+steve pelham Thanks Steve. A truly heart touching comment about your Dad that many of us will be unaware of. It ripped the sound out of the City and Country because they were so so good
No problem, its good to remember where we come from. Youngsters today need to learn that United are not about Sir Alex and the last 20 odd years. We are more than that as a club, the history is amazing and I asked the younger supporters to read up just a little and see beyond the premiership years and look what a fantastic club we are.... Nobody has the history we do.
I can identify with all that. Here in Ireland, United have a huge following. Many fly over each weekend,at great cost to see them play. They have a bigger following here than any other English team. Wow I have learnt alot watching this video I am only 13 I read alot of Man Utd books and the busby babes are mentioned every single time as legends. What a great club Manchester United are. Great video Mark
Over the years I've spoken to old United fans who had seen Edwards play, and each one was in awe of the speed of such a powerfully built young man.. R.I.P to all who lost their lives on that tragic day.
I wasn't old enough to witness the Busby Babes play but I've watched many documentaries and read so many books about them and its truly inspiring. What they achieved and could've accomplished is astonishing and this is why Manchester United are the greatest club in football. What Sir Matt Busby did to turn tragedy to triumph is truly special. The Babes will be forever remembered by our beautiful game for who they were as a unit, team and for all they achieved. Definitely the 'Greatest Story' ever told!
My great auntie used to date David Pegg she used to attend games even though she didn’t really understand football but she even told us how brilliant Duncan Edwards was
When one puts everything into perspective I think one (at least, in my case) has no doubt that this was the greatest side we have ever had in our club. Manchester United lost the greatest side they have had in 1958. That's our tragedy. Yet we still came back and ruled the footballing world. That's our resurrection. Still, there is just too much frustration and longing to grasp "what could have been" whenever I read and listen about the Busby Babes. It eats me like many others around the world from the inside.
+Abhik Chakraborty The footballing world would have been very different if they'd lived. Real Madrid would have less European Cups, England would have more World cups
I love learning about important history like this, very well done Mark. Touching story that I as an American have never heard very much about, it puts so much into perspective about the club I support. I now have a new level of respect for the legends like sir Bobby and great players like Duncan Edwards who were taken too soon, it's easy to think of them as simply professional footballers but we are all human and have to overcome serious obstacles and tragedies sometimes unfortunately.
+Ryan Allen So glad you took so many new things from the video. If every Person who watches this learns more about the history of our fantastic club then the video was worthwhile
A great watch & a wonderful tribute Mark. Means so much that people are made aware of how incredible this team really was & the magnitude of what was lost for both club & country. Truly great players, legends among them. What they could & would have achieved is beyond imagination. Possibly their greatest legacy is the unrivalled love and loyalty for Manchester United which they inspired worldwide forever. The greatest team ever at the greatest club. The Busby Babes will be in the hearts of all United fans for always. x
What a nice piece of story you made mark. The history of the busby babes touch my heart and that is why I support Manchester United since I am from London.
Great Stuff Mark! I was fortunate enough to have seen The Babes play and they were as good as the legends say. I was at Highbury for the 5-4 win against Arsenal before they flew out to Belgrade. Marvellous match. I can still see it in my mind's eye. Duncan Edwards was always my favourite. Eddie Colman, Tommy Taylor. Don't get me started... My old man was Ken Jones who wrote The Manchester United Calypso. Gives me chills still hearing it sung. GreatSite. Keep up the good work.
+Terry Jones Amazing! Would you fancy coming on Skype Goldbridge tonight for a few minutes and telling us all about it? Would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of us to hear from a man who saw them
My Uncle told me about a game against Spurs when he was stood in the Stretford End, He said Big Dunc had a shot from 30 yards that hit the bar and flew up and hit the corrugated roof of the stand. Now anyone who remembers the old Stretford End will know that is a fair old height for the ball to have rebounded! He said the bar seemed like it was shaking for five minutes.
Brilliant video. The idea is conveyed in a concise yet measured way. Thank you Mark! Mark, some of us friends and family here, all of us United fans, we watched this video together and all liked it. Many here who do not have you tube accounts because they are poor regular folk like me, but all of them told me to let you know, you are doing a great job. We all love United Stand, cos we all love those Manchester flowers. I made a second comment hoping to get a reply from you. You may miss it, I can understand. But I wish you to read. ps. last comment was anyway poetry, and poets are anyway those forgotten people, even if most of them get shot down by authorities as mistakes convicting them as false prophets. So ignoring poetry is anyway normal.
