i think em wanted to be acknowledged as a rapper at first and provide for his family, i dont think he ever wanted or expected to be as huge as he is right now

@@Marcus-gb1hj What I don't get is the medias or critics. They've been hating on Eminem since day one and at the same time often use Em to get views. A lot of them praises mumble rap like Kanye and Lil Pump I Love It but hating on Kamikaze. I don't get their logic at all.

The explicit version is wayyyyy better. The line, "they can all get fucked just stay true to you" gives me chills every time. I feel like you lose some of the emotion that makes the song so great on the clean version. Definitely check out the album version in your free time when you get a chance my man (plus there's another verse)

He was just recovering from alot his personal issues with drink and drugs and then come back from nearly dying, especially after proof. Plus Eminem always hated his fame even if you go back to his early 2000 albums he talks about being left alone whilst trying to feed Hayley. He had to sit in another room.with a video set up for her graduation. He regrets the loses because of who is it, why he never mentions his other kids later on.

@@jordanstreet2214 He never drank in his live, he said in his multiple raps that he never had problem with alcohol. He was doing a lot of valium and that's why he overdosed and went to rehab in 2008.

Eminem is an introvert and family man. He values that over fame. I remember reading he couldn't even be at his daughters graduation. He had to sit in a classroom and watch from there so it wouldn't take away from her moment.

I really hate speedom.... Tech and Em had some great verses and the song had a lot of potential but Krizz’s verse was straight garbage and the hook was terrible and repeated way too many times.

it’s like everything in life...the good & the bad. he got the recognition he wanted, was able to finally provide for his family doing what it is that he is amazing at but the huge trade off i don’t think he ever realized what it was going to be like & still struggles with it

By far one of his songs that resonates with me the most, know the whole song word for word and it still hits at home.
Pretty sure I heard that he wrote this while in rehab. He took a hiatus and needed to find himself again.
As far as his stardom goes. I think he wanted success, and I I think he's even proud of his current standing in the would of pop culture.
But I also think he has moments where he just wants that classic wholesome life. But he can't have it without the public life. And he's loves to rap so I feel that maybe he all crazed a lot of times from it.
He's aware of his legacy, and it's brought him more than he could ever imagine. But also more than he was prepared to handle.
I believe he and I share some mental instabilities that's not extactly easy to understand or explain but I did my best lol.
Just caught this song for the first time yesterday. It was one of the realest songs I had heard Em put out. Glad you reacted to it. What you said was dead on. Growing up I wanted to be a singer and become a star. I got into high school and kept getting better. My senior year I was singing on a national level. After high school, I decided to use it to pay my way through college. At the same time, a couple of my friends became really successful. I watched them turn into an image. They lost themselves, and they led a pretty lonely life style. There were lots of parties to go to, and people to be around, but most of them wanted something from them. All of their relationships were super shallow, and they just wanted to be back home, like it never happened. I decided to go a different direction, because I saw what success did to them. I still have that dream, but I’m good with knowing I had what it took, and decided to live a normal life. I’m very blessed to have true friends, and family who love me. I can’t think of a greater success. It’s pretty obvious, in this song, Eminem is echoing the same feelings my buddies felt, but on a much higher level.

Sadly he paid a very high price for his success. All the money he made can't buy back the time he missed with his daughters and family. I'd be very interested to find out if he regrets it too.

Em was going through a lot of things at once when this song was written. I think he wanted to acknowledged as a rapper and to provide for his family. Nobody could have predicted him being “ one of the greatest of all time”. He said in an interview that in Detroit he’s able to go places without being followed because it’s not crazy like LA or NY.

Is not just Em feeling the pressure of stardom, unfortunately many artist whether in the music industry or in the scenes, died because they couldn't handle that amount of pressure. Em explains that feeling in multiple songs. Yea the death of Proof really hurted him because of how close they were but it was the fact of who he had become as an artist that did it for him.

I think losing Proof in 2006 took a lot of the joy and fun out of the game for Em plus he was new in his recovery 2008 so while he always wrote about his life, his lyrics were really becoming more introspective, he was writing more as MM and less like Shady something a lot of his fans noticed. But yes, your right Em was never a fan of his personal life get intruded upon from the jump like this bar from The Way I Am - But at least have decency in you to leave me alone, when you freaks see me out in these streets when I'm eatin' or feedin' my daughter to not come and speak to me.
