To be fair, I think we've gotten and still continue to get a lot of gems that are just as good, thanks to the years of people trying to recreate this very experience. Visage is a great example--HEAVILY P.T.-inspired and just as frightening. I don't think Visage would have existed without P.T., and that goes for a lot of games. This one "Playable Trailer" inspired and informed an entire genre and probably multiple generations of games and gamers when all is said and done.
Someone remade PT into a standalone title I believe just so people could try it out. It sucks PT died, but it's also kinda amazing the legacy it's had. Most influential trailer for a game that never came out in history. I'm actually kinda surprised that with the new Silent Hill games they have not tried to get the original creator back to finish his vision.
@@geneanthony3421 so true how much that trailer has influenced the horror genre since. Unfortunately, I suspect Kojima refuses to work with Konami ever again, and I also suspect that he himself is a hard man to work with. I have no proof of that, but he's a visionary, and visionaries are often unyielding in their approaches to art.
The audio of Lisa breaking your neck then unzipping your jacket and mutilating your body off screen is a really disturbing detail.. It's the type of horror that leaves enough to the imagination so your brain fills in the gap of what might be happening... it really works
I always interpreted the pt loop as being a metaphor for hell/purgatory, I think the guy we control is the father who killed his family and then killed himself And he's in hell where he sees all his crimes and victims coming back to torture him for eternity
@dieterdelange9488 yea, how I interpret the endings is. Is if you collect all the mirror mask pieces (good ending). The main character and his family forgives him because he sees what he has done and truly repents. The bad ending, using the revolver. The main character decides not to repent and see all he had done so he is doomed to spend eternity in the purgatory.
I can't believe it's been almost 10 years at this point for this demo ever since it released, back when still the AAA gaming had creativity unlike now where it's bloated with microtransactions and live service. such a shame the tech evolved but the creative side of the AAA devolved hard thanks to the suits.
Unforgettable gem. This had such a huge potential and influence that it inspired many developers to create spiritual successors. Just one hallway can scare you to your core. Hallway represents hell itself.
My house actually became haunted after playing this game back in 2014. I've been stuck inside for the last 10 years, and I can't leave. I'm eating the same frozen Pizza again and again. HELP.
I concur. Visage has a special place in my heart for bringing me back to the feelings I got playing Silent Hill for the first time. Not sure if my heart could handle a VR version.
PT has a War of the Worlds reference. During the radio play back in 1938 a man murdered his family and took his own life. As he believed that Martians had in fact invaded earth.
@@Talia.777 I cannot find any sources about this supposed murder. On top of that, there are many results about how the hysteria was either a myth or exaggerated.
Where does it say that a radio station is supposed to bring happiness or be a "social voice" ? The news is always about problems, tragedy, crime, war etc, how does that equate to happiness ?
Yea, if it was a Silent Hill entry, then I'm sure the house would have been like an intro or a flashback/hallucination. Or it could've simply been a location within the town that you visit to complete a puzzle or something. It's a shame we will never know. This game looked so fucking promising.
If large gaming studios focused more on amazing gameplay, creative stories, and nuanced use of tech vs microtransations, making everything rushed and live to avoid pirating, and how many pores are on the face of a background character gaming would suck so much less. I miss having a physical copy with a manual and completed product on launch....
If I remember correctly, the numbers were referencing the name Jarith (supposedly the name of the son). When you say the name into the mic in the last section you get the baby laugh.
The last game I played that was this claustrophobic was The Suicide of Rachel Foster. I love games like this that put you in a specific, very limited setting, but then you do a deep dive into the characters and setting, and it fucks with your own fears as well, making it feel intensely personal. This kind of game needs to make a comeback.
But that game isn't over, now is Overdose or OD, seems like Kojima is gonna fight against SH. Kojima is an stubborn guy, and he has Peele and Del Toro by his side now.
the fact its gone has added to its legend n those who played got to experience something special that will never be replicated. as much as i loved this i wouldnt want it to come back in its original state. a sequel or something would be cool af tho
Gods,.... I miss the chill I felt when I saw this demo for the first time. I was so unbelievably excited for it,...but then,.... then Konami lost its fucking mind.
This could've been a game that would revitalize the Silent Hill series. It's a shame that this had to happen. Also for anyone that never figured it out: 204863 = Kojima's birthday(8/24/63)
Not sure why so many people still miss this game because it didn't look like anything special to me while other Silent Hill games were underated like sh4. I'm guessing it's only because of "big names" involved in development
Bc it was a hope for something new on SH2 level which was the best for me. I personally didn't like The room at all. And homecoming was bland action game, not bad for a horror game, but shallow for SH.
This game literally inspired an entire generation of horror games after it. Let's hope OD takes the world of horror gaming to the next level the way PT did.
You should have saved your little joke near the end for April fool’s day. Seriously though, the influence this game had on the video game industry is mind boggling.
The fact that this game is never coming makes me cry since 8 years…😢 If I were a billionaire , I would found this game no matter how much money it takes
Somehow the cocroaches in the wall scare me more than the monsters :) About the swedish language... Imagine that you are from a non-english country (like sweden), playing an english videogame, and suddenly you start to hear sentences in YOUR OWN language. That would certainly freak me out 150%

God this makes me feel old. I still feel like the cancellation was completely due to the pissing match between Konami and Kojima. I wasn’t even huge player of their games, but I couldn’t make sense of the conflict because I could have sworn Konami made it through 30+ years because of Kojima. Metal Gear is the first Franchise everyone can name from Konami and those assholes tried to erase Kojima’s name to it.😑👍
They should make this game at some point. It's not fair that it's gone forever.
But Kojima should do it. Konami keeps fucking up after he left.
It wouldn’t be the same and it won’t be as good

So hell here is not your stereotypical red sky with fires emerging from the ground
Somewhat similar to the Jewish conception of hell or the hell portrayed in Preacher show
I'm still able to play P.T. on my PS4. Really pleased I chose not to uninstall back before it got pulled.
After Lisa backs away up on that balcony, she lays on the floor on her back before despawning.

That's what you get for not eating the whole pizza when it was fresh.
Joshcollins was such a drag always wearing the same clothes, play the same games and eating the same frozen pizza
Just poke everything with your finger until something happens and then walk through the loop again. Should be able to progress 😉
Check your bathroom for a hole in the wall.
Well at least we got Visage because of PT. It's legit one of the scariest horror games ever made. Specially the Dolores chapter is a masterpiece.
Facts.
I concur. Visage has a special place in my heart for bringing me back to the feelings I got playing Silent Hill for the first time. Not sure if my heart could handle a VR version.
Still nowhere near as good as PT but solid.
Absolutely spot on! Visage best psychological horror game ever made. Madison, ad infinitum etc don't even come close.
I can't even complete it, it's so good.

If it's true.... How sad 😞😞
A radio station that's meant to bring happiness, news, and be a society voice, led to this tragedy...

I really wonder if the whole game was supposed to be entirely in the house, or if the house is just a small section.
I guess it was going to be a small section in a much bigger environment. The final scene indicates that.

PT looks like a level/puzzle from Nowhere in Silent Hill 1
This paved the way.