Heartwarming tribute Mark. If you love the club, Feb 6th is reserved for looking back and appreciating and holding your respect and thoughts with the warriors of '58... never forget. Keep the flag flying high!
I was born in 62 but my grandad always talked about the busby babes and it was he who took me too my 1st game when i was 5 it would have been amazing to have watched them play
I'm only 22 so well before my time but I'm always thankful and aware of United a great history and tragedy there sprit lives on through Manchester United till this day and forever will rip boys 🔴
Excellent tribute to the Babes, Mark. Well done. Your passion for our club's history really comes through in your commentary. You know, I never really occurred to me to consider the Babes in any way other than through the tragedy. You (and your grandad) are absolutely right when you say they deserve to be lauded for their achievements prior to the tragedy. You've made this old United think twice. Thanks for posting. Regards, William
The United Stand One of the most brilliant upcoming sides, players like Duncan Edwards of course and others like Tommy Taylor, to think of what that team would have gone on to, what marvellous achievements they could have succeeded with, a tragedy at its purest.
I for one who saw that team play was unbelievable me and a mate of mine called Pete use to alternate between city and utd when they played played alternate match at home from 1948 to present day
john cummings many older mancunians did mate.that was in the days of few car owners and no tv coverage.i did sometimes too,but i used to watch utd reserves in the old central league at ot.i have this feeling that alex dawson scored around 80 goals one season but i cant find any stats to provd it.maybe im wrong but it does seem an awful lot
Harry Gregg was a hero and very humble about what he did that tragic afternoon what the team would go on to achieve we will never know but know this We united live on and will never die god bless the flowers of Manchester
I saw them many times I consider myself very very privileged to have seen such magnificent talented footballers with a great Manager and Assistant Manager I’m in my 70s now and nothing as ever compared to them since😀 PS probably Bestie would have got in the team ❤️
I'm only 26 lifelong united fan and this is definitely the best footballing story iv ever heard i wish i got chance to see these greats play the beautiful game
As a young fan , i've watched a few clips of the babes playing! During the time when broadcasting wasn't famous small clips excite you! Imagine the time watching them Babes play!
RIP and respect to all of the Busby Babes and the staff who didn't survive that horrific crash . And we must remember the ones who are still with us and the ones who now have gone god bless❤
It seems Duncan Edwards frequently assisted Bobby Charlton's goals as well - and he was a defender! Though he was so good on the ball that he would frequently dribble or drive into midfield. They must all have been amazing. Their movie had me chopping imaginary onions all over the place last night. RIP.
Tommy Taylor & Mark Jones - Two Busby Babes from my hometown, Barnsley. My grandad always said Tommy Taylor was the best player that ever came from my area.
Tommy Taylor doesn't get mentioned enough. Arguably our best ever striker. Oh and thanks for the contribution last night Jake. Saw it go up in the screen just as we went off air
bid duncan was definatelty top 5. like you mark, i grew up with stories but it inspired me to find out more about him and the babes. i heard this guy was a beast and when you put fear into people at 17-20 then that is just fascinating. i watched a lot of clips of him. he could be your bully in the midfield to inforcer at the back and thats the best thing about him. ball playing abillity so silky smooth with a guy of his size is an understatement. finally, who gets into the england first team at 17? ha ha i didnt think so. he is a legend, a greek god and he didnt stop fighting till he died. thats the epitomy of Manchester united and everytime we watch the players this is the atitude they should have.
Keelan Johnson the story of duncan and the babes puts into perspective the overpaid overhyped pansies of today.football had a maximum wage of 15quid. in those days and 12 quid in the summer..i lived through those times and i get so frustrated with todays game.its rubbish compared to what ive seen
i agree the game is rubbish nowadays. players played for pride and passion because as a man you would want to insert dominance and win. but now you got these fuckin joker pansies.
Yes after watching the movie and realizing that they earned regular money to the extent that they joked about hiding the fact that they were footballers when wooing a lady made me angry and then tear up. These guys played for playing sake. I feel for their families who had to make do on the remains of such salaries given that footballers retire so early, and especially in the case of the Busby babes who met an untimely death. I wish big money would get taken out of football, but that footballers would get paid a very good salary that compensates for the fact that they are guaranteed to retire young (anywhere between 2x to 5x the salary of a top whitecollar job sounds fair to me. Their sponsorship deals etc are their business/brand and hence remain unaffected). At the moment the opulence is disgusting as on average they earn an white collar job's annual salary in a week. Unfortunately it is too late to take money out of football - now that the footballing world has tasted this amount of wealth, they will resist any attempts to bring common sense regulation. Money and agents, the two things that are ruining football. I fear to think what the next world transfer fee will be. Match ticket prices and club merch prices will keep climbing, and wages and signing-on fees will also keep climbing. Hopefully FIFA stalls this obviously unsustainable trend soon with some common sense transfer regulations and consumer fairness regulations.
