As a former professional at doing epoxy floors... its really a job that you will want at least a two or three man crew that does this all the time to do your floor. It's more than what people think it is. I have had to cleanup bad mixes and sloppy jobs done by people all the time and it's awful. Always get a professional to do something like this. Unless you are experienced enough to know what you're getting into
I did this myself on my garage floor. I love it, it came out really good. I however, will never do it again! Once you open up the bag of epoxy, you have about 10-15 minutes before it starts turning into putty and you can’t roll or brush it anymore. It’s better to have at last 2 people doing it.
The previous video and this is a stellar example of DIY vs. leaning on professional experience. You should put the two together and it may go viral since it puts a lot things in context for people who start jobs with sincere intentions but end up ruining their home. GREAT content! 👍🏽

FYI for anyone doing epoxy garage floors and throwing flakes. Stop throwing them and get a grass seed spreader. Hand held one and fill it then just walk and turn the handle. It gives you a better spread of flakes and doesn’t have clumped up spots by doing it that way.
When that wears off, use Spartacotes Polyaspartic and get a big 40lb box of the flake and do a much heavier broadcast of the flake. Those diy kits are okay but they don’t last very long. I tear a handful of those down a year and redo them because they start to deteriorate after a few years. The Polyaspartic will last you 15-20 years. It costs a bit more but is worth it!!
@@brandocommando4459 I’ve done one epoxy flake floor for my old boss who had a remodeling/ construction company. Me and my buddy just cut his grass for him amongst other hard manual labor but he needed help one day and we did an entire 6 car garage (nice high end garage complex) and everytime I see people doing their own epoxy floor I cringe. We used acid, cleaned the floors like a dinner plate and poured more base layer than I ever thought necessary for any paint job. The floor came out IMMACULATE I’ve never felt so impressed by my own work just because of the pure beauty factor.
As a professional Epoxy installer i have to give this a D+ it looks okay however using the same material you put down before is just not a good idea. Home Depot “epoxy” is not good or long lasting epoxy in any way shape or form. It is a very cheap way to paint a floor though!
Rolling out expoxy like that is definitely a no go, please layer along with a light grind and sweep/vacuum. Use a squeegee to smooth out mixture and make sure temperature is correct for set time.
How did you mess it up? It's a very simple process. What went wrong? I've done before with no issues but about to do it again on new house so I'm curious how it could get messed up
What do I think? I'll tell you what I know from personal experience: that Rust-Oleum garage epoxy is utter garbage. The top clear coat might help you some...but it will lift with hot tires on it, and it will fade in sun, and if you try to get a single gallon of the exact same color, it will not match the two gallon kit. After 10 years my garage floor looks like total crap, and it started looking bad after year 3. I'm going to put some porcelain tile over it all and be done with it.
You learned the internet is a rough place. Funny enough after I read some of the harsh comments on that other video I wondered if you would get it fixed and if you would post it.
Hope you don’t get snow in your area. We put the same product on our garage floor and it became a nightmare in the winter….kept slipping like crazy when snow was on bottom of boots/shoes.
Looks better however the Home Depot stuff doesn’t last long also next time order a 40lb box of flakes from torginal so you can do a full broadcast. Not only will the flake look more even it’ll also make your floor much stronger adding a full layer of flakes. Broadcast until full rejection and the entire floor is covered then scrape the flakes in 3 directions after it’s ready to be scraped!!
The epoxy kits from Home Depot suck. The epoxy is a cheap alternative to the real stuff where you first need to aside wash and then etch the concrete before using the epoxy. The stuff you get from home improvement stores peal relatively quickly from the heat from the car tires.
The “contractor” never measured the slab water vapor drive. Older garages seldom have a vapor barrier underneath the slab. That’s the primary reason the majority of coatings fail. You can prep all you want, but if you can’t stop water vapor, you will always have a failure no matter where your epoxy comes from.
When u add a clear coat/top coat doesn't it make it slippery when it dries? Or not really if u keep it to 1 medium coat since small rock flakes were added?
jose should put primer for moisture before rolling the epoxy. cheap insurance so you dont have to do it again. it saves you money and jose the time of coming back to do it again. then again idk where you are. happened to me thats why im saying it
