    Hey guys a trick we used to keep out track vehicles from getting stuck to the ground in the winter is to park them on logs so you have very little contact with the ground

    • @Oldmane-420
      @Oldmane-420 Год назад +6

      💯 agree! I was thinking a couple of planks, if a track machine is going to be left for longer than overnight we well run the machine up on a couple of boards, even jus short blocks work so long as most of track is off ground

    • @hankjones5233
      @hankjones5233 Год назад +7

      Greetings from Kenai Peninsula Alaska.
      With the weight distribution of the tracks, you could use pallets. Just a suggestion. They are burnable also.
      And, if our weather is any indication of what you might expect. We have 4 times the usual snow in our area. Some years, we may have 12 inches on exceptional years 18. This year, we are over 48 inches accumulated, and we get snow until late March most years. Sometimes until mid - or late April. With global warming, who knows.

    • @Buck1954
      @Buck1954 Год назад +3

      Before the age of "Global Warming", my aunt used to tell me they got 18" of snow in East Texas during the 1910's. We got 4" along the Gulf Coast in 20. I can't imagine what it might be like up there in a month. I had some friends move to North Dakota back in the 80's. They said the stop signs got covered.

      The truck repair place I purchased from had their own taller cutting edges made out of AR steel and they worked perfect and mounted to the factory bolt holes on the trip edge so you don't wear away the factory cutting edge/trip. They also make cast iron feet that you can set the blade up a bit if you have a stone/gravel driveway. This was on an Straight 8.5' Fisher back up in NH.

    My first year in Utah, I woke up to 4 feet of snow in my yard. Later that day one of my neighbors was clearing the road with his loader, he was out in front of my house with a bucket of snow looking around. I asked him if he needed a place to put that. He said the neighbors would not let him put it in their yards because there my be rocks in it that show up in the lawn in spring. I told him to pile it all in my yard, I’ll just pay my kids to collect the rocks when the snow melts. So we had 12 feet of snow in my front yard but clear streets. My kids, and the neighbor kids, had a blast with all that snow, and in spring my kids made a few bucks at a penny a rock.

I’m sitting in my warm living room watching YT, reading comments, should be working today but got shut down by Mother Nature! Temp here this morning was minus forty degrees Celsius (Easy conversion to Fahrenheit as it’s the same at forty below) gov. regulation says we can’t work past -35 so now I’m waiting for warmer weather, lol. My job is plowing back roads along the Eastern slopes of the Rockies, absolutely stunning views every day(and they pay me to go there) so I’m in remote country, and weather like this has no mercy! Hi! Gang:
    Do you have a sewing machine? Do you do any sewing? Have you ever thought of making windshield covers for all your vehicles parked outdoors? I use water resistant cordura nylon. I sew rare earth magnets into the material, maybe four across the top, two or more across the bottom. I make the side ends long enough to reach into the door weatherstrips on either side. I make a pouch in the material tube-like, on each side to hold a 3/8ths or 1/2 inch dowel. The dowels fit into a groove in the weatherstrips. Carefully close the doors so the dowels are kept in the groove. Thus the windshield covers cannot be removed when the doors are locked.
    The covers help keep the windshields from being iced over. And when covered with fresh snow, you just open the doors one at a time, and pull off the covers and all the snow. Of course you have to remember to put the windshield cover on before the storm. Ha!
    If you don't sew you might be able to find someone in town who can do it for you. It does help if they have made them before.

    If you don't want your jeep tracks getting stuck to the ground when its parked , just lay a couple of 2x6's length ways on the snow under your tracks while you are parking your jeep. That should correct the problem for ya, and it would be a lot easier on your tracks the next time you go to use the jeep, as in the right conditions or situations the track or tracks tear into two pieces if not careful.

    Love that Jeep! We just moved from warm NZ to BC Canada and have a foot of snow, can’t even get out my drive. Our dog was born in NZ so she just doesn’t know what to make of snow.. it’s really funny to watch. Stay safe, have a wonderful Christmas

    When you park a tracked vehicle in the winter park the tracks on boards or old tires so it doesn't freeze to the ground.
