. Amazing with all of Lindsey Buckingham's help back in the day that he did not have any other hits!
I saw him sing this song in 79 when he opened for Heart. I also got to see him a Sheena Easton sing it as a duet in 1985. Sure looks a lot different now, I haven't changed a bit, lol.
Instead of criticizing this group of senior citizens, you should be proud of them. That’s the generation that mostly fought all the wars for this country and thanks to them you can enjoy and afford the vast majority of what we have in this nation. Next time think 🤔 twice and open the mouth once, because what you see there is exactly yourself in a mirror.
Written for his love of Stevie Nicks. Stevie (and Lindsey) sang backup on the recording. Walter also featured Stevie in his song 'The Girl in the Red Corvette'. Steve's the girl in the video!
The audience is great. A great performance is only great if the audience is into it. Did you see the part where that woman is nodding her head? That’s fire 🔥
they shouldn’t have panned or showed the audience so much. would have been fine just filing the band with a very occasional shot at the audience , more flattering certainly
Right on , keep negative comments in your heads , how can anyone put him down for not sounding the same almost 40 years later, i appreciate him still doing his thing
Walter Egan, you still got it man. You’re still so sexy and so talented and you can sing like an angel also you have great guitar skills. I’m a 75 year old lady, but I still enjoy your songs. ❤❤❤
This song was about Stevie Nicks. Stevie and Lindsey sang magnificent background vocals. Lindsey Buckingham didn't know it at first, because Egan kept it to himself - he had a thing for Stevie, and had his moment in the sun with her at the end of '76. Side note: This was around the time of Stevie Nicks' appearances on the covers of Cream magazine and others - ahhhhh....
I so appreciate hearing a song that’s not pitch corrected or auto tuned. 😊
Yeah, he didn't deserve that dead audience. I loved watching this. He can still hit the high note.
He is still great
Pathetic audience
It’s one of my all time favourite songs, but I’m not sure I’d be slam dancing to it either, it’s a song to be enjoyed musically, I think the audience is loving it just fine…
Audience is the farts ..
Hitting high notes with falsetto is not hitting high notes.
Walter was great. Someone needs to call the embalmer for the audience.
🤣😂
He’s hitting those highs like the last 40 years never happened. Such a champ.

He can play rhythm guitar, he can play lead guitar, he can write songs, and he can sing ...... not too shabby.
I am a 57 year old member of the KISS Rock Army and a, will not die, Ace Frehley fan. Magnet & Steel is one of my all time favorite songs. Go figure.
Me too lol
Me as well

Yeah, back in the day we were supposed to like either rock OR pop, not both. That never made sense to me. I liked a lot of both.

He was “ infatuated” with Stevie and wrote it about her.
And it still is a great song
In 35 years he has gotten very grey... Still sounds good. Amazing with all of Lindsey Buckingham's help back in the day that he did not have any other hits!
Stevie Nick's sang backup, too. He has 3 other hits.
@@mddell58 what hits
I think Stevie might have inspired that song.
Great band; John Terrence on bass, Ron Krazinski on drums and Chris P. James on keys.
Sometimes people need to be honest with themselves and retire when it’s time.
I was 13 when this song was a hit. Absolutely love it even after all these years!
Me too!!
@@bonniespruin6369 me 3 ! 😄
This is by far the best vocals of the song. Way better than the #1 hit and that one deserved the #1 hit. Love Stevie.

I never knew the words of the song until today.
What's with the 'dead audience '?
I agree
Trump voters?
@@abbush2921 More like Biden's age

Soothing sound of the 70's..
Apparently you have never rocked out at the Whispering Hills retirement home, jeezz.
Oh, shit! LOL!!
lmfao!!!!
I really hate the negative comments .all that's telling me is that you guys are jealous as hell....songs of my childhood.
Right on , keep negative comments in your heads , how can anyone put him down for not sounding the same almost 40 years later, i appreciate him still doing his thing

Best players I’ve seen in his backup band.
That crowd is clearly heavily medicated.
good ......very nice.
Looks like Covid might have started in 2012 everyone...lol
🤣🤣🤣
Deuce Bigalow!
Great song - but i think he should've stuck to the original plan - gotta have the female backup. One of the best older songs tho
The man doesn’t have too many bad hair days.
Great one hit wonder
And right in the middle of Magnet and Steel, Walt looked out at the audience and realized the Zombie Apocalypse had started…
Walter Egan now teaches high school in Nashville.
Spanky McCallister he's my substitute in centennial:))
Spanky McCallister really i guess a music class
LOVE WALTER ADORE THIS SONG! The audience is a real downer 👎 geez 😮
The crowd is from the Ronco Showtime Rotisserie infomercials. This is just the intermission. Set it and forget it!!!!!
Ahhh😍😍😍
That audience sucks! I don't like the changes in his voice from the original, but man, I wouldn't look like them. It's still an amazing song!
