    It took me 5 viewings to finally get the corrugated ribbing process, but this is the best video I have found for an intermediate knitter like me.

    Directions are CLEAR, video is CLEAR, everything is just right for me (and I've watched quite a few yarn videos that were too fast or too slow or not clear, or, or... ). THIS ONE is exactly right for my learning needs. Actually a "perfect" video. Thank you!

    I am so glad to find this! I didn't know you could do two-color knitting flat, I guess, having always done it in the round. I want to do a big shawl collar in corrugated ribbing, and I want to use Japanese short rows to shape it. So I have another challenge to go with the knitting corrugated flat, but of course, without being able to knit it flat, I would never be able to do short rows at all. Thank you, thank you. Oh, one other question -- a few years ago, I was knitting two-color stranded inside out in the round, and it worked well to keep the strands from getting too tight. I can't remember where I learned to do that, and I can't remember how to do it, either. I think I was doing it Portuguese style, and inside out. Worked well.

    So wonderfully explained, Suzanne. May I ask what sort of cast on do you use? Sorry, but can't "read" it.

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  3 года назад

      Yes, for this project, I used the standard long tail cast on, then I worked a knit row followed by another knit row. That gives a nice little garter edge for starting the color work. Like a border.

    Really wish I could knit holding 2 color yarns in both hands 😞 since I lack 3 fingers on right hand I’ve only been successful with throwing style. Do you think those “ring” yarn holders would be of any help?

    • @SuzanneBryan

      Give it a try and see if it helps. I have a friend who uses it for all of her colorwork.

    I want to learn this: I must watch this again. Sometimes, it seems the words bring to the back and forward are confusing. It seems when the WS is facing you and you bring the yarn on the WS, you are bringing the yarn forward. I guess the words to the front or to the back or to the WS, etc. Is there a pattern?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  4 года назад

      Thank you. this is just a lesson on how to work corrugated ribbing flat. You can use it to substitute for any ribbing.

  • @duffysmom6122

    Would this technique work for socks, even though this type of ribbing isn't very stretchy, especially if I used knitting-in elastic thread?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  3 года назад

      When I use this technique for socks, I cast on extra stitches for the ribbing to counteract the lack of stretchiness. Then you can decrease them off right away after the ribbing.

    I am planning to use it on a top down sweater

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  3 года назад +2

      I like to finish off the corrugated ribbing with a little edge. Knit one row or round in your knit stitch color, then purl one round (knit if working flat). Then bind off. This creates a little ridge that outlines the corrugated ribbing and looks really tidy. Let me know how it works. 🧶

    How do I apply this technique to a fair else sweater knitting completely with rib stitches and with pattern changes throughout? Is there a video for it. Your video is very clear and instructional but this one only deals with 1x1 ribbing, and I am having difficulties transferring the technique to a 1x1 ribbing sweater. Thanks and much appreciated. Betty

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  6 лет назад

      Can you tell me the name of the sweater? Is it on Ravelry? If I could take a look, I could give you a better answer.

    • @bettyhuang6760
      @bettyhuang6760 6 лет назад

      The pattern is called "the Dude" by Andrea Rangelknits. My problem is with catching the floats so that the stitches show up as distinct knits and pearl stitches. Right now they seem to run into each other and sometimes the legs show up tangles and the complimentary yarn shows up where it should not. Just not very pretty looking and untidy. Thanks so much for your reply and help.

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  6 лет назад +2

      I took a look at the pattern and all the projects and notes. You may be pulling the floats too tight. If you can contact me on Ravelry, I can give you my email address and if possible, can you make a video of you knitting on the piece so that I can see what you are doing, as well as send me some pictures of the work. Then we can get down to brass tacks. I am Knittingsuzanne on Ravelry.
