    This is one of the best podcasts I've seen in a long time!
    If I was to comment on everything where I was cheering, I would have to write a book.
    I've learned so much about menopause from Mindy. I am 67 and I went through all of that not knowing anything about what was happening to me!
    It's really time that women know about their own bodies! And it's really time for Dr's to learn about it and stop dismissing women as complainers!
    Thanks for what both of you are doing!!

    I totally get what Dr. Mindy is saying. I do the same thing. You test it out for your own self. Not everyone is built the same. Not everything is going to work for everyone. I take what I learn from different people and test it out in a safe way and see what works for me.

      @@pattycarlin1745 I make myself huge salads with red cabbage,garbanzo beans( chickpeas) organic tofu ,amazingly it is no problem to add oils or nuts or avocado you still shed the fat sweet vegetables like corn and carrots have to be limited as have most fruits ,any type of protein leaves you satiated where I live there is no allulose or monkfruit so Erythrol and Stevia are the go to " sugars" for sweets you can make an amazing zucchini chocolate cake (we are talking about pitch dark chocolate here)with a coconut cream frosting the flour ist coconut and buckwheat or almond,so No Starches!
      Buckwheat can also make a nice porridgy sweet dish without all the calories and sugars it takes only a little to make milk, in my case plant milk firm up a little a dash of vanilla the sugar replacement and voilà,if you eat eggs they fill you up so does Tofu hope this helps

    I did not know anything about fasting until late 2019/2020. I have never been a long faster but I do fast and have cleaned up my diet. Managed to get my weight from 267 to 184, started eating crappy again gained weight back. Now I am back in the game. I was on crutches/cane during almost the first year of the pandemic now I can walk anywhere from 5-7 miles. I use a total gym most days and light dumbbell weights. My fasts are sorta like what she speaks to in her first book some days 12, 14, 16,18 and some 36 hour fasts. I just can't get a solid schedule. I was really steady on the 19: 5 but had bad digestive problems. What I really like is the 14/16 hour fast. I have followed one thing she speaks to and that is eating real food from my garden like greens/beans/carrots/potatoes.

    I feel better as I eat more protein and fat (ex. Ribeye steak) and worse with refined starches and sugars. I'm losing weight for the first time and eating luxuriously, and yet when I was high refined wheat low 1200 calorie a day I coukd not lose weight. My body double downed and slowed metabolism when I calorie restricted. I was very resentful that at one time, I could eat much higher calories and maintain. And yet, when I busted my metabolism I maintained at 1200 calories. People didn't believe me because I was still overweight. There has to be much more involved than "calories in calories out" mentality. I've discovered carnivore very recently and am amazed that I can eat well and feel satiated for hours without getting hangry or ravenous. I'm losing weight plus am pain free for the first time since I can remember.

    Mindy makes sense because men and women are different.. metabolically. Hormones are different = nutritional needs are different.. even among women we need different foods as we age..so stop looking for “something” for all.. not there..

  • @Arya-pe1dr
    @Arya-pe1dr Месяц назад

    💥💥💥I agree with most of what Dr. Mindy says except for maybe not grouping all menopausal women together as wanting to look thin and dying their hair merely because of a patriarchal society. Some of us just want to look like that or embrace looking thin and anti-aging simply because we want to and prefer that look. It's not for societal reasons. In addition, I don't believe for me that it is healthy to have stressful conversations or debates with people having differing political or religious beliefs. It makes me angry and I feel more comfortable with those having similar mindsets. I believe for me it's not worth upsetting my peace of mind and does not benefit me in any way.

    It is impossible to eat one gram of protein for every pound of body weight. 150 grams of protein a day? I would be sick.

  • @LyneGuy
    @LyneGuy Месяц назад +1

    I am shocked that he does not understand the difference in calories and impact on hormones. She’s trying to explain but he does not get it. 100 calories of chicken /legumes (aka protein ) is not the same as 100 calories of pasta and bread! It’s reducing calories that counts, it’s selecting the calories that don’t spike your blood sugar hence your insulin!!!!

  • @christinaburcell4112

    It's difficult to consume enough protein for 1 day. And it's super expensive to eat a ton of protein 🙃 😩 it costs at least 100.00 a month.

    • @magsrankin6166
      @magsrankin6166 День назад

      $100.00 a month for food (or just protein?) is an absolute bargain compared to what this would cost (either way) in other countries.

  • @Esther-c8g

    Why do nutritionist/docs always use grams rather than ounces and pounds when talking about food? In the USA we don’t t ‘speak’ grams. You recommend ONE gram of protein per POUND of weight is a good way to measure an appropriate amount for daily consumption. I googled 135 pounds = 135 grams. That converts to 4.8 OUNCES which is the equivalent of one hamburger eg. Really? Is this correct? Sounds like too little.

    • @Amber4
      @Amber4 Месяц назад

      A burger consist not only of protein but also fat. So probably eat two burgers to get to the amount of protein.

      Not every participant in this conversation is American, but yes, there could be better consistency in using the same measurement system for this equation, whether metric or imperial. One but not both.

    • @magsrankin6166

      To lengthen the fasting period/reduce the eating window. I've done it. It's hard, but really effective when you're intent on seeing results. I, perhaps ironically, did this initially for weightloss purposes, not even considering the many other wonderful health benefits. I don't do it now 'cos I achieved (exceeded, actually) my stated goal of losing 10kgs. Never thought I could do it but IF/OMAD really does work. Not necessarily sustainable in the longer term.
