This thing really is pretty cool. Was able to use it about a week and a half ago to program a Baofeng HT for a buddy of mine that is currently in a specialized care facility without his normal radio gear. It’s really nice to hear him on the radio again and he says he doesn’t feel so alone anymore. Excellent device for the money.

Mine arrived in the mail today. What a miracle of modern technology indeed! Made my UV-82 sing.
I've never wanted to grab a dongle more than I wanna grab that dongle.. But what's even more incredible than that contraption is the fact that they didn't send you one. Before this video they probably sold 6 of these; by this time next week Tidradio will have a new Bentley off the sales of these things.

I was going to ask if it worked on the 82HP (since I own several), and your post would seem to indicate that it does. Good. :~)
They have indeed updated the available radios. I just bought one for my Baofeng UV-S9 (driver is Radioddity UV5RX3). Same functionality as the “old” UV5R, except it also has 222 MHZ ham band.
Your right about problems with the stock programming cables , mine
has a completely different driver that usually doesn't work .
This alone would be a good reason to have this device.

Just got mine. Very cool indeed. Thanks for the video that showed me how to use it. BTW, their customer service is excellent. One of my radios was not on the list and they answered my email in a day to resolve the problem.

The first release of Windows was Windows 2 . Windows 1 wasn't released because it had allot of issues. You probably knew that and was nerd checking your audience and I fell for it. lol

You can drive a wide SUV or a narrow subcompact car; they both drive fine on the superhiway.
But it makes all the difference in the world if you try a parking lot with the space-lines drawn for Compact Cars!
The same is true for radio: Narrow works well talking to another radio tuned to Narrow and likewise Wide works well talking to another radio tuned to Wide.
Now I'm feeling festive with the Christmas lights in the background. Now I know what to tell my wife to get me for a stocking stuffer.

Is there any info on this device from a programmer point of view? It would be fantastic if support for this could be added to chirp (so that it could be used to support all the devices that chrip supports that use this interface)

I am new to hams and would love to see a video on narrowband and wide band video. Love your technical jargon too 'more Blinky's, more flasheys'. Keeps it interesting.
I have mine and it works great, BUT only 1 issue I am having. After I write to my UV-5r, the radio resets and than the back lights DO NOT WORK. Radio works fine, all other buttons and functions are just fine. ANY IDEAS???????? have tried this several times over an dover, even other radios, same results. IF I reset the radio, the lights come back on. HELP!!!!!!

Thanks, Randy. It looks like I can use my iPhone 12 Pro to program a GMRS radio, at last. Since I retired from two careers and no longer had an IT support staff to fix Windows, I went into the Apple Orchard of products. That's why I haven't purchased a GMRS radio through you yet. I'll wait a bit for an updated version of this wonderful miracle device. The dongle makes me excited. In the meantime, Please do beat the competition and do clip of Wide vs. Narrow band. Please!
How do you disable tx on uv5r using odmaster. I only have bluetooth programmer and duplex column is no where to be found?
