In today's lesson I'll be diving into an amazingly fun acoustic blues riff in the Key of G. This same type of riff is used by Keith Richards in the Rolling Stones song "Country Honk", which is a countrified version of the more well-known tune "Honky Tonk Women". Special thanks to Song Notes member Tim for turning me on to this song!
The notes in this riff are something you can learn quite quickly, though it'll reward any extended practice you put in - as it's quite tricky to play seamlessly while in a strumming groove. But fear not, I'll walk you through learning it in three steps! You'll be able to use this riff anytime you need a bluesy fill over a G major chord.

I just wanted to say how much I love your channel. THANK YOU! I taught myself how to play acoustic and classical about 7 months ago and now would like to graduate from 'campfire strummer' of my favorite songs to electric and more classical as well. I just love it and wish I had begun years ago but better late than never. Thank you again for your channel and website.

I also wish I had taken it seriously a long time ago. I've had a guitar most of my life after the age of 13 and I am 40 now. Still a beginner in most aspects of playing but I play every day now. Have been for a month now and don't plan on stopping. If only I had this dedication when I was a teenager or even my 20's lol. Oh well, I'm here now. Good luck to you my friend

You’re my new favourite teacher! Thank you! If I may have a lesson request then I would love to see some acoustic fingerstyle from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (“Fault Line” or “Restless Sinner”🤩). Just saying 😊
