  • D-Day after 3 months of rebuilding the Tiger Avon. This was the first testing day at Bedford Autodrome with the mechanics from Leyland Automotive that helped to rebuild the engine.
I did circa 60 laps over the day and we tweaked so much on the car during the sessions.
The main focus was to ensure that the engine was working as expected. It stayed around the 105-degree mark all day which was a relief. The tune from the folks at Sanspeed was smooth and punchy which is exactly what was needed.
We struggled with tyre temps all day. We ended up running the fronts at 19psi and the rears at 21psi. Even after 6-7 hard laps the fronts were only luke-warm. I might try dropping the psi further on the next Track Day to see if that helps. Failing that I'll try a different tyre when these AR1s need replacing.
We also played around with the Brake Bias and Suspension damping. In short, we ran out of time on this day so these things will need further tweaking at future Track Days.
Overall I am very happy with the car and the way that it performed on the day. Its so vastly different to any other car I've driven so its going to take time to adapt to the way the car needs to be driven.
