First off, ash can use all three gimmicks Second, ashes team is surrounded by power, speed and bulk Third, ashes has defeated champions around the world and so called “undefeated champion” Leon. If we go game wise Mewtwo is no problem. It’s very frail so any super effective move from a faster Pokemon can beat it in a single shot. But anime wise the anime really loves to hype mewtwo like no other. So only way I think Ash would beat it is using Solgaleo. And going origin wise it’s similar to both games and anime but more towards games. Levels play a huge role in that. Considering the level 84 Charizard defeated mewtwo I believe Ash Greninja is around that level and even if it’s below Greninja is still faster and with a dark move can beat Mewtwo. And if it’s no mewtwo and Red’s official team then Ash washes that team without much trouble.
The real question is if red would use mewtwo or not, and could we use that as a metric of how tough the are or not. Red beat mewtwo, but there’s nothing other than speculation to say that his mewtwo is as strong as the one ash knows

I love Ash but he only relies on plot amour. Red doesn’t have that and is an amazing trainer without it. Red is the most underrated trainer in the pokemonverse and real fans of Pokémon would understand just how great of a trainer Red is
No way you said the first trainer of the series is underrated. He's easily one of the most known Pokemon characters/protagonists. And Ash is way stronger than Red, aside from the Pikachu and Snorlax, his team's kinda underwhelming in comparison.

First off, ash can use all three gimmicks
Second, ashes team is surrounded by power, speed and bulk
Third, ashes has defeated champions around the world and so called “undefeated champion” Leon. And he didn’t even use his most powerful team to win!!!!!
Lastly, do we even need to be worried if red uses mewtwo, last time I checked ash has won against 6 legendary Pokémon and won (plus one tie, latios and pikachu), and let’s not forget pseudo legendary Pokémon he also defeated

If we go game wise Mewtwo is no problem. It’s very frail so any super effective move from a faster Pokemon can beat it in a single shot. But anime wise the anime really loves to hype mewtwo like no other. So only way I think Ash would beat it is using Solgaleo. And going origin wise it’s similar to both games and anime but more towards games. Levels play a huge role in that. Considering the level 84 Charizard defeated mewtwo I believe Ash Greninja is around that level and even if it’s below Greninja is still faster and with a dark move can beat Mewtwo. And if it’s no mewtwo and Red’s official team then Ash washes that team without much trouble.
