Making handmade rugs for our home is one of the most rewarding processes I have experienced. Keeping it simple and leaving IN the white spaces for creative questioning is key in developing a rug that is meant specifically for YOU.

Is there a way to calculate how much wool or roving needed based on the finished size desired? I will have to purchase my wool roving and need to be sure I purchase enough. I don't mind if I have left over.

I am a retired RN and worked many ER's. Yes weaving is a great way to decompress. I have a Peg Loom and a Rigid Heddle Loom. I did a rug using synthetic "Roving" like material and very large acrylic yarn. I turned out pretty but is so slick on the floor it is too dangerous to use. What do you recommend to stop the finished rug from slipping all over the floor. Also, do you wash your wool first? I saw a video where the young weaver used "unwashed" wool. I think that is just nasty. It could have sheep feces and "critters" in it. Or is that the Nurse coming out in me.
Some people use rubber drawer liner.

I just tie one to the next one nothing too fancy you could kind of braid them together I suppose