From humble origins of railwaymen at Newton Heath surviving bankruptcy, the bombing of Old Trafford the Busby Babes tragedy against the odds United endured to be one of the biggest clubs in the world Glory Glory
i once went to a golf club do where the speaker was wilf mcguiness who said he would prob have been on that plane but for injury.fate i suppose.he also told the story of how after morning training routines the coaches then got the players to work on their weaknesses for half an hour, such as headibg sprinting crossing etc.but they allways said duncan u can go and get changed because he had no weaknesses.but of course he stayed and helped his mates
The United Stand he also told the story of the first team turned up at ot for a european cup game.hed forgotten he should have been maine rd,because of course utd played theirearly european games at citys ground cos we had no floodlights!!he reckoned the guy was so nervous his mibd had gone blank!!!in those day fa cup replays were played wed afternoons(half day closibg for shops)cos most clubs didnt have floodlights.indeed when denis law signed for city from huddersfield for 53grand,huddersfield got their floodlights out of the deal.i think the player who went to the wrong ground was bill whelan but i may be wrong.
It's such a big tradigy because of how good the team was every football fan back then knew they where a special team and there would never be another one
Contemporaries of Edwards have been unstinting in their praise of his abilities. Bobby Charlton described him as "the only player that made me feel inferior" and said his death was "the biggest single tragedy ever to happen to Manchester United and English football".[75] Terry Venables claimed that, had he lived, it would have been Edwards, not Bobby Moore, who lifted the World Cup trophy as England captain in 1966.[49] Tommy Docherty stated that "there is no doubt in my mind that Duncan would have become the greatest player ever. Not just in British football, with United and England, but the best in the world. George Best was something special, as was Pelé and Maradona, but in my mind Duncan was much better in terms of all-round ability and skill."[76] In recognition of his talents Edwards was made an inaugural inductee to the English Football Hall of Fame in 2002...HEARD ABOUT BUSBY BABES BUT NEVER IN SO MUCH DETAIL>>THANKS TO MARK>>> THIS SHOWS US WHAT THEY WERE>>>FANTASTIC VIDEO MARK>>>>LOVED IT>>>>MAN UTD ARE THE GREATEST>>>>GGMU.....RIP BUSBY BABES AND LONG LIVE MAN UTD.....
DUNCAN EDWARD'S tombstone reads: "A day of memory, Sad to recall, Without farewell, He left us all",///HUGE RESPECT.......SITTING IN INDIA BEING A TRUE UNITED FAN I WANT TO VISIT HIS TOMB AT LEAST ONCE IN MY LIFE....
as far as I'm concerned the busby babes are manchester united. they encapsulate everything this club is about. the trust placed in youth to carry the club forward. it didn't matter to them what happened on the pitch they would carry on playing in the same no holds barred attacking spirit. the last game they played in England was a fitting tribute to them and is still to this day believed to be one of the best games ever played. I have known about of people who saw them play and had the privilege to talk to them about this great team. everyone of them said the same thing, big Duncan was the greatest player they ever saw. they can't all be wrong.
and your right... england would have won world cup, Edwards was beyond his time. i would have loved to watch them and its where our tradition of exciting football came from. Could you imagine what an Edwards or Taylor would be worth in todays idiotic transfer fees ?. Players today have it easy....
Imagine what our European cup tally would be if the Babes had lived! 5 times would be a joke. R.I.P.. Great video Mark, you should try to get somebody on who saw them play or maybe a show a video and do a watch along.
If you want a good book, Busby Babes Men of Magic by Max Arthur is a cracking read as is the team that wouldn't die by I think John Roberts one of the journalists who survived the crash.
Since the disaster, Manchester United have gone on to win the European cup just 10 years later. We've won more first division titles than any other club in the land! We had the greatest manager of all time (along with Sir Matt Busby) in Sir Alex Ferguson. We've had the greatest players in the world and we've won multiple European cups and Champions Leagues, Club World cups. And right now we're in a fantastic position with Mourinho. But my question to you Mark is... IF that disaster hadn't of happened and the players from that team survived and went on to win everything, would Manchester United as a club and team be in an even better position now?
Even though they had comfortably won the league twice in a row from 1955-57 the Babes weren’t even at their peak. The Peak years would have been the early 60s when Edwards, Taylor, Byrne, Viollet & of course Charlton would have dominated the game.
busby babes was the best team sir matt busby had created !!! the whole club has been based on tgat memory !!! jyst listen to the interviews of sir matt busby !!!
at that time they where one of the best teams but theres if's but's maybe if they went on to dominate world football but for me team i always think as the greatest is the 60s with best law charlton
Gavlaa _13 having watched the busby babes and the holy trinity years,i would make this observation, the busby babes were about all out attack as some of the scores back up.also nobody knows how far they would have gone, but for sheer technical brilliant entertainment i would side with law best and charlton.the 60s were a team of individuals but the babes were a team!!george was the most natural talent ever to play for us,duncan was prob the best all round performer, and my own personal fav-denis law was the most exciting.bobby was blessed to play a huge part in both teams
Sam Gleðisheygg i saw both teams and the babes were better, but the 99 team epitomised the spirit of the babes magnificently through attackibg spirit and will to win ,keeping going to the final whistle
Bobby Moore would have played for England considering the fact he was a CB and Edwards wasn’t, what is said is that Edwards would have been the captain at 66 not more
The Busby Babes are the spirit of Manchester United
+Adrian Smith They live on I'm everything our club does
The United Stand Manchester United lose 1957 FA cup final against Aston villa and United could be the first team to win the double
The United Stand Tommy Taylor is my favourite player
im a Manc, supported united for 49 years. my dad was a united fan up till the crash and he told me the stories of the side and for him as a boy watching them.
remember the conditions they played in, not on a snooker table pitch and beach ball they play with today and yet there style of football captured the country.
my dad could never bring himself to watch united after the event, it tore the heart out of him and the city. These youngsters who call us names, who sing songs about the crash dont know that an ex City player died in the crash.

Hopefully FIFA stalls this obviously unsustainable trend soon with some common sense transfer regulations and consumer fairness regulations.
Only just got round to watching this... honestly was dreading watching it, finally I got the courage to watch it!
+DG HumiLiator Hope you liked it?
The United Stand I did!😅😍
The United Stand I've heard bout ur snapchat worries. Lol (twitter) 😀🤗😎🤠🤡

Great Video Mark
+United Karl Thanks pal
My top five players would be ; Edwards,Best,Law,Charlton and Cantona
From humble origins of railwaymen at Newton Heath surviving bankruptcy, the bombing of Old Trafford the Busby Babes tragedy against the odds United endured to be one of the biggest clubs in the world Glory Glory
+Adrian Smith They greatest story in football
RIP the busby babes who died in the plane crash. They are forever legends.❤️❤️
+Football RedDevils United's Greatest
Flowers or Manchester. Growing older and first reading about this. Such a tragedy. Forever the Spirit of Manchester United
+Geovanny The story of how good they are is one everyone should know
i once went to a golf club do where the speaker was wilf mcguiness who said he would prob have been on that plane but for injury.fate i suppose.he also told the story of how after morning training routines the coaches then got the players to work on their weaknesses for half an hour, such as headibg sprinting crossing etc.but they allways said duncan u can go and get changed because he had no weaknesses.but of course he stayed and helped his mates
+Barry Taylor Fantastic story Barry. Love hearing new things about them. Used to spend hours talking about them with my Grandad
Amazing 👍👏. #FlowersOfManchester
one of the greatest of his time @ Edward
+Otse Peter The Greatest
David Pegg lived down the road from me im from highfields doncaster and he lived at number 5 Coppice road
Fantastic video
It's such a big tradigy because of how good the team was every football fan back then knew they where a special team and there would never be another one
You done the club justice with the tribute. Yeah I wonder how many European cups we would have but were never know. Rip
+Bradley smith Thanks. Just wanted those fans who weren't aware to understand how great that side was
Contemporaries of Edwards have been unstinting in their praise of his abilities. George Best was something special, as was Pelé and Maradona, but in my mind Duncan was much better in terms of all-round ability and skill."[76] In recognition of his talents Edwards was made an inaugural inductee to the English Football Hall of Fame in 2002...HEARD ABOUT BUSBY BABES BUT NEVER IN SO MUCH DETAIL>>THANKS TO MARK>>>
THIS SHOWS US WHAT THEY WERE>>>FANTASTIC VIDEO MARK>>>>LOVED IT>>>>MAN UTD ARE THE GREATEST>>>>GGMU.....RIP BUSBY BABES AND LONG LIVE MAN UTD.....
+Anirban Bhattacharya Cheers pal and more brilliant information in your commeny that everyone should read
Also Duncan Edwards was in the top 3 of player of the year
+MSTR Halam899 Exactly. A fantastic player
I cannot remember exact scoring stats about Tommy Taylor but I think his goals to games ratio is the best if any CF
I think it is Geoff? Something like 130 goals in 180 games?
The United Stand about 0 .78 a goal a game. Denis and Rudd are next?
as far as I'm concerned the busby babes are manchester united. they encapsulate everything this club is about. the trust placed in youth to carry the club forward. it didn't matter to them what happened on the pitch they would carry on playing in the same no holds barred attacking spirit. the last game they played in England was a fitting tribute to them and is still to this day believed to be one of the best games ever played. I have known about of people who saw them play and had the privilege to talk to them about this great team. everyone of them said the same thing, big Duncan was the greatest player they ever saw. they can't all be wrong.
Simon Wright 5-4 at highbury brill
This was brilliant
Thats my ANY player who runs out on the old trafford pitch should be inspired by the spirit of the babes. Depay take note,
Matt Busby said that Duncan Edwards could play well in every outfield position and 'he wasn't bad in goal'.
Good morning United Stand.
and your right... england would have won world cup, Edwards was beyond his time. i would have loved to watch them and its where our tradition of exciting football came from.
Could you imagine what an Edwards or Taylor would be worth in todays idiotic transfer fees ?. Players today have it easy....
i urge the new fans to read on the babes !!!
hersh puri i did its so interesting
Duncan Edwards a total genius
A good side but did not blow all teams away, unlikely to beat Manchester City in comparison
Imagine what our European cup tally would be if the Babes had lived! 5 times would be a joke. R.I.P.. Great video Mark, you should try to get somebody on who saw them play or maybe a show a video and do a watch along.
excellent video dude
+LEVI-LAND T.V. Thanks pal
If you want a good book, Busby Babes Men of Magic by Max Arthur is a cracking read as is the team that wouldn't die by I think John Roberts one of the journalists who survived the crash.
John Copson a team that wouldnt die is a v good book-by JULIAN roberts.and wasnt on the plane.hes younger than me
I think that terrible loss also seriously impacted the 1958 England World Cup team.
Guys you should watch the Manchester United movie about it
+MSTR Halam899 It's a bit inaccurate though, which is frustrating
Mark seems nervous, chill out mark w3e wont have ur head for some errors. Good vid.
+Mrinal Mendon Hard subject matter. Essential to do them justice
+Nicholas Anderson Great question. We'll never know. But one thing is certain. That team would have won plenty more league titles and European cups
Had the 1958 air crash not taken place, I wonder if England would have won the 1958 or 1962 world cups?
Even though they had comfortably won the league twice in a row from 1955-57 the Babes weren’t even at their peak. The Peak years would have been the early 60s when Edwards, Taylor, Byrne, Viollet & of course Charlton would have dominated the game.
🙏🏾❤
Just to let you know Duncan Edwards was 21 when he died
+John Copson I know. Basic error.
busby babes was the best team sir matt busby had created !!! the whole club has been based on tgat memory !!! jyst listen to the interviews of sir matt busby !!!
#FlowersofManchester RIP Rescpet
+rafplayzhd Thanks pal
Surprised you couldn't get Duncan's age right, he was 21.
at that time they where one of the best teams but theres if's but's maybe if they went on to dominate world football but for me team i always think as the greatest is the 60s with best law charlton
R.I.P
Mark was the busbybabes better than the 1999 team?
+Sam Gleðisheygg easily
Sam Gleðisheygg i saw both teams and the babes were better, but the 99 team epitomised the spirit of the babes magnificently through attackibg spirit and will to win ,keeping going to the final whistle
I have no words for the absolute disgusting people who dislike this video!! You don't deserve to live
+Devavrat Bhotica By commenting about them you give them the attention their sad existence craves
Can you list some of the books you read for your subscribers Mark?
+Trunks MyNigga will do pal
Thank you !
Bobby Moore would have played for England considering the fact he was a CB and Edwards wasn’t, what is said is that Edwards would have been the captain at 66 not more
Cantona played 185 times for Man united
+ManU 10 Not according to Wikipedia
Keep the red flag flying high we will never die
busby babes.. they were sobgood... we would have win more european cups/champions leagues than real madrid !!!!
+hersh puri At least another 2 European Cups and 3 league titles
The United Stand but the story ends with matt busby coming back and winning it in 68!!
🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭😭😭😭
Manchester United was going out of business
+MSTR Halam899 Tell us more pal
This guy talking is tripping himself up. The hut full of fuel DID explode.
You keep saying that the tragedy was a tragedy lol
Nice 1 Mark great tribute.
